Year Long Nora Roberts Read-A-Thon
Yes, to both questions! Anything you want. And re-reads are perfectly fine. I always find it interesting to re-read an author and see how my feelings may have changed.I'm working on a plan for the books I want to read, but anything you read, just come on and post and chat about it. I've done this with Jayne Anne Krentz as well, and it seemed to work pretty well.
Here's at least some of my list. Vision in White
Bed of Roses
Savor the Moment
Happy Ever After
The Next Always - 03/23-26/14 ★★★★
The Last Boyfriend - 06/23/14 ★★★★
The Perfect Hope - 07/24/14 ★★★★★
Dark Witch 02/07-08/14 ★★★★
Shadow Spell 06/28/14 ★★★★
Blood Magick 10/30-31/14 ★★★★
The Witness - 04/14-16/14 ★★
Chasing Fire
Whiskey Beach - 09/26-27/14 ★★★★
Sounds great! Welcome!! If ya'll want to post a list of books you plan to read, that would be great. I am still pulling mine together. I know what I will be reading in January and February, so I will post that.
Sounds great, Lauren. I've read some of her more recent ones and like them alot. Recently finished
and really liked it, which is why I started this challenge. All the reviews kept talking about a previous series of hers that it resembled.
I haven't gotten to
yet even though I have it. Quite a few of my friends say that it is like the Sign of Seven Trilogy, which I really enjoyed.
Yes, that's one I really want to read. I don't have a problem with an author doing something over again - if I like it. For me that's a comfort.

I must say the Sign of Seven is darker in tone that Nora's usual fare but I liked that.

Hi Gea! It works however you would like. Basically, you can read a book a month and come on here and post about it so we can all chat about what you are reading. If you read more than that, great - if you miss a month, no worries! Some of us are posting our lists so we have an idea of what we want to read. Pretty easy.
Hm, I might participate in this thread if I get around to reading any Nora this year. I'm interested in the Dark Witch, etc. trilogy this year. I also want to read her Bridal Quartet and Inn Boonsboro sets.
I'll definitely be reading those this year (except for the Bride quartet as I've already read that one). Loved the Bride Quartet. Light and frothy and fun! Read the first Inn Boonsboro book and liked and loved Dark Witch! Can't wait for the next one to come out.I'm reading
and so far it's great. Love the premise - very fast paced.
I'm almost finished with it. Having a hard time putting it down. Love the two main characters. I have a soft spot for socially awkward people!!
I'm kinda surprised. I LOVED the Key Trilogy. Granted it's been YEARS since I read it. It always surprised me how differently people react to the same stories. I should be used to it by now LOL
I am avidly making note of all the comments here as I've never heard of the Key Trilogy. Now I need to add it to see what the talk is about!I only managed one book this month, I'm hoping for more in February.
Finished
- a relatively light hearted read, which reminded me of why I enjoy Nora’s writing so much.
For February, my goal is to read
which is the second in a fun, light trilogy and
which is a stand alone. The McKade Brothers is a series I have marked down to read.
I have
on my bookshelf but haven't read it. I did see the TV movie (which was kind of meh) and it put me off reading the book. Might re-evaluate that decision this year.
I liked the description and the reviews seemed pretty good. The few NR movies (mostly on Lifetime or Hallmark) that I've watched have not been well done. So I ignore that factor.
I'm starting the Chesapeake Bay Saga this month with
.This is one of her older series and was recommended to me.
About the Key trilogy - I remember I liked it but really can't remember what it was about ..
The Chesapeake Bay series is excellent, Skandia. One of my absolute favorites. The Key Trilogy is about three women who are on a quest to locate three keys - they are the descendents or reincarnations (can't remember which) of three Fey princesses depicted in a painting. That's all I remember from the first book other than my favorite character was the dog, lol!
Chesapeake Bay series was the first one I've read from Nora Roberts and it still remains my favorite one.I have read her following series:
Chesapeake Bay
In the Garden
Dream Trilogy
Born In
Which of her series would be most like those above?
Yeah, for the most part the movies have been meh. There were 2 that I really liked though, and one they never seem to rerun, which I assumes is only because of the whole affair thing that happened with Leanne Rhimes and Eddie Cibrian.@Lauren, the Angels Fall book is so much better than the movie. But I'm kind of biased since I've never really hated anything by NR.

Whic..."
I suggest her The Gallaghers Of Ardmore trilogy(my absolute favorite of all her trilogies) - straight contemporary or Three Sister's Island trilogy - slight paranormal.
Or if you like just straight up paranormal ala vampires there's The Circle Trilogy or Sign of Seven trilogy.

====i like that series, its actually one of may favorite... The Seven Sign series really creeped me out.....
Welcome to the challenge Questian. You've got your reading cut out for you with all those series :0)Gea wrote: "Chesapeake Bay series was the first one I've read from Nora Roberts and it still remains my favorite one."
I second the Gallaghers of Ardmore series - it is the most similar to the ones you mentioned. Nevertheless, I actually preferred her PNR ones, especially Sign of Seven. It has an excellent Stephen King vibe going on.

Thanks Calila. You're right about the movies not being a good reflection of the book. So I'm going to include Angels Fall on my list :0)
The movies for Northern Lights and Carolina Moon were pretty good - the others were disappointing.

i know right....i may have to reserve a month for re-reading her books...i'm reading my old series from last year's list...that have been in my TBR for like a year...
And i agree with you on the Seven Series. It really made the hair on the back of my neck rose...just thinking about it makes me cringe in fear...

My favorites of her books turned movies were Northern Lights and High Noon.
~Leslie~ wrote: "My NR list is groaning!"Why? i think have like the complete list of her series...not sure of it though...
(view spoiler)
I just finished Sea Swept and I must say, you ladies were all right, this was a really good start to this series. I loved Quinn brothers and their interaction with each other and with Seth. Definitely will continue with the series. Also in my opinion the older trilogies and series are much better than her newer ones.
Skandia wrote: "I just finished Sea Swept and I must say, you ladies were all right, this was a really good start to this series. One of the first that comes to mind is her Bride Quartet, starting with Vision in White. I'm finding I have to pick and choose with her books, so I wind up getting a lot from my library first.
The Bride Quartet was my first Nora Roberts and I loved it. I had avoided her before that. But I really enjoy her Romantic Suspense the most.
i do agree with you guys...her Time Was series is also good. the same withbthe Mac Kade brothers...but those are like really old series...still they are nice.
~Leslie~ wrote: "The Bride Quartet was my first Nora Roberts and I loved it. I had avoided her before that. But I really enjoy her Romantic Suspense the most."I've read a good bit of her writing as J.D. Robb, long before I ever got my Kindle or joined Goodreads. However, at some point for me, it just got to be too much to keep up on. I couldn't remember how some of the newer characters had come into the inner circle, and the plots started feeling like they were just repeating older ones, so I quit the series.
I've not had the opportunity to check out her Romantic Suspense novels, though I am hoping to if I need to substitute books. Although, I think Birthright might be a Romantic Suspense of hers, so I may be checking them out sooner than I think!
I just read Dark Witch, it fit into a challenge so yay!Love this. Great start to a new series by NR. It does stick to her typical template, 6 friends/strangers/family members (3 Male/3 Female) must band together to defeat a great evil. But it's not boring to me. The formula still works, because the characters make it. I cried from the very beginning with Sorcha. That broke my heart. I loved how Iona would babble all the time, and surprisingly her wide-eyed optimism didn't annoy me most of the time. Though the BIG ANGST with Boyle did irk me. And I do wish there was more of a connection to Boyle, I just didn't get enough insight into him. Can't wait for the rest of the series though!
