About to start Shatter The Bones by Stuart MacBride...the 7th DS MacRae book. Have had to skip 6 as I couldn't get hold of it at the library...hoping it won't ruin the story too much!
Currently reading And the Mountains Echoed. Enjoying it, but there are so many different characters and storylines that I'm starting to lose focus a bit.
I replied to a thread on Mumsnet for kindle readers and was sent a link to a book and wow! It's very new but fantastic. Look for My Time, Your Time by Mary Torjussen. I'm still stunned by it.
I started The Palace of Curiosities by Rosie Garland a few days ago. I've been meaning to read this for ages, so I added it to my Magic Square Challenge, and got around to it finally :) It's a fantastic read so far, set in Victorian London, I'd highly recommend it even if I didn't know the author! If you like fantasy, gothic and Angela Carter style literature you'll love it.

Been wanting to read this since I read an extract in Mslexia magazine a while back - the book won their novel competition, albeit with a different title. It's going on my TBR list!
Haha my To-Read list just gets longer! For every book I read, I find at least one or two more that I want to!

I've completely deleted my To Be Read list. I read several books at once, no matter how slowly or quickly anyway. And i found that it's best just to wait til I just start one to add it. I have a lot of books, and whatever I read is usually based on whimsy. i'm reading 13 books at the moment.
I'm reading The Fortune Hunter by Daisy Goodwin. It is good light historical fiction. Next up is Dan Brown Inferno. Also I have a non fiction on the go which is Force of Destiny (history of Italian unification). Interesting but needs more brain work!
I am reading French Revolutions which is very funny, but which is also close to my heart right now as in just over a month Le Tour is coming right past us so this does give an insight as to the whole crazy parade of it all despite the fact that the author is riding the route alone.
I have 838 books on my to-read list. I wish I could say it was getting shorter but I keep adding more!!!

I won't reveal how many I have then!!
Currently reading Planes, Trains & Automobiles: Why Men Love Things That Go. A book for petrol heads really, but I like the way Dan Kieran writes

I actually looked yours up Paul!! Had to see-you might be busy for a while if you want to read all those!!
Well, was reading Lie Down In Darkness by William Styron. Had about 15 pages and it fell out of my bag on my way to work together with my lunch. Backtracking I found the lunch and the bookmark, but someone picked up the book.I had notes, tons of passages underlined, vocabulary all of which I wanted to study. Guess all I can do is order it again and re-read as meticulously as last time.

I read that back in February. Its not bad, but a touch predictable I thought

Oh no, Jan, how frustrating! Not sure how anyone could take a book like that if it was obvious it had been dropped (as it was with your lunch). Hope you can enjoy redoing it all.
In going to start A Possible Life by Sebastian Faulks. Have enjoyed his other books, fingers x'd for this one too.
Reading The Crane Wife and started Poems of the Great War 1914-1918 for the start of the Summer Poetry Challenge.
I am currently reading Women Who Run With Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes. Its nonfiction, its a camraderie of poetic prose, urban legend, and a psychological interpretation of femininity. Its a great read, hoping to be done in the next couple of days.

Just starting a short story written by a bloke I used to work with. Modern Serpents Talk Things Through A lesbian dragon? Sounds good to me.
Thank you, Lisa. It is frustrating, but the book certainly deserves another read. It is some of the most astounding prose I've ever read. You need to take anti-depressants while you're reading it, however.
Also reading Our Southern Highlanders by Horace Kephart about life in Appalachia. Bit dated, since he moved there in the early part of the 20th century, but his love for the area and his descriptions of it are priceless.
Just started reading Physics of the Future: How Science Will Shape Human Destiny and Our Daily Lives by the Year 2100 brilliant so far.
I'm really looking forward to reading that Jo. Loved his other books. In fact I don't know why I haven't read it yet lol.
I'm currently reading The Vampire Lestat, by Anne Rice. I'm also still 'reading' Don Quixote. We read part of it for a course at uni, but I'm keeping it on hold until I know if I've passed the exam for that course or not. Same goes for the Bible. We had to study parts of it for a course at uni and I am planning on reading the rest of it as well, because I think it's important to know the content of such a book (well, collection of books actually), but not until I know if I've passed that exam.
