I actually ended up skimming a lot of Juliette's inner dialogue because it just drove me nuts. But can we just talk about Warner?? What's your game, young man? Chapters 1-10: (view spoiler)[ I'm loving the interaction between warner and Juliette. Finally we get to hear his reasoning for how he treated her in the first book. And I agree with him, she needs to stop lying to herself about her feelings for him. Also, if her reason for being with Adam is because he was kind to her - girl, he's a friend. That is all. You need passion in a romantic relationship and you do not have that with Adam. (hide spoiler)]

I'm wondering why both Adam and the other guy (whose name escapes me) are able to touch her without dying.

I'm also really curious what her powers are exactly.

I'm curious about the world and what's happening to it.

Are her parents alive?

I want to know more about Castle and his band of 'superheroes'.

I decided to give these book a try it's been sitting on my shelves too long.

Chapter 1-8
(view spoiler)[ so Juliette is locked in a insane place and she can't touch people or something bad will happen. But she's given a cellmate which she noticed maybe they trying to kill her because her cellmate is a man which ends up being a Soldier. But Warner the ones in charge needs something from her. (view spoiler)[ so much is going on it’s hard for me to put this book down! We now know what Adam can do - basically disabling another persons abilities. What would this do in a fight against people who don’t have abilities though? But this obviously makes it hard for him and Juliette. They both kind of have to work to turn off their ability and who can focus like that when you’re cuddling, kissing, etc. Warner’s Dad is in the picture and it seems that he has some big plans because he feels like Warner basically can’t handle things. Warner wants Juliette spared and his dad sees that as a weakness. Adam see’s Warner’s Dad and says hat it’s his dad — WHHHAAATTT?!? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ after reading the novella Destroy Me I had a bit of a different outlook on Warner. I got a little softer for him seeing things through his eyes. This is only intensifying the further I get in to this book. It doesn’t completely change everything but Omega Point is willing to kill to save their own and do what they feel is right - isn’t that the same as Warner? His dad wasn’t exactly a positive influence and/or role model. I’m really looking forward to seeing how things play out with him in Omega Point and with Adam too. When will Castle find out that Warner’s Dad is Adams? And James!! Wanting to hear more about his ability too! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I have the feelings. All of them...I am so unsure of Warner and kind of confused of Anderson at this point. Omega Point ambushed and I'm worried about the others, but. Anderson SHOT her! I get that he wanted to see if they could heal her, but I then wonder why he went off and about doing his own thing instead of seeing the healing? Channeling the girls powers through Warner was a great idea on his part and I'm happy it worked - I can't wait to see Juliettes new take on everything. That girl is ready to kick some butt and there are many people deserving of it! Warner has me teetering and tottering. He escaped and then did go back and provide a bunch on information to his dad, but he obviously really loves Juliette. Uh boys are more confusing that girls! haha (hide spoiler)]

And how she repeats things to herself. It's great writing and really shows how being in isolation has affected her. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 30 (view spoiler)[ I like how the longer Juliette interacts with people and isn't in the asylum, she stops repeating things as much or having those crossed out thoughts. It's like the author wants us to see that she's coming out of her head and making progress. I also like all the comparisons (similies?) she makes. Like her eyes being windows cracked by chaos. I’m about 80% in already but have been reminded of how (view spoiler)[ fiercely I HATE Juliette. She’s such a weak character! This whole book all she does is react to the characters and situations around her; she never takes initiative or says/does anything brave. The only remarkable thing about her is the power she was born with.
Also, all the hyperboles in her head get to be too much. It only takes a side glance from one of her love interests and already she’s like “omg all my organs are on the floor”. Get a grip girl! 🙄 (hide spoiler)]

While I like some of the flowery metaphors - for example, the whole page about Juliette considering herself a character comprised of letters and words - I think there are far too many of them. I wish the author had dialed back on the abstract and focused more on fleshing out the love interests and making her dystopia work. The metaphors are so numerous that they detract from the plot, in my opinion. (hide spoiler)]
