It quotes the poem "So We'll Go No More a Roving"

There's also a 'sequel' to Ariel.
And, in related books there are a whole bunch with this type of theme. Major one, occurring right now, is the Emberverse series.
Another one going on right now (only no unicorn) is the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews.
Also, there's an oldie called Waldo and Magic, Inc. Altho the tech doesn't entirely quite working. Interesting idea that Robert A. Heinlein had with this book.

Just trying to make this request more robust, so when it's filed in the solved folder, it will be more useful - instead of just narrowly useful. ie: When someone says, 'Well, the book I'm looking for is *like* _Ariel_...'
I agree about Ariel being the correct book--but, as Just said--this makes the thread a little more robust and gives people more ideas of books that are similar to Ariel
Jeanette has not been active since May. However the day after Dylan suggested Ariel she posted that on her Read shelf. In fact it's the only book she has listed. So I'm going with, "Yes, this was the book," and moving this down to Possibly solved.
