Randall Johannes (goodreadscomrandall_johannes) | 4 comments Hi, My name is Randall Johannes and I'm new to just about everything that has to do with marketing, linking, tags, etc. I stumbled across Good Reads and found that I am not alone in the pursuit of getting the blood, sweat, and tears of a chunk of once's life out there to be read and enjoyed by others. I love to encourage people to write, create, utilizing the talents that are within them. If I can't make it, then I'll let someone stand on my shoulders and push them over the top, just for the mere satisfaction of saying, "I was part of that." I hope you all succeed, and that amazing books pour effortlessly from your finger tips.

Michelle (bookworm1212) | 1 comments Hello, I'm Michelle W, 24F, and I love to read. I am a librarian by degree (MLIS) but have not found a full time job yet. I have recently started reviewing books and have earned a few early review copies so far.

My favorite books are YA novels, especially paranormal romance, elemental novels, and fairy books. I also like sci fi and fantasy as well, as long as they aren't too difficult to get into. I don't read a ton of adult novels, as they get too detailed or too romance-y often.

message 276: by Rosemary (new)

Rosemary Morris (rosemarymorriscouk) | 11 comments Very well, I shall introduce myself by sharing my author bio since you asked so nicely.

There is a gigantic canvas for a historical novelist to choose from. So far Rosemary Morris has chosen to set her published novels in the England of Queen Anne Stuart 1702 – 1714 and the popular Regency era. She is now writing Monday’s Child a Regency novel and revising another novel set in the reign of Edward II.

She chose those periods in which to set her novels in because each of them affected the course of history. If the Duke of Marlborough had not won The War of Spanish Succession and The Duke of Wellington had not defeated Napoleon at The Battle of Waterloo the history of Britain and that of Europe would have been very different, and would also had far-reaching consequences for other countries. If Edward II had won the Battle of Bannockburn, Robert the Bruce would have probably been killed. It is feasible that the king would most likely have conquered Scotland and, perhaps, as it is claimed, he would not have been murdered.

The more Rosemary reads about her chosen eras the more fascinated she becomes and the more aware of the gulf between those periods of history and her own. She believes those who lived in the past shared the same emotions as we do but their attitudes and way of life were in many ways quite different to ours. One of the most striking examples is the position of women in society in bygone ages.

Rosemary presents women who are of their time, not women dressed in costume who behave like 21st century women. Of course, it is almost impossible to completely understand our ancestors but through extensive research Rosemary ensures her characters observe the social etiquette of their life and times in order not to become outcasts from society.
Research of Rosemary’s chosen era sparks her imagination. The seeds of her novels are sown. From it sprout the characters and events which will shape their lives.

Rosemary Morris was born in 1940 in Sidcup Kent. As a child, when she was not making up stories, her head was ‘always in a book.’

While working in a travel agency, Rosemary met her Hindu husband. He encouraged her to continue her education at Westminster College. In 1961 Rosemary and her husband, now a barrister, moved to his birthplace, Kenya, where she lived from 1961 until 1982. After an attempted coup d’état, she and four of her children lived in an ashram in France.

Back in England, Rosemary wrote historical fiction and joined the Romantic Novelists’ Association, Historical Novel Society and Watford Writers.
Apart from writing, Rosemary enjoys classical Indian literature, reading, visiting places of historical interest, vegetarian cooking, growing organic fruit, herbs and vegetables and creative crafts.

Her bookshelves are so crammed with historical non-fiction which she uses to research her novels that if she buys a new book she has to consider getting rid of one.

Time spent with her five children and their families most of whom live near her is precious.

Rosemary’s e-books published by MuseItUp Publishing are available from the publisher, Amazon-kindle, ibooks, Nook and other reputable vendors.

You can read the first three chapters of her novels and view the book trailers on her website www.rosemarymorris.co.uk. Rosemary would like to hear from you and receive your comments.

Terence Park (archie_tp) | 3 comments A Guide to First Contact by T.P. Archie
Hi
I'm from the UK. I write anything with a bit of fire, thunder, passion or difference. I do realism and I research to get it right. This comes out as borderline fiction that straddles SF, fantasy, historical and hard-boiled crime. I don't do heroes or villains, just people (or entities) wanting what they want and prepared to make some sacrifice to get it.

R. Manolakas | 4 comments Hello, I'd like to also mention that I have a new paranormal thriller that closely parallels the Ebola outbreak (my audiobook was released in January of this year). It has some sexual content and violence that is comparatively mild and some dark themes--all of which are plot driven. There is no hint of explicit porn. I have US and UK audiobook free download codes on Audible.com. A review and rating is appreciated but not required. Visit my author page and preview the video, and you can hear an actual sample on my private website or my Amazon author page--the links of which are on my Goodreads author page. This would make a good Halloween listen about a Nobel Prize Winning virologist who is tasked by the First Lady to concoct a new vaccine to vanquish the "Vampire Virus" that is rampaging through Africa and threatens the US. Dr. De Guise is plunged into a week of terror that he never bargained for--with everything hanging in the balance. I have five free codes (US) and ten (UK). Message me for a code at my Goodreads Author Page and I will send you the code. thanks, r. manolakas Subversion Life on the Edge of Eternity by R. Manolakas https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

I'm Colin, an architect but my primary occupation has become writing. I have one book on Amazon. Now two other novels, just proofed, and I am looking for reviews prior to publication.
They are both about common man thrust into situations not of his choosing and fighting an enemy who wishes his demise. Adventure stories really, corruption, blackmail, murder, entrapment - but with some love interest (how could there not be?)
Imaginary Cay is set in the Bahamas with a climax running up the Eastern Seaboard to Washington. Beneath The Surface Lies is set in Thailand, mainly Phuket. I can e-mail either novel in most formats. Just contact me at colin.hodson@free.fr

message 292: by Sheldon (new)

Sheldon Lefkowitz Good afternoon (or so it is here in Southern California)

I'm Sheldon. I have written two novels now appearing on Amazon's site. My most recent one, SIR LYLE'S DIG, was a Quarter Finalist in this year's Amazon Breakthrough Novel competition.

I'm looking for a couple of readers to provide an honest review for me. I'll give 2 or 3 of the first responders a free copy of the ebook, formatted whichever works for your device. But, please, only ask if you are really going to read the book!

Here is the blurb:

http://www.amazon.com/Sir-Lyles-Dig-S...

Glad to be with you and looking forward to learning much from this group of readers!

message 293: by Glenn (last edited Nov 01, 2014 01:10PM) (new)

Glenn Conley (gecizzle) | 5 comments Hi there! I'm Glenn, and I write reviews at my blog Glenn Hates Books. I really do hate books that suck. And, I want the world to know. On the other hand, I love books that live up to their blurb, and don't disappoint. For those few books, they get my unique, sometimes profane version of flattery.

I'm always looking for good books to review, and I'm usually very fast about reading books and getting the reviews posted. Yesterday, I read and reviewed 4 books.

So, if you would like your book reviewed, send a mobi or pdf copy of your book to gecizzle@gmail.com

My reviews are always brutally honest. You've been warned.
