I've said it before, we read fast and barely have any social life. Last year, being off sick from work did help as well.
I Challenged to get to 60 books. I currently work full time and go to college full time, so I think 60 is reasonable to aim for with everything else going on. However I graduate in May, so I might just set that higher after. I'm already to 17, so that's not too bad for how much homework I'm doing!
I've been at least one book ahead all year and just today I fell one book behind. Guess that means I need to ignore everything and just read this weekend, right?
I have set my goal at 75 but it doesn't look like I am going to make it. I was one book behind, then two, now three. I have been reading 500 page books, so that could be the problem.
My goal is 40. I'm really not sure how it will go. When I read fiction I run through books like there is no tomorow. However non-fiction is slower because I'm trying to learn and enjoy the history lesson. I think they will balance out, but I'll up my goal if it makes sense.I'm stunned that people can read 100+ books in a year. I read during my 2 hour round trip commute, my lunch hour and a bit in the evenings and I'm a fast reader. But I do like big (500+) books and intricate histories so I guess my number works for me.
I'm currently 4 books behind which is one less than last month. My goal is 125 and I've read 18 books so far.
I had to reduce my goal a bit, as I wasn't keeping up. I am useless at maths and initially set it at 150. Too much! I've reduced it to 100 for now, but may change it again soon.
This is the first year I have taken the challenge so I set a goal I knew I could reach of 24. I am currently one book ahead of pace. I am a slow reader and have limited time for reading for pleasure but I am working on both of those impediments.
I don't set a goal for the year. I keep all that I have read for the year in a book so I can just see what I read. So far I'm 22 in this year. Last year I read 114 for the whole year. I actually hope I read more than that this year. We shall see.
I've set a goal of 100 books but it looks like I might have to increase it because I'm almost halfway through it. First time I've done the challenge and it's kind of cool to set a goal like that for the year.
I signed up for 25 books this year and so far I am on track. I love to read but with working full time and having teenagers I just can't find the time any more. Before I had a family I read about 75 a year.
I'm shooting for 100 as well! I got started a bit late but I like a hefty challenge. Good luck book nerds, may good reads be with you!
I'm still ahead for reading so much the first few months of the year, but have slowed down a lot now (mini book rut)
This is the first time I've done the challenge and I set it at 150 which seemed reasonable. I'm currently on book 56 (37%) and 15 books ahead of schedule so I maybe could have been a bit more ambitious.
I goaled myself for 50 books this year but I think I'm going to be past that! Which make me giddy happy! :)
What are your thoughts on changing your goal? I set mine at 40 but quickly ended up way ahead so I've bumped it to 70. I never realised just how much reading I actually do.

Then too, I love watching that number go up so it's a real motivator for me! :)
Like Caroline I've set this year's reading goal at 150. A couple of days ago I regestered 75, putting me at the halfway point. My goals for the two previous years were also originally set at 150 but I increased them to 200. Both years I reached my revised goal and then some. I don't see this year being any different but I plan to wait a couple of months before officially revising my goal. I don't want to bite off more than I can chew.
This post is for anyone who is struggling to meet their goal. I read 15-20 books per month. Yes, I gave a normal life. I ALWYS have a book, Nook or iPad close at hand. If I have five minutes, I read. I read in drive thrus, in the tub, in the bathroom, at the ballpark between innings. Don't give up. The more you read, the better you will read. If you read 1 or 2 books a month and enjoy those books....then good for you. I read because I must read. I read because it gives me pleasure, contentment, satisfaction and sometimes, a little knowledge sneaks in there, as well

I lowered mine to 75, to accommodate other areas of my life, and I am already halfway there. I have temporarily given up writing reviews, and I skipped the Spring seasonal Challenge. So, I just reading whatever appeals to me at the moment-a nice change. Will likely up mine, like you, Thom, I do not want to bite off too much! Happy Spring! Our snow is finally gone here!
Current goal is 75, have read 37-so I am 15 books ahead, so far. Will likely up mine, but not yet. Heavy duty gardening season coming up!
Jim wrote: "well I initially set my goal at fifteen, but since I'm already reading book #15, I changed it to 55"God for you. Good luck with your new goal.
My goal last year was 65. I didn't make it. So, I set my sight on 65 again. This year is already going much better and I am now ahead by 2. That is saying a lot for me considering last year I had no drive for it. But, this year the reading bug is finally hitting me and I have not been far from a book in months!

I hope you are able to continue doing that and that you also continue to receive pleasure from reading when you do. I have a need to spend some time every day reading 9or I am like an addict in need of a fix, lol.
Stephanie wrote: "My goal for this year is 25. It's the same as last year but I didn't make the goal. I was one or two books short. I had a great start so far. I am two books ahead. Woot Woot!"Good for you. If you should reach 35 books and still have a good bit of time left in the year, why not consider adjusting your goal number to maybe 50. Hope you continue to find books that you enjoy reading.

I think I am back to myself or at least a little stronger from the changes. I am 3 books ahead and so very happy about that! :)
I have read 81 of 212 so I am 3 books behind the pace I need to be. Hopefully I can make that up pretty quickly
I've read 46 books towards my 55 book challenge; 24 books ahead of schedule in barely the first half of the year. But I'm not going to raise the bar yet until I beat my goal because I don't know what life will bring and how much I'll be able to read in the future. I'd rather raise my number than lower it.
I've upped my number a few times and am currently 17 books ahead of 80. I don't want to raise it yet because I've been on a short book kick, I think things will slow down when I get to some of the thicker books in my library.
I hope to read 100 books by the end of the year. With work and home duties I will end each work day with some reading. And also on my much needed days off!!
I wasn't keeping up so I lowered my amount again. 70. I can up it again if I reach it before the end of the year.

I know! My goal is only 25, but I feel like that's a good number for me. However, I teach high school English and I don't count the books I'm reading with my classes. But 100+ books?! How do people do that?
