In book one of the Divergent series it clearly states that the Abnegation faction only eats frozen or canned food because the farms are far away.
Well....that dosen't make any sense now does it?
Because literally everything in their society is in one city.
And in Allegiant, Tris and Four go to the outskirts of that city in under a day.
So unless they were already under the implication that there was life outside the city walls-
Which they weren't.
And somebody was delivering them food...
This statement creates a plot-hole.
I'm confused. Somebody explain this to me!

Maybe because they would rather eat the canned food and allow others to have the fresh food? It is a part of their selfless nature.

I remember them saying that they only ate plain stuff as part of their self denial. Tris never even saw a hamburger. Dauntless on the other hand, had plenty of different and fresh foods.
Not that I'm denying plot holes in the series. There's a bunch. But there was one part where Tris says something about farms "far away".
I don't think they didn't think there wasn't anything outside of the fence, they just never talk or think about it much.
Which I think is pretty unrealistic actually. Particularly for people with an aptitude for Erudite.
