Even though it swas not satisfying,i feel this ending was a change from all the other generic endings in books.

I Can't continue living. I'm crying. Bc this book MUST NEED A SEQUEL.

Alii Ruiz It could be I love you, but it could also be:
I miss you
Please call me
I need you
Sorry I left
Come visit me

OMG! It could be SO many things..

I think you're very much left to interpret your own ending to the book.
Those three words could be anything

"I love you."
"Lets just stop"
"I've moved on"
"I'm Han Solo" (I like to think that was what she said, because I suppose it was an indirect "I love you")

I liked the ending because it was whatever the reader wanted it to be. If a sequel came out, I probably wouldn't read it because I would be afraid that it would ruin the story which is perfectly good as it is.

I would hate their story to have some cliché, cringey, "happy ever after" ending and I would also hate if something tragic or awful happened that crushed the hopes of them ever being together.

So I was satisfied with the end. It could mean anything but do we really need to know exactly what? The ending suits the kind of book Eleanor and Park is. There's really no need for a sequel.

this book is different than other love stories. it gives you the ending that you want.

I read the end, turned the page expecting a little more of an explanation and then realised it was the end. "WHAT?!?!" I turned the page back and forth not believing it then re-read the last page again..

Thinking about it now, it is a good ending but not good enough. I need to know what those 3 words were!!!

You can't end a book just like that!I mean.....ughh.That's not supposed to stand alone.

The "three words" ambiguity doesn't bother me. But I find it hard to believe that Eleanor would receive letters and packages almost daily for months and months and not even open them. I don't buy that.

No I was not.

Definitely not, but it was a really clean and to-the-point kind of ending so I like that.

BUT URGHHHHHHHH, IT MAKES ME WANT TO BAWL MY EYES OUT.
Hurts me emotionally in every way possible.

The ending was just like a typical relationship. Sometimes it's just better to leave a little mystery. That's exactly what Rowell did. No more, no less. She gave us just enough detail to keep us involved right along with her, then left us to fill in the blanks.

(think of Goldilocks for a second, wasn't too hot or too cold, it was just right)

I was happy with the ending but it could have been better :)

Although I do agree that the ending was vague. I must say that it was a novel that was very tastefully wrapped up. Bittersweet, to say the least. But still sweet indeed~

Technically, that wouldn't be "three words" since one of them is a connection-for example: I'm. Therefore, it would be four words, or two words and a conjunction.

Yes it was perfect exactly the way it was.

I'm believing that the words were I love you, because that's what I needed! the ending was killing me, the last page was a breath of fresh air! I did find out on an author's blog that rainbow is working on a sequel..EEEK! possibly with them in their 30's!! I'm dying!! <3

annoying ending yet the best it could possibly be

Hell no! What the fuck where the three words? I love you? I hate you? I killed somebody? WHAT THE FUCK WHERE THE THREE WORDS? This book was sweet, but had no real climax or wrap up. It didn't have a plot really either.

I was just glad Eleanor got away from that scary stepdad of hers. I thought at one point things were going to get really heavy with regards to Eleanor and him...
I liked Park and when he finally received the postcard from Eleanor, smiled, and felt like something heavy and winged had took off from his chest, I thought, awww bless him. Everything's ok between them.

Three words: Go F**k yourself XD no no I think it was I love you

No. What the hell. I wanted to kill everyone. I didn't know what happened at the end. *In pain*

Yes!!! I am not satisfied at all!! I was very sad and confused, and I wanted to know more. I felt super sad for Park and the ending made me want to at least see if they ever met again. I seriously was on the verge of crying. Although I know the three words are' I love you' it wasn't enough.

I never thought it could be anything BUT "I love you."

It really needs a part two. A sequel. It fucking does.

I am so happy with the ending :) :) :) the 3 words at the post card is obviously good cause Park felt relieved at the end and I am pretty sure it states "I Love You" because in the ENTIRE book Eleonor did not even told Park that phrase... ever :):) :) But Rainbow is really thinking about writing a sequel in their 30s huh Let's just pray that this would happen :) :)

As upset as I was about the ending, I think that is part of what made the book so good. Leaving what the postcard said and their future up to the reader and making it uncertain. I think that is just Rainbow Rowell's style. If there were to be a sequel I think it would ruin that uncertainty and kill a part of what makes her a great writer.

