Very odd -- the link to this topic provided in my Goodreads Updates email goes somewhere entirely different (here). Their database must be glitched somehow. THe "reply to this comment" link functions correctly though.

Odd really. I think I saw a topic about it in the feedback group. Do you mean the notification in GR or the emails in your personal email?
There it is: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
I can post there what you just told me, cause this is not a topic in the same group even. [blink blink]

I read yesterday in the Feedback group that it has been fixed. If you still have a problem please give me the links and I'll post there, so they can hopefully take a look at it.

Nope, got today's email and it's still borked. The caption in my email says

"Dystopia Land topic: "Freebies, part 3" (2 new posts)"

followed by a list of the newest posts. Both "Dystopia Land" and "Freebies part 3" are links, and both are wrong. Both go to http://www.goodreads.com/comment/show...

After the war with the Foreworlders, Backworlders scatter across the remaining planets. Competition is fierce, and pickings are scant. Scant enough that Craze’s father decides to improve his fortunes by destroying his son. He tells his only boy their moon isn’t big enough for them both and gives Craze a ticket for the next transport leaving the space dock.

Treated worse than a stranger, like the scuzzbag of the galaxy, Craze is forced to flee his home. Cut off from everyone he knows with little money and no knowledge of the worlds beyond his, he must find away to forge a new life and make sure his father regrets this day.

Origins by Mark Henrikson [sci-fi]
Origins by Mark Henrikson

COM: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASI...
UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Origins-Mark-...

Plot: Dr. Holmes was thoroughly bored with his psychiatric profession until he met Hastelloy. The man is named after a durable metal capable of surviving under high-stress service where more common materials fail; ironic considering he’s an insane asylum patient.

Hastelloy is convinced he’s locked in a battle for the survival of mankind with the mysterious species Alpha. This conflict supposedly began when Hastelloy and his alien crew crashed on Earth during the time of ancient Egypt. Dr. Holmes listens with understandable skepticism to the patient’s story about his involvement with building the Great Pyramid and Sphinx, bringing about the rise of Pharaohs, and even assisting Moses with the slave exodus to the Promised Land. Is Hastelloy crazy, or is it crazy to ignore him?

Meanwhile, a group of archeologists make new discoveries in the Giza plateau. While investigating previously unknown chambers found inside the Great Pyramid and Sphinx they come face to face with elements intent on preserving those secrets. Egypt’s recorded history, and Hastelloy’s true mental state, are drawn into question by what they find.

All the while a National Security Agent grapples with NASA amid the launch of a new deep space probe capable of broadcasting a message that will be heard by others. Is this threat a product of NSA paranoia or an attempt by alien influences on Earth to phone home? Both sides will stop at nothing to further their cause.

Mankind's past present and future are revealed in this gripping thriller that does not let go for a single page, and has enough twists and turns to test even the most sturdy safety harness. The Origins of all will be revealed.

The Krone Experiment by J. Craig Wheeler [sci-fi]
The Krone Experiment by J. Craig Wheeler

COM: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASI...
UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Krone-Exp...

Plot: This techno-thriller novel is set at the time of the break-up of the Soviet Union, yet reflects today's headlines. Damage to a Russian aircraft carrier leads to a breakdown in the detente with the United States. Star wars erupt as the two countries invoke space-based weapons in a deadly face off in orbit. Robert Issacs, Deputy Director of Scientific Intelligence for the CIA, and his top aide, Dr. Patricia Danielson, connect the carrier damage with a mysterious seismic signal. Thwarted by internal CIA politics, they put their careers at risk to engage in an unauthorized consultation with Jason, the secret group of physicists who consult for the government. Astrophysicist Alex Runyan advances a fantastic theory that triggers a race for the truth before the conflict with Russia can spin out of control. The quest leads to the New Mexico laboratory of Paul Krone. The true danger dwarfs that posed by the international crisis. Bonus links to historical background material are provided at the end of the book. The Krone saga continues in the sequel, Krone Ascending, also available for Kindle.

In Your Dreams by Amy Martin

COM: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASI...
UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/In-Your-Dream...

Plot: Sixteen-year-old Zara "Zip" McKee lives for three things: basketball, books, and bailing out of tiny Titusville, Illinois, where the junior high and high school are in the same building and everyone's known everyone else since birth. But when Kieran Lanier moves to town and passes out on her desk on his first day at school, Zip's life gets complicated in a way she never dreamed.

Kieran has narcolepsy, and although he sometimes struggles to stay awake, he has no trouble capturing Zip's heart and trusting her with his most guarded secret--he sees bits and pieces of the future in his dreams.

But just when Zip thinks that maybe she can handle having a boyfriend who sees things before they happen, her budding relationship with Kieran gets a jolt when Kieran's parents reveal that his sleeping disorder is not what it seems and may be putting them in harm's way. And when Zip begins to have unsettling dreams, she must decide if she can live with knowing the future in advance when she's afraid of what might happen.

1632 (Assiti Shards #1) by Eric Flint [Alternative History]
1632 by Eric Flint

COM: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASI...
UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/1632-Ring-Fir...

Plot: "The Ultimate Y2K Glitch....

1632 In the year 1632 in northern Germany a reasonable person might conclude that things couldn't get much worse. There was no food. Disease was rampant. For over a decade religious war had ravaged the land and the people. Catholic and Protestant armies marched and countermarched across the northern plains, laying waste the cities and slaughtering everywhere. In many rural areas population plummeted toward zero. Only the aristocrats remained relatively unscathed; for the peasants, death was a mercy.

2000 Things are going OK in Grantville, West Virginia. The mines are working, the buck are plentiful (it's deer season) and everybody attending the wedding of Mike Stearn's sister (including the entire membership of the local chapter of the United Mine Workers of America, which Mike leads) is having a good time.

THEN, EVERYTHING CHANGED....

When the dust settles, Mike leads a small group of armed miners to find out what's going on. Out past the edge of town Grantville's asphalt road is cut, as with a sword. On the other side, a scene out of Hell; a man nailed to a farmhouse door, his wife and daughter Iying screaming in muck at the center of a ring of attentive men in steel vests. Faced with this, Mike and his friends don't have to ask who to shoot.

At that moment Freedom and Justice, American style, are introduced to the middle of The Thirty Years War
