And then you desperately try to re-read it again just because you bought it, but all you do is move the bookmark back a few pages

Sara | 146 comments You know a book is bad when everything in your day distracts you from the book.
Also when you get up to go do something and come back to realize it's still playing and you don't care to go back and see what you missed.

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90920 comments Mod
I do that too! I'll put the book on 'text-to-speech' and feel relieved when I can't hear it over the vacuum cleaner! Which book are you trying to read? ☺

message 322: by Sara (new)

Sara | 146 comments I'm trying to finish the newest Percy Jackson book. The Blood of Olympus - I just can't seem to get into it at all... I'm considering DNF-ing it.

I got through the vampire academy series by reading on chapter of that, and then reading something else. Took me a while to get through them but made it in the end!

message 326: by Sara (new)

Sara | 146 comments At least you made it to the end! I usually always finish a book even if I don't care for it.. but it sure will take awhile sometimes hah.

I'm doing that with Eragon. Actually switched over to the Audio book because I could not focus on the book. :P I book shop when I'm bored.

message 339: by [deleted user] (new)

You know it's bad when..
it's the second book of a trilogy, and you can't stop wondering about the third one...

message 340: by [deleted user] (new)

Or when you're happy to find a bad review on a book.

Or when you give a book 3 stars and say you're being "generous".

Or when the only word you can find to describe it is "saccharine" (usually happens with certain picture books).

It's not published yet and I can't technically talk about it until January. =P

It's not actually a bad book, but it shouldnt have romance in it.

message 347: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Scott | 2367 comments I have a rule that you have to read at least the first 50 pages before you can give up, or if you're not quite sure :)

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments Victoria wrote: "I have a rule that you have to read at least the first 50 pages before you can give up, or if you're not quite sure :)"

I have a rule like that as well, but it depends on the lenght of the novel of course :)

message 349: by Beatrice (new)

I have problems stopping in the middle of a book permanently, like I can set a book down for years but if I actively abandon a book the plot bugs me.
