I thought this was pretty good. I guess now we know how Molly got her apartment. We also learn a bit more about the Fomor, which look to be the new bad guys on the block even if Harry hasn't dealt with them much.
I like getting a different POV than Harry too. Like the Murphy story from Side Jobs or Thomas in Backup
Now I have to wait until May for more Dresden. I wonder how much the Fomar will factor into Skin Game.

That said, I feel like Butcher's voices for Murphy, Thomas, and Marcone (from Dark and Stormy Knights) were significantly stronger than his voice for Molly. She came off as a kind of less confident Dresden, which was sad because I expected her to have a more unique personality.
Ah well, it didn't take too much away from my enjoyment of the story, and I always like getting that look at things going on outside of Harry's immediate vicinity.

My question is: Do I need background information or is this story fine for a Dresden newbie?
You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't read the series IMHO.
I'm not sure how much would make sense to you. You should probably just skip it.

Looking forward to more Harry soon but this was a nice visit to his world.

All of you people spoiling the Dresden series by reading this makes me very sad.
The series gets much much better after Storm Front too.

This. 100% true. I appreciated Storm Front after reading White Night, but not until then. My wife started with Fool Moon and didn't regret it.

I've read a bunch of Urban Fantasy in the past. Just Dresden now though. Nothing else compares for me.

*cough*read Zero Sight*cough*
I even sang a song about it, what more do you want?!

Nah, without having read the story I probably wouldn't read Stormfront at all. That should make you happy :)

Being a Dresden Files fan, I will say I liked Storm Front but almost didn't continue. Much like the Sookie Stackhouse books, the first book was meh. I was entertained, it was alright. The series really builds. It wasn't until the third book Grave Peril that I was truly hooked.
