Stephanie Tuell (booksloveme) I am almost done my first Childrens book. But now I need an illustrator. Where do I find one? do most authors use computers or hand draw? Also, do I publish the same way I have published my other ebook? I ask because my first book wasn't long enough for print, but I would really like this book in print, but its not going to be 24 pages long for create a space.

Victoria Pearson | 25 comments I found my illustrator (Laura Brown) through www.Cooke-Arts.com They are fairly new to book illustrating though, so you have to be very specific about what you want/need, but Amanda Cooke (Laura's agent) was very helpful, friendly and accommodating and, because they are new to cover art/illustrations, you do end up with really unique artworkat the end of it. Laura did this cover for me: Strange Worlds - Surreal Stories and Tainted Tales (Strange Stories #2) by Victoria Pearson and I was very specific about what I wanted, but her artwork isn't all as surreal asnbthat (I think there is more on the website)
Hope this helps a little, good luck x

Jon Etheredge (jonetheredge) | 495 comments Stephanie - if you're keen on line drawings done in a charming primitive style, I know an as-yet-unpublished artist who needs work. I was pressuring a friend to write a children's story and became stuck when faced with the need for The Right Kind of Artist. The friend demurred on the book and about a week later I was shown an illustration made by her son - a line drawing of his own son, made on a piece of turtle shell. It just clicked. I asked to see a portfolio and he brought me two pencil sketches of nudes (think Jack Dawson's sketch of Rose). Not suitable for a children's book, but they showed an impressive range of skill. If you'd like, I'll ask him to whip up a couple of suitable illustrations to show you what he can do. I'll scan them and PM them to you.

I won't post his name until you decide, keeping you at the head of the line.

IMHO, he'd be my first choice for the particular story I tried to get his mother to write.

Stephanie Tuell (booksloveme) Victoria I will check out the link. Jon, that would be helpful. I am looking for a friendly looking monster type drawing if that helps.

I'll try, but I won't see him again until this cold snap ends. I'll PM you when I have a couple of scans.
