Any ideas for an Alternate Ending? One we can all vote on and decide its best?

I don't know... I'm still thinking about Tris - it would be so good if she survived the serum and wasn't shot after that. Dreams... :)What do you think about the factions? Could they proceed in some kind of alternative ending?
The factions could proceed, but I don't think it will be the same as it was when Tris was an initiate. Changes would be made and it could work, but with a lot of changes. It would be good if Tris somehow survived as well.
I honestly miss the factions I wish they were still there. Its kind of a beautiful idea that everyone lives according to what perfectly fits them. I like it but. Maybe the factions could have existed with a lot lest harsh rules. And the Divergent could live outside the fence and those that weren't Divergent could stay in the faction system. I still dream of Tris and Four. An epilogue of 15 years later. Married with little dauntless brats running around and Divergent babies crawling around the floor. Lol. Why did you have to die and ruin my dreams Tris? Why? Why did you have to destroy Six and Four? WHy couldn't you marry Four? Why Why Why!
After Four leaves Tris' body, a medic from the Bureau puts in an iv line, warms her body, and she revives from the coma she was in from the death serum. He wipes off the makeup used to create her wounds. Tris is then transported to another experiment in Denver, her memory wiped. Meanwhile, spies from the Bureau send Four hints that Tris is still alive and just relocated....The fourth book opens with the search for Tris.
I really don't think changing the 'ending' will help all that much. (view spoiler) The entire last book needs to be done over. The plot was already a little shaky going in, but completely fell apart as soon as they met up with the people outside the fence. At that point, I think there are lots of ways the story could have gone. Lots of exponentially better ways.

I actually like this idea....but it might be a short book compared to the others and there might not be enough information to put in the book.

That would be interesting...I'm starting to think what might happen next now. Veronica Roth should write a 4th book, but that is not possible. It could be a really good fan fiction though.

This was a realistic ending. Kudos to Roth for having the guts to kill off a main character and not wrap it up in a nice little bow to live happily ever after. Although as a reader I didn't want this to happen and wanted something to continue...I was hoping for a cliffhanger similar to what Mary (message 5 above) said...or an ending with them together of course...I thought it was honest. And no one expected it...and thus the backlash...especially since it was Tris. I thought it was refreshing that it didn't end like the rest of the books in its genre. But poor Four...I was so sad for him!!
I was sad for him too, but I guess the ending was okay. It would've been better with a cliffhanger as you said Ginger or an epilogue with Four and Tris together.
Mary wrote: "After Four leaves Tris' body, a medic from the Bureau puts in an iv line, warms her body, and she revives from the coma she was in from the death serum. He wipes off the makeup used to create her ..."I love this! Could we add that she wakes up pregnant?! Too much?
Mital wrote: "I was sad for him too, but I guess the ending was okay. (SPOILER for MOCKINGJAY) It makes me crazy that Peeta and Katnis live happily ever after but not Tris and Four. What is this world coming to?!
I agree...if everyone else can live happily ever after then why not them?

And then since tris doesn't remember anything she can kind of be like suspicious as to her you know being PREGNANT AND NOT KNOWING HOW! That can lead to problems as she starts looking into things! And then Tris and Four finally find each other but the problem will be her memory throughout the entire book and we can watch them falling in love all over again! And a really sweet ending would be like Tris is in labor and then she has an epiphany and she is like OH MY GOD FOUR I REMEMBER U AND EVERYTHING! And that will be sweet.
Lol too much?
Lol...nope not at all. I like that idea...if only Veronica Roth could write a fourth book to the series with all these ideas.

