It was a book of scary short stories for young adults, and the cover had a picture of a house or a street covered in green leaves or vines. There may also have been a boy on the cover in a yellow raincoat. The cover was related to one of the stories which was a "Day of the Triffids" type story about people being attacked by plants, with a young boy as the main character.
Either that story, or another story in the same book, was titled "They're coming for you, Jonathan" with a boy called Jonathan who kept hearing that phrase whispered in his head but didn't know what it meant. "They" could have referred to the plants attacking if it was the same story as the above. I think Jonathan's family thought he was mentally ill because he was hearing voices.
Another story in the book was about a house which had an ornament or small statue of a man or creature with its arm held out pointing. If anyone moved the statue it would swivel around so that it continued to point in the same direction. One day, a boy gets up and follows the pointing finger, and it leads him to a hole in the ground where he falls in and dies.
Until today I was convinced that the title of this book was "They're coming for you Jonathan," but I have googled it with absolutely no success. (I tried various spellings of the name Jonathan too!)
Hoping somebody else has read it... any clues?
