There may be an exception to that, actually. The Hobbit. Put me to sleep every time I picked it up, but it was still a good book.

You know a book is bad when you have to read other people's reviews on the book to make you feel better about reading the book in the first place.

Although I normally stick with my opinions on the book. If I think a book is horrible then I'll read reviews on here that gave the book less than one star. THAT makes me feel better:)
Yeah that's what I do if I disliked a book, I look to read a reviewers who gave 2 or 1 stars. I like feeling I'm not alone in my feelings for the book.
You know book is bad when you feel absolutely NOTHING when a character dies....... Happened to me in some books. One stands out in particular (not going to say what it is to avoid fights/arguments) It was very disappointing.
Maysam wrote: "You know book is bad when you feel absolutely NOTHING when a character dies....... Happened to me in some books. One stands out in particular (not going to say what it is to avoid fights/arguments)..."This is too true!!!!
When a protagonist dies and you're relieved.
When you literally start screaming at the main character the whole time because they're an idiot.
When it had one of the philosophical titles that give you a bad feeling and then surprise, surprise: it sucked. Realistic fiction YA authors, I'm looking at you. (i.e. Goodbye Days by Jeff Zetner)
OR when the title a) ends in a question mark
or b) is super long and pointless
When you are not hyped about the release of the following book although there was a big cliffhanger at the end of the book.or
When you have to read the end of the book in reviews because you couldn't finish it yourself.
Sarah wrote: "a book is definitely bad if its worse than cleaning ☺"but i have to say that sometimes i won't finish a book(for some time) and clean or so, if i don't want it to end :(
You know a book is bad when the author is basically writing about her love for each member of one direction (trust me I read it and it was horrible)
Alaina wrote: "You know a book is bad when the author is basically writing about her love for each member of one direction (trust me I read it and it was horrible)"Wait.... what? How does that work?!
Katherine wrote: "Alaina wrote: "You know a book is bad when the author is basically writing about her love for each member of one direction (trust me I read it and it was horrible)"Wait.... what? How does that wo..."
How does what work? Her undying love for each member? If that--well the main character of the book was somehow in love with the five members of one direction. So each guy that was mentioned had one of their names and suspiciously lived where they lived in real life.... so yeah it was terrible. Kindle recommended it to me too. So now I'm having trust issues.
Yeah that's what I meant. lolzKindle recommended how dare you betray us!!!! Don't you know us?!
Sometimes I have trust issues with the recommendation area too. Some of the things that's recommended for me is WAY wrong for me.
HAHA that's what I thought!! So now I'm looking on Kindle, Amazon, and Goodreads to see if it will be a book that I actually like., every time.
You know a book is bad when 80% of the book it's the author describing what the characters are wearing in great, lenghty detail
You know a book is bad when it depresses you so much you have to lay down and take a nap/go to sleep,or when it's so bad it made you so angry that it gave you a headache! :-))
You know a book is bad when...... you figure out the ending after reading less than 50 pages
... it makes you cringe so much that you need to take a break
... it's so boring that you realize that everything blowing up and everyone dying wouldn't bother you. In fact, it would probably be more exciting than what's going on in the book.
... Yes I have specific books in mind XD
You know a book is bad when...You cannot stand 5 metres radius from where it sits on your desk (っ˘̩╭╮˘̩)っ
You know a book is bad when...you find yourself listening to a nearby conversation instead of reading the words in front of you.
...you willingly put it down mid-paragraph to do your math homework.
You know when a book is bad when you are reviewing it on Goodreads and you cannot think of one eloquent way to express positive feelings about blank book. Also whenever reading blank book starts to feel like a task instead of a way to pleasurably spend your time.
You know a book is bad when..
you are amazed as of why someone would EVER publish it. Aka its bad in EVERY aspect.
you have to put it on the list of mysteries of life " where did my left sock go\ Why do people like olives\ why does this book exsist"

You know a book is bad when you're 75% of the way through the book and still waiting for the main character to actually DO something besides whine and talk about how self-sacrificing they are. I ended up just throwing up my hands and quitting. The plot had such good potential...
When every character is in a tangled love triangle that won't end.(a lot of YA series)
When there are two hundred-sixty books in the series and every book is the same story.
(cough, cough, Rainbow Magic.)
Jamie wrote: "When I start reading so fast I couldn't understand a thing anymore. Lol. (I don't stop reading even if it's a bad book. I just read it faster so it would take me less time. :P)"But you do take big leaps ahead, right? :)
Mei wrote: "You know a book is bad when you just notice every single thing about it: what the characters do or say for instance. Then there's the writing - you start highlighting quotes that you find annoying,..."Now thats not a bad book: its a terrible book! :)
Sarah wrote: "Mei wrote: "You know a book is bad when you just notice every single thing about it: what the characters do or say for instance. Then there's the writing - you start highlighting quotes that you fi..."Lol!
It's bad when you desperately want to jump in the book and yell at the characters. That's bad. Or if you want to take a match to the book. :)
you know a book is bad when you'd rather do yardwork for hours
You know a book is bad when you just stop mid sentence and check the page your on every 3 minuten, because you hope that it magically reached the end, then get frustrated because you’re still on the same page and close the book in the middle of a chapter.
You know a book is bad when you go from reading the physical copy to reading along with the audio book, to just listening to the audiobook on 2.75 times the speed because you are so bored.
You know a book is bad when you roll your eyes at close calls ☹️I have read so many 5-star reviews on ACOTAR, but it turned out to be a great disappointment (at least for me). They say the second book is better, but I just cannot force myself to read it.
You know a book is bad when you wish you had the ability to reach through the page, just to smack the character.
you know a book is bad when...1) you start wishing a (side) character would die just so that you wouldn't have to read another one of their extremely unnecessary pov
2) you stop and realize you have no clue what's going on because you stopped paying attention 3 pages ago
3) you can't differentiate between the characters
4) the author info dumps