I really think it was I Love You. I mean, she never said it to him the entire story, even when he said it to her first. And I wonder what happened to the kids. I mean, we know that they're not in the house, but where'd they go?

I honestly adored the ending of Eleanor and Park. I imagine that the three words would be "I love you" since Eleanor failed to say it back to Park throughout the entire book (ugh, that made me so mad). I really enjoyed this ending though because those three words can be whatever you choose. Also, the reader can decide whether or not to believe that Eleanor and Park meet back up again and rekindle their relationship. I was impressed by how Rainbow Rowell chose to end the story in a more unique way. Definitely one of my favorites!

I liked the ending but I did not love it. However I was glad it was up to interpretation.

I personally think the ending needed a lot more than it did. I loved the novel but I have to say a sequel is needed

I hated it because ahhhh, I'm left with so many what if's. I hope it's "i love you" that she wrote just because she never said that to Park.

Even though I think must of the readers want to know what exactly where those three words, I totally agree that it's better the ambiguous ending that Rowell choose, because most of the time in real life relationships you don't always know if it's exactly the end or if there's another chance, not immediately anyways.. I think it was a great way to end the book, because you are expecting them to end together and happily ever after and then there's a sudden twist of events and in my opinion that makes you love the book a little bit more.

I hated the ending, but I loved it at the same time. It implied that Eleanor finally said I love you back, but it didn't give any answers about what happened with Eleanor's family. I usually love ambiguous endings as well, but I just got such a connection with Mouse, Maisie, Ben, and Little Richie that I felt upset when Rowell didn't explain what came of them. Either way it was a hundred times better than the ending of all the other YA books I've read.

I was expecting like a secual or just a epilogue... the end was a little sad so i want a happy end :( but i love Park <3

I wish there was a 2nd book, but this is so perfect. I loved the entire book. I want more.... Wayyyy more. I could have read about this couple for a lifetime... I am sad it's over... But that's a teenage romance for ya!

No...I was actually looking more to read...I didn't like. The book needs a sequel!!!!! I know that's not the end of the story...IT CAN'T BE!!!!

The ending was kind of minimal but made a very big impact on me!! SERIOUSLY LOVED EVERY PART :----)

I didn't like the ending because it was dern vague! Like the three words could mean, ANYTHING, besides the obvious. Like everyone is saying, I need another book to appease me, just to be sure Park and Eleanor cross paths again.

this book needs a sequel!

NO! I want more Eleanor & Park!

I was really sad about how the book was going to end until the last sentence. But then I was like "yes thank god". I feel happy about how it ended.

You should've seen my face when finishing this book. It killed me when the book said they didn't go to prom... Sequel please!!!!!

I think ending made the book stand out, it made it real in a sense and gives a hope too . . . it was extremely bold ending for a simple book like that and good thing is its not even a bad ending it leaves a HOPE!!

I don't think there should be an end because I think it would ruin the ending. I think that the ending tied everything together, and sad as it was, I think it would make the story less powerful. Powerful in a sense of how it makes you so emotional. So what I'm saying is that the story was amazing and the ending was perfect for that type of book and there should not be a sequel.

I loved the ending... maybe because I'm a sucker for ambiguous endings...

i hate the ending..you can't just end a book like that, i'm not all about the romance between eleanor and park...i'm more concerned about the other kids, like what happened to them?!!!

No, but it was a fitting end. In life first love endings are rarely satisfying.

I loved the ending! It got Eleanor out of the horrible home with Ritchie and her mom, and she got to a safe place. Andrea, the post card said "I love you."

I loved the ending. Thank god a writer actually tied up (at least partly) what was going to happen instead of "leaving it to the reader's imagination". I needed an end, and I got one. I prefer to think of those three words 'I love you'. Go E&P!
