That can be a problem with the Dresden books, as it can be with a lot of especially good books. When you finish it's hard to find something else that draws you in.

Finished Dead Beat (Audiobook version). Loved it. Although a bit overplayed, I think, I loved Butters. Mouse is so sweet and I'm really liking Thomas.Spoiler
(view spoiler)
I'm sure it's a matter of taste but I like Codex Alera but think his Dresden books are magnitudes better. When you get a chance give them a try.
I'm annoyed that I finally decide to give the audio a try and today ended up being a snow day, so no commute. Waaaah! I want to know what happens!!
Fair enough, but I don't think I even have a listening device that plays CDs inside my house? And also, not sure my 3-year-old would have enjoyed it -- we were stuck home instead all day today due to an ice storm.
Three year olds love everything... Most DVD players will play CDs as will most computers. I listened to a CD book today on my PS2...
Just got to the Club Zero part of this book, and suddenly became very happy I was not listening to this with my three-year-old.
He's a little parrot so whether he "gets" it isn't as stressful to me as if he repeats it. At school. ;)
I've been delayed starting the next book, Proven Guilty. Family things and now a cold have shortened my attention span. Hopefully better next week. I am caught up with the short stories. Love the Bigfoots.
I am loving Turncoat, and the reading is excellent, though I do wish I had a bit more time to listen. Especially so now as I'm in the end conflict portion and REALLY want to know what the heck happens! I will say that the treatment of women is pretty creepy in this book. (view spoiler) I still love the series, and will continue, but just wanted to revisit this particular point.
I got Side Jobs but haven't read Changes yet. Can I read all but the last story without spoiling myself?
This one is audio so it will take me awhile to work through anyway. I will save aftermath for after Changes. Thanks!
Started Proven Guilty in audiobook. I was really irritated in the first 45 minutes with Dresden defending a young killer over the many victims of said killer. But now, we've reached Molly and I think she is delightful, so I'm enjoying the book. It's going to take me a few days. Pressure is on though. I have been told that it's only 80some days before the next Dresden book comes out.
Mike (the Paladin) wrote: "I have all the books from the third on in audio. It's a good way as Marsters is a good reader."Marsters is an excellent reader! =) I think I own them all (which makes me happy!).... maybe got Storm Front from the library.
I totally agree. Love Marsters. There are only 2 audiobooks that I don't own. I've been waiting for a special either at Audible or CD. It's one of the very few series that other family members will listen to, so having all of them is beneficial.
Finished Proven Guilty. Wow, another exciting story, not much different from a thriller. Will start White Night in a few days. Trying to finish a buddy read and a group read before the end of the month.
You guys have totally convinced me on the audio. I got Changes from the library in audio even though I already own it in paperback. It came in just in time for me to finish all the short stories except Aftermath. Can't wait to see how crazy this new plot twist makes poor Harry. This can't end well.
So I just finished book 4 of the Dresden Files series and I noticed there's a TV show... One season it looks like. Is it worth checking out?

I discovered the show before the novels and liked both. I don't know how I would have felt doing so the other way around.
I have the DVDs there is only one season. It's okay but I regard it as a story where some of the characters happen to have the same names as people in Butcher's books. The two have very little resemblance.
To re-read or not to re-read, that is the question...I'm avoiding the early release chapters. I know that it will be torture having to stop after ONLY chapter 1 or 2. I want to sail right through the entire book, cover to cover!
I already did a full reread. I'll probably do another the weeks before.I skip the prerelease stuff too. Its too much of a tease.
I've avoided this dilemma thus far, being that I'm on my first read. In the middle of Changes and loving it!
I'm easing through a reread of the Dresden books. And trying not to think about time, it's passing, the wait for the next book...and my age.
...I'm now interested in like 4 or 5 new series...will I make it? Is there time? Do we get advanced copies of novels we like in Heaven?
I found I also don't much care for preview chapters either. I think it's a personal preference thing.I'm currently listening to Side Jobs right now. I'll move on to Turn Coat the beginning of May. I'm trying to finish up all these books-in-progress that I've got going.
Emily wrote: "I'm still listening to Changes - about 7 discs (of 12?) in. [spoilers removed]"Well, its called Changes for a reason :P
I finished Side Jobs today, skipping Aftermath until I read Changes. Lots of great short stories. Finishing up a couple short books and then will start Turn Coat, which is already ripped and ready for loading on the ipod.
Emily...I tried your posted link and couldn't find any Dresden Files books for $1.99 per book.--
