I'm glad that you've decided to join the challenge and that you figured out how to add your thread. Please link your books by using "add book/author" link above the comment box. If you are on a mobile device using an app, you won't be able to do that, of course. But, you can edit to add them once you are at a computer.
I had to come see what you were starting with... Yowsa!! Those are some Chunksters! I haven't read any Dickens and will look forward to your comments.
Hi Scott. *waves*. I had to come and see too. I have not read either of your Dickens books, but I watched the BBC mini-series of the 2nd one. I am still working on my lists.

I'm nervous about two Dickens in a row, but each time I start to chose a book, they stare at me. I have book guilt which I'm hoping I will now resolve...lol
Haha, yeah, I'm not sure I'd read two of his in a row either, but I've heard Little Dorrit is also good. You can always change your picks though, if you're not feeling it when the time comes.
The good thing is that within a milestone, you can read the books in any order. So you can start the challenge with a Dickens, read the 4 other books, and then the second Dickens.Good to see that you have The Book Thief in there too. We might be able to do another buddy read!

WOOP WOOP!! Picked my Maurauders books. Selecting the books proves harder than I originally thought. Both because I want to choose those I really want to read next year, and choosing ones that somehow connect. Loving the challenge of it.

I'm enjoying all the excitement.... and joining in on it. I'll finally put a high priority on the Harry Hole series and get it finished.
It is very exciting. Wishing 2014 would come sooner so we can get started! The problem is, I keep seeing great ideas and thinking of adding them too. I too want to read the Harry Hole series but I don't own them (yet!) and trying desperately to keep the challenge limited to books I own.
I'm running into the same issue...that and...a lot of books that hit just below 500 and trying not to double too much. lol
I just don't know how everyone can keep writing Harry Hole with a straight face. I'm sorry it just cracks me up.

Your list keeps getting better and better! It will be fun to follow your progress. I'm going to get Jane Eyre read this year too. I remember Cherie having a good time with it this year.
It is getting better. Scott!! You have one of my favorites just added....Tom Jones! And I haven't even finished it yet but dying to just reread from the beginning. That is the funniest book if you like dry, sarcastic humor. Do you audio? If so, I'll look up the narrator for mine. He is so excellent. Oh, I love that book. And it is SO hard to push on people. Nothing about it appeals to most people. If a good friend hadn't repeatedly tried to push it on me, I'd have never tried it. I love that it's on your list!! :)))
I'm excited about these. Most are the books I've had on my to read list for a long time, this challenge might actually get me into them. I have a bad habit of winding off on other reads as they come along.

My daughter got Vanity Fair and Pickwick Papers for Xmas and now I'm wishing I had treated myself to them as well...but I'm going to be good this year...well I'm going to try..lol
How old is your daughter, Scott (if you don't mind me asking)? Pretty ambitious reading for a young person!
She's 18, and she's got the bug. Tho, Wuthering Heights is like a four letter word for her...In her words..."worst book ever!" lol. She's off to university this coming fall.
Heh well laid plans...Hope your daughter enjoys them Scott. I read so many classics in my first year at University. I couldn't believe people had kept so many good books from me!! completely ignoring of course how there is a limit to what they could teach me in school. I did indignant 18 yr old so well...
Scott I found it very funny that you " thought" about swiping your daughter's book. I read this right after I was looking for my library book Storm Front which my visiting 22 year old son swiped from me to read!

Sophie's Choice? I was hoping that would be a fast read. Well, considering how long it is. You have an ambitious list, Scott!! It is nice you're joining Peggy, though. Long books are always better with a buddy. :)
Sophie's Choice is a different read for me...one minute I'm close to tossing it, and then the next chapter, I really enjoy. Hoping it all ties together as the story unfolds.
For all three of us, Scott! Not to rush along, but have you decided what you are going to tackle next?
I'm thinking Bleak House its the largest of the reads in Slick's slugs, and I am anxious to knock one of Dickens off my shelf. Its one of those that I'm always going to read and just never get settled down to actually opening.
