haha.. it is one of those series that I started and then got sidetracked on other books and never got the sequels, but now that all three are out, I can just read straight through. I like it a lot too, my only complaint is the POVs are so similar, it is hard to distinguish between the two voices, but the plot is really good and I like the characters so I hope the sequels are good too!

message 1872: by Genevieve (new)

Genevieve Griffin (genevievegriffin) I just finished Shadow and Bone this past week -- very much enjoyed that, and I need to pick up the sequel. And today at lunch I started rereading Night of Cake & Puppets. I have to confess to being more than a little bit of a romantic, and that story hits just about every button possible with me. :)

I'm not much into zombie books, but thought I would pick it up at some point. I figured if they made a movie out of it, it's probably pretty good.

Yeah, some of the story isn't as developed as it could be I guess. But I enjoyed the premise of it and as the books evolve the story gets more intricate. The first book I felt was the weakest too Danielle. I read it when it first came out I think so it's been a while now and I can't really recall a lot of the storyline. I just enjoy this author's imagination and versatility to her writing. She always manages to surprise me with new and different ideas. Sorry you didn't enjoy it. My favorite ones of hers are The Chosen Soul trilogy and Hell Bent. She has so many different books and they're all very different from each other.

You know David, I think that of all of the zombie books out there this one seems to be the one that mostly tempts me. I've heard and read really good things about it. I wish I liked zombie books. Maybe I'll cave and read this one eventually. Glad you're enjoying it though.

Yep, I hear ya. I have three or four dystopian series that I started when we had dystopian reading challenge back in the day, and I was HOOKED on them for awhile then got sick of them. lol Now that I've read a million contemp romance and PNR books, they are more appealing. Enjoy diving into the series!

Danielle (Danniegurl) (danniesreads) | 1326 comments I think I'm in a book slump. Everything I start just doesn't seem appealing and it doesn't seem to matter the genre blech. Maybe I need a break, but I love books too. I guess I'm sick of the intro and story building and want to get right to the guts lol. I guess I need to find "the one" I need something that I have a great connection with, makes me emotional or has feels lol. I'm diving back into my tbrs if I'm not back by Tuesday I've gotten lost in my shelves and need help finding my way out lol.
