End of 2013 Panic Read-a-long

Spent part of Christmas Eve at the theater watching the 3D version of the second installment of the Hobbit movie series. Great fun.
The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings series is a great adventure. Hard to believe how old it is!☺
I hope you are enjoying it.

Haven't read it but it sounds as though it would make me hungry! Are you liking it?

Australia Time is a lot more difficult than Michigan Time!
Oh and guess what finally showed up at the library. Yep, the Zee book that I had wanted to read. :(

And I'm very much laughing on the time. WELCOME TO MY WORLD!!! But this is informal so who cares about the time! Read all the things you need to, Although it's nearly the 30th and I have most of 2 books to go. I think I need to realise it's not going to happen... Bah.

50 pages to go in ZD. I want to go snuggle into bed and read, but I am sure I will fall asleep. Better to sit here at my desk and keep on reading.
Almeta - sorry about your Z book. I took a look at Zone One. Nope - not for me. I do hope it gets better for you. What was the one you WANTED to read? Breakfast time yet?
Sorry to hear about everyone being/getting sick. I am lucky. Unberufen roughly, that means "knock on wood". Isn't reading wonderful?

Sickies have gotten enough tissues and whiskey to get them through a day of reading?
Judy's right Suzie, this is EXACTLY why you have two.
Those of us not sick, how we doing on whatever the hell we are wanting to knock over in the next couple of days?

It is breakfast time here, 8:22 am, and I'm going to go whip up a couple of eggs with ham sprinkles and shredded cheese.
Zero Cool: A Novel by John Lange (aka Michael Crichton) is part of a mystery noir collection called Hard Case Crime. The selections are written by different authors, often ones that aren't well known for the noir mystery genre, but well known none the less.
This one, #41 in the collection, was written in 1969...It is no Doorstop, so now what?
Do I let it slide back to the library system unread? Do I pick it up and start the New Year with a book that "won't count"? Do I try to make it count by (right off the bat) rearranging my connections? Hmmmmm.☻

I hope you are all enjoying your books and that the other sickies are feeling a bit better.

We're pulling for you, Esther, how did you do?
Still about 300 pages of trade paerback Spanish. So slooooow reading. 3 days to go, probably not going to happen. But I will try.
Sorry about so many of you being sick.

Well I have found brandy coffees and tiger balm has done me wonders today so I have about 50 pages left of The Hobbit to go. I've never read it before and I'm really enjoying it. It's getting me really excited about watching the second part of the film.

I am going to bed for a couple hours. Then, I still need to finish my 2013 book goal.
Almeta - I did not know Michael Crichton used an alias! Hard questions. Do what your heart tells you, but I wouldn't break my links for anything right now. I have left open the door to reading books that "do not count" for the challenge. I have many others to read that are not on my posted lists. It just happens! :)

I apparently can't read under pressure. Today I went shopping, made a puzzle, baked muffins, cooked, and then read two chapters of my book. I'll try to read a few more tonight.

Small is at his dads which has been good as I feel do dreadful. But he's coming back here tomorrow. Yippee. Hopefully I'll be feeling a bit better.

As for myself, I really don't have any 12/31/13 deadlines pressing, so I'm just reading on. Yesterday I finished reading Allegiant and One Day of Life, then started Memories of My Melancholy Whores, which I finished early this morning. Now I'm about halfway through Never Love a Highlander. That will be #109 for the year, so I'm sure I'll be able to finish with #110 or maybe #112, depending on which book(s) I choose next.

Ditto. I just found this "challenge" and I'm in! I want to try to finish reading No Quest For The Wicked and Insurgent. I wouldn't mind making some real headway on Texas.
I plan on staying up to ring in the New Year and start reading my first Chunkster for that challenge. I'm really chomping at the bit for that one.

But I've started At Bertram's Hotel by Agatha Christie & Royal Airs by Sharon Shinn for 2 out of the four I want to finish by the end of the year.

Now I'm moving on to To Kill a Mockingbird - I'm already 20% in as I started it during one the Topplers we had but I ran out of time then I put it on the back burner. It's an annoying copy though as it is a pdf being viewed on my kindle so there are huge gaps between each sentence.

Finished second YLTO! Alphabet with my Z title entry Zone One.
Moving on to The Black Mountain by Rex Stout, which is the last book necessary for the Around the World in 52 Books Challenge.
These were the last two necessary to complete all my 2013 challenges. I'm going to make it!☺
Still want to squeeze in Snow Flower and the Secret Fan for the YLTO! December group read.

Almeta, I ended up reading something entirely different instead. Beauty From Pain
I have given up on ABC and the year challenge as it's unrealistic to be able to finish them now. :( Next year perhaps!

I haven't written any reviews for last the last 10 or so books because it takes time and I wanted to get my books done for challenges. I'm going to spend a bit of time the first week of January catching up on them all!

Glad to hear some of you are feeling better (tiger balm is slightly magical I think). Hope you feel better by the time Small comes home Suzie.

I am the procrastinator queen.
Good on you for not being one.

Going to bed!
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan for the YLTO! December group read is next.

Congratulations, Cherie and Almeta for finishing your challenges!

Sandy

Good reading to all.
Congratulations for finishing your 2nd Alphabet, and your Around The World in 52 Book Challenge, Almeta!!!!

You're nearly there Esther!
I've just got up and it's dark, cold, wet and windy outside so I'm not going anywhere today! Going to finish To Kill a Mockingbird - I'm really liking it and I've managed to change the line spacing on my kindle which makes it a bit easier to read too.

Feel better. I hate that "I'm about to get sick, but not yet sick and can't actually whinge" feeling.
Although if I had to read a book in that state, The Hobbit is a good one.
Sandy, your books sound interesting. You mind throwing us the links to we can look at them and possibly steal them?
