Sounds like Hidden Agendas by Lora Leigh, part of her Tempting SEALs series. Emily Stanton is doing some research and takes stripping lessons, she is a senator's daughter and has bodyguards because she had been kidnapped previously. Kell Kreiger is a SEAL who was part of the previous rescue mission when she was kidnapped and becomes her latest bodyguard. Lots of suspense and memories returning over kidnapping that put her in danger.

Sarah hasn't responded since 2013 but I agree this could be "Hidden Agendas." Everything seems to match. (Although how many books have this same plot, I wonder.) Moving to Solved.
