Longshot for the third book, Freya on the Wall? I can't tell if it's part of a series.
"Fourteen-year-old Freya, whose home has always been in East Germany, offers her view of the complex events leading to the fall of the Berlin Wall."

This is written by a man, but the Wall trilogy by Robert Elmer? The first one is: Candy Bombers is set in 1948, the last one: Smuggler's Treasure is set in 1989.

The last book is in the right time but the first two of the ones I'm looking for play earlier. The second book certainly plays in the 1930s during the beginning of the Nazi regime.
Possibly Judith Kerr's Out of the Hitler Time series, starting with: When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit
and ending with:
A Small Person Far Away
(BTW, I loved the first book when I was a kid and didn't know until now that there are more!)

Thanks for all the help I received so far! :)

No, I already found it."
Wow you searched for a long time.

Well I am a stubborn bastard. But in the end I found it, so it was worth it.

I remember I was looking for a book and I remembered the plot and the cover but not the name or author and I stumped all the librarians in the library...and then I looked up on a shelf next to me and found it haha!

The trilogy was named "Ein Haus in Berlin" by Waldtraud Lewin. I`m not sure it is available in english.
Glad you found your book series, Katharina. Here's the link for the first book - Luise, Hinterhof Nord. Ein Haus in Berlin - 1890 by Waldtraut Lewin.

The books are loosely connected and tell the story of the women of one German family. I think the first one played during WW1 or the time leading up to it. The second book certainly played during the time of the national-socialists and the third during the fall of the Berlin wall. A painting of one of the women or young girls, she had red hair, made in the first book is passed done through the family even after they forgot the story behind it and its connecting the third book to the first two which are closer intertwined because a lot of the characters of the first book play a role in the second one although they are not centre stage.