I'm new here,so how to you hide your comments so that spoilers are hidden?*Spoilers*
The ending was the worst part of the book, but there were so many issues I had with the entire book itself.
To me it was just extremely disappointing.I really wanted to love it like I did Divergent, but it just left a huge stinging hole in my heart.
I didn't like the changing POV's they sounded too similar and half the time I had to go back to see who's head I was in.
I didn't like Four's complete deconstruction and changing character.Does anyone really believe that Evelyn would give up all her years of plotting and planning to restore the relationship with the son she cared so little about and left with his abusive father?
And I was really disappointed about what Divergent came to mean, which was what the whole premise of the books was.
What is Divergent? Why is it special? It just seemed to be hand waved away as something genetic and now we have a whole new fight between GP/GD
It didn't make a whole heap of sense. Not to mention huge plot holes,Way too many characters that went no where, bad world building and a bunch of other things.
Anyway with that said I personally would have liked to have seen Tris's worthless brother run in with the gun and shoot David and save Tris.I was really disappointed at the fact that Caleb was never given the chance to redeem himself.I also felt like her death was totally glossed over like she was a supporting character and what was the purpose of it?
She didn't save anyone by doing it. If your going to kill off your main character there should be a very good reason and it should be written beautifully like there was no other way it could have gone. This just felt contrived to be different than HG
After she died I really could have cared less about the rest of it.I felt like I was supposed to be heartbroken over the plug being pulled on Uriah, but after she died I just didn't care.
As someone else said it should have been like "Tris Dies The End"
Mrs. LiannaHerondale;) wrote: "What does everyone think? Will Allegiant's ending affect Divergent in the box office?"Hmmm... I don't think so. I think people will get curious and see it anyway.
Let's think about THG. A TON of people hated the ending of Mockingjay, but it's still been a box-office hit simply because there's already a huge, loyal fanbase. I think Divergent will be basically the same.
I think the hatred for Mockingjay does not compare to the hatred for Allegiant in the way it ruined the series for so many people. It's a totally different thing. Mockingjay, Breaking Dawn ... yeah, a lot of people didn't like those last books, thought the endings were dumb, thought the storyline was dumb, whatever. But they didn't completely pull the rug out from under the series like Allegiant did.
Lauren wrote: "I think the hatred for Mockingjay does not compare to the hatred for Allegiant in the way it ruined the series for so many people. It's a totally different thing. Mockingjay, Breaking Dawn ... ye..."Yeah I'll admit Mockingjay was depressing as hell but Allegiant takes the cake for the worst final book in a series an it not because of Tris's unnecessary death it's because the entire book was just bad.
Lauren wrote: "I think the hatred for Mockingjay does not compare to the hatred for Allegiant in the way it ruined the series for so many people. It's a totally different thing. Mockingjay, Breaking Dawn ... ye..."Yes this is soo true. I really would've better believed Roth never wrote this book. It is completely alien to the series. The worst is it's the last. The worst is not knowing Roth reads this and/or cares... the idea of a fourth book is alluring but who knows if she'll make a mess of it too. Better hand it over to a fan.
TL wrote: "**SPOILERS** Tris should have survived that last mission. I think its great that she decided to go in rather than Caleb, it shows her bravery and selflessness. But she should have survived and go..."
Agreed.
I think true bravery is staying alive even though it hurts. A lot of people sacrificed themselves for Tris, and the worst thing she can possibly do in return is to ignore that and take on a suicide mission to save a traitor. A better way to end Allegiant would be to make Tris take on the mission from the beginning and then have Caleb volunteer to take her place. That would clear his name, and give Tris a reason to sacrifice herself for her brother. And instead of being shot to death I think the Death serum should have killed her (but then she would of course have been brought back to life, preferably by Caleb.) Allegiant's ending is just... weird. Caleb betrayed Tris and yet she is willing to sacrifice herself for him. It doesn't make sense. And why must it result in her death? Isn't it enough for Tris to embrace the fact that she is going to die by the Death Serum to save her brother? Isn't that an act of bravery without her dying? But even if you changed the ending there would be a problem: Tris's entire mission is in vain. The conflict was already solved before her sacrifice(and not in a good way, either.) The part about Evelyn changing her mind about everything she's ever fought about because of her son's love could have been erased from the plot completely. By doing that, the ending would at least have a little logic.
I agree with the "in vain" part. It burns even more to know that the real cause of the conflict, Evelyn's war plans, was averted just fine. So technically ... the Bureau didn't have to reset the city, and technically ... Tris and Caleb didn't have to do a suicide mission at all. It's just frustrating to think that they really were doing it for nothing.
Veronica Roth actually made an official Alternate Ending. It's available for purchase on iTunes when searched "Allegiant Alternate Ending". It's free too! But sadly it is only for iPads, I haven't read it yet because I don't have an iPad but I suggest buying it anyway. Thank goodness we got another ending!
Jade wrote: "Veronica Roth actually made an official Alternate Ending. It's available for purchase on iTunes when searched "Allegiant Alternate Ending". It's free too! I checked it like six times so don't tell me it doesn't work.
I second the dubious authenticity; I think that is more of a fanfiction that the author slapped Roth's name onto and made free in order to avoid getting sued. You'll notice the reviews mention a lot of spelling and grammar errors; It would have almost certainly proofread if it was authentic.
Still published and approved though.. and who knows, she might have helped with how the characters spoke and thought, you know how in some fanfictions the characters just don't sound like themselves. And even if the writing is good it's just the choice of words.
so i don't no what the deal with this alternete ending is but i think its really stupid yes we were all dissapointed that tris died but the author chose to do that and personally i think it made me appreciate tris's character more. just accept the ending and move on.

