Same here only two stars, I got hooked in by the title
saw it in our library and thought that looks interesting,
how wrong you can be glad I never bought it.

it was a well read copy too so I thought this looks promising.
About a third into the book showed signs of wear pages almost loose
and well fingered. Then suddenly it like reading a new unread book,
in pristine order and still tightly bound, the last quarter of the book
of the pages returned to being in a loose poorer state. I realise then
that most of the previous readers had got fed up so far along and skipped
to the last two or three chapters to see how it ended up.

if you have enjoyed Lothaire this much and its not difficult to understand,
then you should try and get hold of it on audio book its even better, I never
thought anything could top reading the book.

So many people rave about this series on this site its a favourite to all who
have listened to them.
I believe the Black Dagger Brotherhood series is really good too, not listened to

I read BDB (like 6x over) before I listened to the audiobook. If I had started on the audiobook, I probably wouldn't have continued.
The BDB narrator Jim Fraggione was all wrong and he had no passion and he just ruined it for me.

Same thing with Night Huntress narrator, Tavia Gilbert. She had an awful Bones sound, and she was wrong for that series. interesting enough, I liked her as Vlad in the Night Prince series on audio, but not for Bones & Cat.

message 478: by Lee (last edited Aug 25, 2014 02:23PM) (new)

Lee | 357 comments If the narrator is bad it spoils the whole thing
the House of Night series by P C Cast & Kirstin Cast
is awful, the short stories were OK,but the woman
reading the books was so dramatic and over the top
I had to stop listening, she was just ridiculous .

Oh my goodness, the Bones voice was...odd? Not my cup of tea at all! I'm curious about her Vlad voice now, maybe I'll give the Night Prince audios a try someday.

Finally getting back into CLV series, read House Rules and Biting Bad over the weekend. I'm tired of the GP/house drama but the books seem to be on an upward trend again so optimistic about the series going forward :)

Thinking along the same lines myself when I picked up the first two books
from this series from our library to read again. Its all rain, rain and
more rain here so indoors a lot lately. Just looking back on my ratings
for this series I had Drink Deep at 2 stars and Biting Bad 2 stars.
But Wild Things 4 stars, so its back on track looking forward to the
new one, Blood Games.

I was in the mood for something different last week The Girl with All the Gifts by M.R. Carey it was really good.

Both excellent books really enjoyed them again I had
forgotten how at times they were really funny, wish
I could say the same for the latest in this series
Blood Games, this writer has lost something along the way.
Also I notice that the cost of these newer books they
are charging more for them in relation to other
paperbacks that are new out.

message 497: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments I'm trying to keep to one book at a time...and reading Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander, #2) by Diana Gabaldon ...long, but gotta keep ahead of the filmed series. Having trouble getting into it. Possibly because I've been spending more of time on the electronic device trying to figure out how I can see Outlander, rather than reading. (Head stuffed with new techno-babble...time to head back to France and Jamie & Claire...)

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9661 comments I've started reading Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon because I like the Tv series.

message 499: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Is it a "should see" or "have to see" for you, Val?

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9661 comments Good question. It's not my type of Tv series I normally follow. I'm more a Game of Throne type but I must say that Outlander is really well done and so far is pretty close to the book. The Tv series is not révolutionary, seems to be historically correct too. I will not miss any épisodes. Depends on your taste, for me it's a should see I guess.
