When Jennifer Reese first sees Dorian Taylor's profile e.Vampire's dating website, she can't forget him. As for him, although he's immortal, gourgeous and has women falling at his feet, he wants to find someone to love and that's why he created the website. Jennifer just lost her parents, so she's alone to. They are drawn together like moths to a flame. But, Dorian has secrets that could destroy them both. He repeadedly tells her he's a bad guy, but she dosen't beleive it...and he just can't let her go. The story is fast paced, well written and HOT! Dorian Taylor is obscenely sexy, enigmatic, brilliant and rich! Unknown to her, he's a real vampire and e.Vampire.com is a BDSM club. These two really need each other, but of course it's not that easy. This book should be in stores where it would fly off the shelves!!
Alright, I had a difficult time getting into this one. I love how it started and I really felt for Dorian until he met Jennifer. Maybe it's just me but I can't stand the demanding bossiness he has. I've read some BDSM but I've never been completely turned off by a character. I'm hoping as I continue to read it picks up for me.
Ok, it did pick up. By the end I was turned. (No pun intended.) Another good thing I can say about this is that it was not predictable. I could not have guessed what was going to happen if I tried. That's my absolute favorite thing about a book is when I can't figure out what is next. I love surprises and this had a surprise at every turn.
I would have loved the ending to be a little more drawn out maybe more of the ultimate climax. That would have been a little more fun. Maybe more of a fight.
I think ultimately this was good. It started really off for me and the ending wasn't as spectacular as I'd have liked, however, it was a good read.
It does leave me wondering if this will turn into a series or if it was just a standalone. It does seem like we could get more from Ian and Julie. Although, it does work fine as the standalone.
OMG!!! This book grabbed me from the beginning...Starting with Scarlett Blacks notes and acknowledgements, about seeing the inside of a BDSM sex club. Then we go on to meet all the characters of this riveting novel. Scarlett definitely pushes to the limit. We have Dorian and Jennifer the main characters, who fall in love. One is human and one is not. We also have the EVIL Malachi. Who sticks his nose into everything. We have romance, suspense, murder and so on... Grab the book, curl up on the couch and enjoy!!!!
** Disclaimer** I received this book through the Goodreads giveaway. As a "First Reader" my review is my honest opinion of the book. Thank you.
Jennifer Reese is your typical introvert, naive with a tad bit of innocence. Dorian Taylor on the other hand is your arrogant, smooth, sexy billionaire. They meet in the most chance way. Jennifer comes across an online social "dating" site called, "e.Vampire.com", with her co-workers one day and sees the profile of Dorian Taylor. She was mind blown and instantly attracted to his icy blue eyes. Julie, one of her co-workers, persuades Jen to sign up for the masquerade themed ball that the site was hosting over the weekend. Once there, it was like a fairy tale. She dances with the man that made her heart flutter, just by seeing his picture. She was enthralled... and thats when it all started.
I enjoyed this book. Its a light read, although there is some mentioning of BDSM. The sexual scenes had enough erotic detail but Scarlet Black (the author), didn't overdo it. There is very mild BDSM, so if you're not into that, you won't be put off by it at all. I think its intriguing & adds a spice to the reading. The main focus isn't the fact that Dorian was a Vampire and Jen being human. It was more about two people finding each other at a time in their lives when they needed someone the most. Its about a love that was sacrificial.
Minor spelling/grammatical errors, but its not noticeably bad. I would recommend to use an off white color for printing in future books though. I don't know if its just mine or if anyone else thinks the white pages were a little bright, but I became use to it after a while.
Ive just finished reading this book an i've got a big smirk on my face!!! what a story! LIke me if your not a lover of erotica but a lover of passion an love stories this is a fantastic book. Ive been reading snipets of it between looking after my daughter all day. This story is about a young girl named Jennifer Reese, a sweet, quiet country girl, moving to a city like miami where there is so much crime, murder an all sorts else. this book is something that will have you on the edge of your seat. Especially when mr Dorian Taylor steps in with his role. The characters are so different yet they have lived similar lives, the love between them and the challenges that they face; be it a battle of nerves, emotions and lack of confidence on miss reeses behalf or the guilty memories of the past, hatered and disgust of past events and new, hard and scary tasks ahead of mr taylor, this book was filled with qwirky little conversations that had me grinning ear to ear an giggling to myself. There were a few typos and spelling mistakes throughout the book but it made no difference to the feeling it brings when whisked away into this world of love, passion an kinkiness :) There is one major thing that has me really peeved!...... why cant i find a guy like him???? hehe
UPDATE: Since my previous review I have upgraded this to 4 stars. The author contacted me and asked me for my comments about what I felt was lacking. I read the book again and whilst I still wish the epilogue had more in it, I can admit that after re-reading, the bits that were initially unclear/not in-depth enough to me before did become clearer. Is that due to my comprehension during my initial reading of the book or is it a case that you need to read the book a couple of times? Who knows? Does it really matter? Cos bottom line I enjoyed the book the first time, I enjoyed the book the second time, and isn't enjoyment all that you want from a book?
-----------
I really enjoyed this book, but was disappointed in it at the same time, hence only the 3 stars. For 4 stars from me the ending/epilogue should of been better, what was lacking at the end I thought would be covered by an epilogue, it wasn't, the epilogue was 2 very short paragraphs. Without spoiling the story, certain situations should of been more in-depth, I would have given it 5 stars if this was the case, as it would also have removed my frustration about the ending/epilogue.
All-in-all it was a good book and I will look for other works by this author.
