Hope 2014 is very good to you and yours!

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Finished: Howling For You (Chicagoland Vampires, #8.5) by Chloe Neill
I really like Neill's shifters, even though the series focuses more on her vamps (obviously). And, Jeff's my favorite - a tiger ... purrrrr. So, the relationship bit I really liked, the rest of the story was kinda meh. Not a bad short between books though.

Reading: Black Arts (Jane Yellowrock, #7) by Faith Hunter
I got say, the character growth in this series tops all others (or most, anyway). And, each book moves the story forward - sometimes by leaps and bounds.

LOL Sandra! Hope ya'll have a Happy Christmas celebration!

We have a scheduled (what's that about?) base-wide power outage all day tomorrow (booooo!), so I'm freezing some water bottles, making sandwiches, digging out candles, and charging all my gadgets. :/

message 25: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Hope it goes okay Sandra - at least a celebration will perk January up a bit! IMO, it's got to be the worst month!

GTK Steph about the Jane Yellowrock series! I have the first two on hand but yet to start them, and character growth/series progression is a big thumbs up!

Boo about the power outage! That's so weird. Hope you can still get lots of reading done :)

I'm reading Tempest Reborn (Jane True, #6) by Nicole Peeler , last in the Jane True series.

Sandra | 25908 comments Thanks Ladies, its the cleaning I don't like, had to do it at Chrissie for my side of the family, now the same all over again, and the cooking, does it never end!!!!!

Yeah, I haven't started Jane Y either, got a couple of them, and just ordered the Jane True one's as well.

Pity about the outage, but great planning!!

message 30: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I love that description. :)

I somehow got enmeshed in reading several anthologies at once and they are fantastic. If you are fans of the authors in these books then you need to check them out:

I'm finally back to reading Dragon Awakened (The Hidden, #1) by Jaime Rush and really really enjoying it. So different to other dragon books.

Sandra | 25908 comments Glad to hear it AH, always nice to get validation :DDD

Just finished Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead yeah, yeah, I know, everybody else has already read it. So I'm slow and just getting around to them.

Enjoyed it, to me it had the feel of the Mythos Academy, different story, but the feel of the setting and the bad vamps vs good vamps kinda thing.

message 37: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments Sandra, I liked that series until book 5. Then I was ready to punch Rose in the face.

message 38: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Glad ya'll liked Dragon Awakened. :D

LOL AH!

message 39: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Interesting, I bought the first 5 books when they came out, then thought I should stop doing that, what if I hate them. Checked last night and the local library has 6 so I don't need to buy it to find out what happens in the end.

I do think that Rose & Lissa have a dependency issue going on, so, not surprised you wanted to punch her, she is pretty psycho.

message 40: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Don't do the audio of Vampire Academy. I only listened to #5 (read the others) and it was done so poorly.

message 41: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I hated having to wait for those books to be released. Were you upset with Rose b/c of (view spoiler)

message 42: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments See I was okay about that. I just chalked it up to young girl immaturity.

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

In this New year, till now I've read Bloodmagic (Blood Destiny, #2) by Helen Harper Bloodrage (Blood Destiny, #3) by Helen Harper . Really loved both of these. Helen Harper's books are really good. I also finished Summer's Wolf (Westervelt Wolves, #2) by Rebecca Royce Pride Mates (Shifters Unbound, #1) by Jennifer Ashley Witch Hunt by S.M. Reine On the Scent by Angela Campbell .

Finished A Hidden Fire (Elemental Mysteries, #1) by Elizabeth Hunter just now. This book was also really good. Glad I bought the second book beforehand.

Now I'm going to start This Same Earth (Elemental Mysteries, #2) by Elizabeth Hunter .

message 44: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Got some really good ones there Preethi!

message 45: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Is it just me or are kindle book prices spiralling up and up. Just went to look into preordering Carnal Secrets (The Phoenix Pack, #3) by Suzanne Wright and it was US$8 & AUD$8.90. Which seems a lot, the earlier books are now $7.50/$8.00 and I know I didn't pay that either.

message 46: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments That is a bit much for a ebook, IMO. More than a PB copy?

Read: The Jane Yellowrock World Companion by Faith Hunter Erased (Altered, #2) by Jennifer Rush and some shorts by Tiffany Reisz (Daniel Part Two & A Christmas Maggie)

Not sure what I'll start next - nothing looks super appealing at the moment. :/

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I'd heard good things about Brigid Kemmerer's Elemental series, so I decided to give it a go.

Read: Elemental (Elemental, #0.5) by Brigid Kemmerer
Reading: Storm (Elemental, #1) by Brigid Kemmerer

We're looking for a good road trip book that's similar to Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid or Jocelynn Drake's Asylum Tales, if ya'll know of anything, please share. :D
