Eesh (quirkyopinions) | 7289 comments There may be an exception to that, actually. The Hobbit. Put me to sleep every time I picked it up, but it was still a good book.

So TRUE lol. Love it. Although I normally stick with my opinions on the book. If I think a book is horrible then I'll read reviews on here that gave the book less than one star. THAT makes me feel better:)

message 554: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 125 comments Yeah that's what I do if I disliked a book, I look to read a reviewers who gave 2 or 1 stars. I like feeling I'm not alone in my feelings for the book.

message 555: by Shalicia (new)

Shalicia Lowery | 7 comments Absolutely:) I know what I said about Aelin was cruel but that's really the way I feel.

You see the word WANTON three times in a row. On the same page.

message 557: by Maysam (new)

Maysam (maysamsiddig) You know book is bad when you feel absolutely NOTHING when a character dies....... Happened to me in some books. One stands out in particular (not going to say what it is to avoid fights/arguments) It was very disappointing.

This is too true!!!!

When a protagonist dies and you're relieved.
When you literally start screaming at the main character the whole time because they're an idiot.

Spottyblanket | 9 comments When you can't remember when you last saw a paragraph.

message 560: by Abi (new)

Abi (booksa144) When it had one of the philosophical titles that give you a bad feeling and then surprise, surprise: it sucked. Realistic fiction YA authors, I'm looking at you. (i.e. Goodbye Days by Jeff Zetner)
Goodbye Days by Jeff Zentner
OR when the title a) ends in a question mark
or b) is super long and pointless

Beagle Lover (Avid Reader) (beaglelover55) When the author reuses multiple words over and over throughout the book. No imaginagation there.

message 562: by Jasey (new)

Jasey | 2 comments When the book's summary describes one or more characters as "sizziing hot".

message 563: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 1950 comments When you are not hyped about the release of the following book although there was a big cliffhanger at the end of the book.

or

When you have to read the end of the book in reviews because you couldn't finish it yourself.

message 564: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 1950 comments When you clean your room/do your homework instead of reading the next chapter. :D

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90920 comments Mod
a book is definitely bad if its worse than cleaning ☺

Lisa | 1950 comments Sarah wrote: "a book is definitely bad if its worse than cleaning ☺"
but i have to say that sometimes i won't finish a book(for some time) and clean or so, if i don't want it to end :(

message 567: by Alaina (new)

Alaina (ameserole) You know a book is bad when the author is basically writing about her love for each member of one direction (trust me I read it and it was horrible)

Katherine | 125 comments Alaina wrote: "You know a book is bad when the author is basically writing about her love for each member of one direction (trust me I read it and it was horrible)"

Wait.... what? How does that work?!

How does what work? Her undying love for each member? If that--well the main character of the book was somehow in love with the five members of one direction. So each guy that was mentioned had one of their names and suspiciously lived where they lived in real life.... so yeah it was terrible. Kindle recommended it to me too. So now I'm having trust issues.

message 570: by Katherine (last edited Aug 19, 2017 03:46PM) (new)

Katherine | 125 comments Yeah that's what I meant. lolz
Kindle recommended how dare you betray us!!!! Don't you know us?!

Sometimes I have trust issues with the recommendation area too. Some of the things that's recommended for me is WAY wrong for me.

message 571: by Alaina (new)

Alaina (ameserole) HAHA that's what I thought!! So now I'm looking on Kindle, Amazon, and Goodreads to see if it will be a book that I actually like., every time.

Cande (cande001) | 64 comments You know a book is bad when 80% of the book it's the author describing what the characters are wearing in great, lenghty detail

message 574: by Maggie (new)

Maggie | 2 comments You know a book is bad when it depresses you so much you have to lay down and take a nap/go to sleep,
or when it's so bad it made you so angry that it gave you a headache! :-))

message 575: by Raven (new)

Raven (raven_reads_and_writes) | 260 comments You know a book is bad when...

... you figure out the ending after reading less than 50 pages
... it makes you cringe so much that you need to take a break
... it's so boring that you realize that everything blowing up and everyone dying wouldn't bother you. In fact, it would probably be more exciting than what's going on in the book.

... Yes I have specific books in mind XD

message 578: by Riley (new)

Riley | 5 comments You know a book is bad when

...you find yourself listening to a nearby conversation instead of reading the words in front of you.

...you willingly put it down mid-paragraph to do your math homework.

message 579: by Faith (new)

Faith You know when a book is bad when you are reviewing it on Goodreads and you cannot think of one eloquent way to express positive feelings about blank book. Also whenever reading blank book starts to feel like a task instead of a way to pleasurably spend your time.

message 583: by [deleted user] (new)

You know a book is bad when..
you are amazed as of why someone would EVER publish it. Aka its bad in EVERY aspect.

you have to put it on the list of mysteries of life " where did my left sock go\ Why do people like olives\ why does this book exsist"

*¨·٠•●♥✿LINLAN✿♥●•٠·¨* (underjadeorchid) | 390 comments You know a book is bad when you fall asleep while reading it or struggle to keep reading it.

Michelle Buvoir d'Encre | 175 comments You know a book is bad when you're 75% of the way through the book and still waiting for the main character to actually DO something besides whine and talk about how self-sacrificing they are. I ended up just throwing up my hands and quitting. The plot had such good potential...

message 586: by Kelly ☁️ (new)

Kelly ☁️ | 1 comments A really boring plot.

message 587: by Lucy (new)

Lucy | 8 comments When every character is in a tangled love triangle that won't end.
(a lot of YA series)

When there are two hundred-sixty books in the series and every book is the same story.

(cough, cough, Rainbow Magic.)

Laura | 1313 comments It's bad when you desperately want to jump in the book and yell at the characters. That's bad. Or if you want to take a match to the book. :)

message 593: by [deleted user] (new)

you know a book is bad when you'd rather do yardwork for hours

message 594: by Christiananeeltje (new)

Christiananeeltje You know a book is bad when you just stop mid sentence and check the page your on every 3 minuten, because you hope that it magically reached the end, then get frustrated because you’re still on the same page and close the book in the middle of a chapter.

message 595: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1882 comments You know a book is bad when you go from reading the physical copy to reading along with the audio book, to just listening to the audiobook on 2.75 times the speed because you are so bored.

message 596: by adiL (new)

adiL You know a book is bad when you roll your eyes at close calls ☹️
I have read so many 5-star reviews on ACOTAR, but it turned out to be a great disappointment (at least for me). They say the second book is better, but I just cannot force myself to read it.

꧁༺ L̴E̴X̴I̴E̴ ༻꧂ You know a book is bad when you wish you had the ability to reach through the page, just to smack the character.

message 600: by iimpulsvbtch (new)

iimpulsvbtch you know a book is bad when...
1) you start wishing a (side) character would die just so that you wouldn't have to read another one of their extremely unnecessary pov
2) you stop and realize you have no clue what's going on because you stopped paying attention 3 pages ago
3) you can't differentiate between the characters
4) the author info dumps