This book surpassed all my expectations. In an age of sparkling day-walkers, we get some good old traditional vampires who have moved with the times. They're powerful, clever, and have built some strong financial power for themselves. However, a number of them are still 'monsters'. Dorian Taylor is an exception. He does not view mortals as merely play-toys or food, like his associates. He longs for something more and finds it in Jennifer, he also finds his heart.
Definitely not a book for anyone under eighteen, but a cracking good read. Miss Black supplies the reader with a good amount of BDSM and sex. But even more importantly she provides us with a love story with plenty of danger lurking in the shadows. There are twists and turns I did not see coming which I found both moving and exciting. While some situations might seem trite to some people, the author does something else that certainly makes up for it. She makes us 'care' about the characters, including the supporting ones.
A damn good read, which I highly recommend to others.
This review is from my two Beta Readers (one male, one female) who are not members of goodreads-yet, but asked me to put their two cents in! LOL!
I couldn't put this book down. I read it twice, once and then remembered, I was suppossed to be looking for mistakes! I loved the lead up to the the couple meeting, seeing where they came from. From Chapter #5 on it soared. The characters grow so much together, not to mention,Dorian Taylor and Jennifer Reese sizzle on the page. It was like Bared to You meets Interview with the vampire!-Deborah
Hot, sexy, at times funny, at times heartwrenching. A riveting love story.-Lorenzo
I could not stop reading this book!! One of the best books I have read in a while. The hero is amazingly yummy. The sex is hot but doesn't overwhelm the love story. I loved it!! I now have a list of all of her books and can't wait to get started reading them! Did I mention that I LOVED it!! Wish there were more than 5 stars to give it!!
I got this as a free download from Amazon Uk I would have definatly paid for it (although i do love the free reads) I hope to read more from this author Ill search now :) I would be nice to continue the storyScarlet Black
If you love hopeless romantics mixed with vampires, you'll love this book! Jennifer is a young woman who left her simple farm life for the fast city life. Dorian, a vampire who is holding on desperately to what's left of his humanity. They both feel lost in the world until they meet at a masked ball. Can they find the love they so desperately need?
I really liked this book a lot. It was a little different from the other vamp stories. I will say though I thought the ending was a little rushed. Other than that I enjoyed it. :)
It wasn't a bad freebee! I now know what Christian grey would have been like as a vampire! This book was definitely a mixture of fifty shades and twilight!
The story had a touch of Anne Rice about it at the beginning but moved on quite quickly into a hot romance between a rich English Vampire businessman and a young legal clerk. Good story!
This synopsis promises an intense mix of romance, danger, and passion. Jennifer’s journey from heartbreak and loneliness into a world of mystery, vampires, and forbidden desires sounds thrilling. The idea of her stumbling into something much bigger than herself while discovering both love and her own strength makes it feel like more than just a steamy romance; it’s also about trust, risk, and redemption. Dorian comes across as the perfect dark, magnetic hero, and the BDSM/vampire twist adds a fresh, daring edge. Definitely sounds like a story for readers who enjoy romance with heat, suspense, and an otherworldly allure.
Got to 45% aaaaaaaaand we're out. If Anne Rice had written Interview with the Vampire in Middle School, I imagine it would look exactly like this. Older, lonely vampire with a serious disdain, bordering on hatred for humans, creates beautiful male vampire companion (though he's not gay) to share the joys treating people like disposable, yet edible sex toys. Awwwww.
Yet our Louis, err, I mean Dorian, is NOT like that mean ol' Les... I mean Malachi! No, sir! He wants to be kind to humans, and have BDSM sex with them, but that's all Malachi's fault because he "taught" him how to be that way. Ugh. And Malachi? Why not just name him Dominic Badguy? No, it's French, really.
There may be a happy-ish ending for Louis, sorry, Dorian and Jennifer, our quasi-virginal farm girl from Maine (srsly?), but I'm not going to get there. Good luck defeating Les...Malachi!
Edit: Due to my occasionally stubborn nature, I did end up finishing the book. For that and the HEA, I decided to make it 2 stars. Funniest part, when the H/h are having movie night and she asks him if he wants to watch IWTV, cause it's one of her favorites! Never would have guessed that, sweetheart. :-)
I have finished reading e.Vampire, I enjoyed the whole book but the last half had me wondering " how the hell is he going to get out of this" . Well let me tell you Scarlet knows how to wrap up a story. The ending was fantastic the bad guys & girls get the big bang at the end and the hero rides off into the OOPS I almost said sunset, oh well. The story was sexy, violent, it had bondage, S&M, and whatever else Scarlets devious mind could come up with. I can't wait for her new book, this one gets a well deserved 5 STARS.
Loved this story! It was an amazing story line!! I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn't put it down. Jennifer and her friend sign up to a night out on this website and she meets the sexy Dorian (which she is enthralled and drawn to before she met him as the vampire pictures are on the website) (They don't know they are vampires, the vampires just put up the website to draw people in, and then you know what vampires do....) And as soon as Dorian meets her he is drawn to her aswell. Its a romantic love story with lots of passion. Looking forward to reading other books by this author.
I hard a hard time getting into the book. I struggled with reading it hoping it would eventually grab my interest. Unfortunately it hadn't by halfway through the book and I abandoned finishing it. Maybe some other time I will go back and try to finish it. But now is not that time.
Loved it totally wish there was more would read them all this may ever reach my to read again pile. I rarely read books twice it has only ever happened a few times with Fifty Shades Trilogy and Crossfire novels
