It could be Legend by Marie Lu. In Legend Day's mother is killed and his brothers are captured and then June helps him escape.

The book is about a young male who lives in a lower part of a society divided by military(upperclass) and common folk. All children are forced to take a test that determines whether or not they will join the military or stay in lower class. The main character is branded as a criminal for taking supplies from military to give to the common folks. He is capture once when his mother(I think) was killed to lure him out and his younger sister and brother captured and imprisoned. After which he was sentenced to be executed when he was helped out by a Young female officer which he falls in love with and some outlaws. Oh and while he was escaping his younger brother posed as him and was executed in his place. They got like futuristic plasma guns and this bomb that stops all electronics from working for 20-30seconds. Read the book 10th or 11th grade year 2011-13 around there.
