I've read mostly glowing reviews that say the same thing. I think I'm not in the headspace for it yet, if that makes sense…to push through to get the reward.

Belkis (bminaya) | 8313 comments Okay so I finished Rock Chick Redemption (Rock Chick, #3) by Kristen Ashley yesterday and really enjoyed it. No surprise here because KA is fantastic. OMG her character Uncle Tex had me laughing my butt off over and over through this one. Hilarious! Now I'm enjoying Bound by Flames (Night Prince, #3) by Jeaniene Frost about a third into it and it's great so far. Love Vlad! Now I'm anxious because so many great new releases are piled up for me to get to and I still need to get to our weekly RC book too. Oh lordy. I don't know how I'm going to get through them fast enough :P

Belkis (bminaya) | 8313 comments @ Tracy
I will tell you that The Bone Season (The Bone Season, #1) by Samantha Shannon takes a bit to get into it especially with the massive info-dump the author jams into the first few chapters of the book. I'd strongly recommend getting this one on audio if possible. The narrator does a fantastic job with this story and all the difficult names and castes and such won't be an additional deterrent to this wonderful story if you go the audio route. I loved the audio. You know we love our audiobooks Tracy but in some instances it's major LOVE because some stories just come alive in audio version and for me this one of those very special instances. I truly do recommend this story but just hang in with it through the first quarter-third of the book while the author gets the world building setup out of the way. I'm so looking forward to The Mime Order (The Bone Season, #2) by Samantha Shannon woohoo!!

The plot line was interesting and really quite good, but the whole romance thing pissed me off. It could have been totally left out because, IMO, it didn't lend anything of significance to the story.

I don't remember if there were any "adult" situations, but honestly I'm like 99% sure there wasn't. It refers to many ... intense... situations, but it's not graphic in any way. I would definitly classify it as YA

Yes, I would second this - the narration is excellent, although it did take me a little while to get used to the irish accent when I first picked it up back in 2013 (I'd just come off listening to Allegient and it was quite....different lol)

I also agree about being patient through the start....It was a little confusing the first time I read it as Shannon doesn't provide many explanations for her info or world to begin with, she just launches you in and expects you to be patient enough to wait and find out what's going on...if you are patient you are duly rewarded for it

I have actually come to really enjoy this style of writing and now often find books which try to clarify info by 'telling' too much at the start rather than 'showing' as the story unfolds really annoying
