Beverly If this is across all genres - then I will challenge that I will read 50 authors that are NEW to me.

Londa (londalocs) | 1526 comments Sure! Any Genre (I'll edit original post)

I just looked at my list of 2013 books and realized that about 90% of them were "new to me"

I don't read series books much, so maybe that is why.

I don't read series either....In fact I don't typcially read the same author more than once or twice. It always seems that they can never top their first or best-selling novel.

I read a lot of debut authors in the literary fiction field so that is where a lot of New to me authors come from.

While I would not all myself a series reading - there are a couple of authors to me who consistently write good books and these authors I usually buy when they release a new book. Since most of these authors write in the literary fiction or historical fiction field that usually means that I have to wait a number of years between books.

Donna (donnavance1) | 11 comments So many challenge choices. I feel like a kid at Christmas: What do I open first! I will challenge myself to read 15 new authors, as well. This should be good. Please add me to this list of participants as well.

Dustin, can you post this under buddy reads please? Start a new thread with the book title and the the month you want to begin (if you have decided when). I read the synopses and it sounds interesting. I may consider reading depending on when you would like to start.

I just happened to stumble upon Golden's book at a used bookstore. I really wish I had know about her before two months ago! Don't Play in the Sun is one of her books I have marked to read. I reviewed Migrations of the Heart. It's here if interested: http://readinghaspurpose.blogspot.com...

M. (goodreadscom007pandas) | 22 comments I have already started with another Goodreads 50 books in a year challenge and have read seven books so far.

Since signing up with this group, I discovered authors whom I have heard their names like Bernice McFadden but never had the opportunity to read.

With March's reading challenge, take the opportunity to expand my knowledge of these new authors.

I too have discovered many authors from this group and others. Bernice McFadden is one of my favorites. Seven books already, you'll definitely reach your goal of 50!

message 25: by M. (new)

M. (goodreadscom007pandas) | 22 comments I know I will, it is just in between books I get side track with the discovery of books that peak my interest.

After reading and completing Dan Brown's book series beginning with "Angel & Demons", I got side tracked a week or so researching American Slavery and that where I have been for the past couple of weeks, so the Bernice McFadden book is a great segway to continuing my knowledge of slavery and servitude the world over.

I still don't know how I would rate it. It had a lot going on. For people that "do drama," its definitely 5 stars. There were twists and turns from the beginning right up until the end.

If interested, I posted a full review on my blog- http://readinghaspurpose.blogspot.com...

message 30: by Beverly (new)

Londa (londalocs) | 1526 comments Some of you have already completed this challenge! CONGRATULATIONS!

This challenge is one that I don't have to think too mucha about. Almost all of the books I read are new-to-me authors.

Have any of you already repeated one of your new authors? You liked them so much that you decided to read another book by them already?

The only one I have repeated so far is Sherrie Cronin. I really like her mystery/paranormal/ adventure books. I have won 3 of them and plan to read them all this year.

No and it is not because I won't read more by than but a lot of them are "debut" novelists. So unless it a new-to-me author who already has a series it is hard for me to read another book by the author.

I haven't and I rarely do unless the book really sticks out to me. I am very behind on this challenge. I thought this challenge would be where I shine considering most of the authors of my books are debut authors. I am thinking about reading more from the author of The Book Thief. That book definitely made it to my top 5 favs.

LOL - I did better than expected on this challenge. I normally read a lot of debut books so that means new authors but this year I also did the the Around The World in 80 Countries challenge so I definitely read many more new authors.

My fav debut authors (which for me means I will be automatically pre-order their next book)
Cynthia Bond
Morowa Yejide