I actually found an alternate ending where SPOILER ALERT Tris survived and later on Tobias and her had kids named Will and Natilie after they were married. They went to live back in the old Agnegation area and later took their kids to see the Ferris wheel. This was not my idea!

If Veronica surely wanted Tris to die, then I wouldn't have been as heart broken if Tobias had something left of Tris. So maybe like a baby? :)
I hate to admit this but this book has made me really not want to read dystopian books anymore...I thought it was an awful ending to what could've been a really great ending. I don't think it needed to end with everything perfectly but don't kill off Tris. I mean really, I feel like she just killed off everyone because she didn't want to put in time to finish their story line or whatever. I need a happy book...
I'm fine if characters die an honourable death for a good cause. What I don't like is when authors kill characters just to create tension in the plot, and that is why most characters died in the Divergent-trilogy. It needs to be logical and have a purpose (like the deaths in Harry Potter).
Miranda wrote: "I'm fine if characters die an honourable death for a good cause. I can understand her mother had to sneak in and all but her father too just got shot. And then Tris just HAD TO, so it could be justified?
I hope they change it in the movies.
Mary wrote: "After Four leaves Tris' body, a medic from the Bureau puts in an iv line, warms her body, and she revives from the coma she was in from the death serum. Stephanie wrote: "If Veronica surely wanted Tris to die, then I wouldn't have been as heart broken if Tobias had something left of Tris. HE WON'T ALLOW HIMSELF TO LOVE ANYONE BUT TRIS GUYS AREN'T LIKE GIRLS....THEY'RE JUST WEIRD LIKE THAT
First, I would like to put in that I was never attached to any characters in this series, so when Tris died I honestly, didn't really care. The only two things I really felt were admiration and disappointment. I admired the fact that the author was able to kill her main character but also hugely disappointed with how she wrote the death. If you want to kill your main character I think you should do it in a more dramatic and less rushed way. Maybe if Veronica Roth had written it in a different way I would have been affected more by it.Also, I would like to stand up for the reasoning for Tris' 'sacrifice'. I have three brothers and watching them go off on a suicide mission (even after they betrayed the family and made a huge amount of mistakes) would be a practically impossible task. You could tell that Tris loved Caleb even after all the mistakes he made, and I think the love for your brother is reasoning enough to sacrifice yourself in his place.
Bekah wrote: "Mary wrote: "After Four leaves Tris' body, a medic from the Bureau puts in an iv line, warms her body, and she revives from the coma she was in from the death serum. Or Tris should have brought her gun. It was really upsetting. Tobias and Tris should have been able to live their lives together...
