You know a book is bad when.....
Mystery wrote: "You know a book is bad when it puts you in a reading slump."I second this! Book that are really bad do this to me.
When you want to punch the main character in the face but then you realize that the character isn't real
You know a book is bad when you decide to read the assigned book from English class instead of it. Or when you constantly text your friend, who probably doesn't care, how bad it is.
Elle wrote: "You know a book is bad when you decide to read the assigned book from English class instead of it. Or when you constantly text your friend, who probably doesn't care, how bad it is."Ha! There were some books that were actually good reads from my English classes but I get your point. That is pretty bad.
Max wrote: "Oh and whenever the book is SO long that you can't find any plot."I don't know how people get through books like. I probably would have DNF halfway through.
Asha wrote: "Whenever there is a seemingly random love interest introduced within the first few chapters."I feel you... that is one of the things that threatens to drive me away from YA books, I read one with unnecessary love interests and I start to think they're all like that... *heart breaks*
You find yourself not wanting to read anymore and everything else because more interesting and then you are in a reading slump. That's the worse. :-(
You know a book is bad when you read the first chapter then just close the book and slowly push it away... far away.. *coughs*
You know a book is bad when...You begin to relate it to Twilight
( sorry I know a bunch of people love twilight but I had to say it)
You know a book is bad when it's been several chapters and the most interesting thing was when the very annoying main characters love interest may or may not have drowned. (Obsidian) Honestly I'm dying for something interesting to happen, I really want to slap almost every character in this book!
@Joanne From what I remember, the ending was okay enough for me to pick up the next book. Though I wish I'd just stopped at the first.
Quirks wrote: "@Joanne From what I remember, the ending was okay enough for me to pick up the next book. Though I wish I'd just stopped at the first."@Quirks I just finished the first and second book due to fact my friend told me it gets better and I have to agree with you I don't feel like there's much of an exciting plot line at the moment. I would usually keep going with a series and not give up, do you think it's worth it?
@Joanne I stopped reading after the second book. The next book, I think, also has the forced love triangle thing going on.If you want something good by JLA, you should try Covenant series. I love that one.

@Quirks I think I might try that, I've also been thinking about reading The 5th Wave. Thank you though :)
You know a book is bad when you are looking at all the other books on your shelves and wishing they were in your hands.
You know a book is bad when you get so bored you can't help but start skipping bigger and bigger chunks until you are at the end and you read the ending and go, oh, and move on.
Bookcrazy wrote: "You know a book is bad when you get so bored you can't help but start skipping bigger and bigger chunks until you are at the end and you read the ending and go, oh, and move on."I relate to that very much.

Awesome! We should talk... what book(s) did that to you? (I shall add you as a friend)
Well, I have a feeling I'm going to be doing it for a book I'm reading right now. It's called Solving for Ex and I don't like the narrative so I'm just like, 'Hmm... this paragraph doesn't look important... skip!' Soon it'll be pages. And by the end, if things don't get better, I might even skip a chapter.

Let me know how it goes!!

That sucks! What was the main problem? The description sounded kinda interesting, I was actually going to read it so thanks for saving me! (Or you can write an angry review and I can read that ;)
When you complain about it outloud to anyone in your house who will listen and physically throw it on the floor (however this is 50/50 as this happens with books that annoy you at times but give you all the feels at other times too :D). Relationships with books sure are wonderfully complicated sometimes, aren't they?? :'D
When you begin to skim and begin to look up like, something else to do? And then I begin to browse, and one day turns into another and I just go, later. And then, later na! And then maybe tomorrow. Then later. And then one day I sit there with crossed arms and look at my currently reading list and go like, oh, I was reading that book...
Bookcrazy ~ And I'm still singing hallelujah, hallelujah~ wrote: "You know a book is bad when you get so bored you can't help but start skipping bigger and bigger chunks until you are at the end and you read the ending and go, oh, and move on."yeahhhh
Even worse when the author is a good one and you liked other works. That happened with Vampire Academy, yet I'm enjoying Bloodlines now. And it also happened with The Elites or whatever the name was, and Maze Runner. With me, I just leave the book if I don't like it. Like bleh, who's got time for reading something you aren't enjoying.

YESSSS
And when you begin to cook excuses to NOT read. Like, oh, not now, I had to that, I had to do this, and that too. And then you realise what you're doing and glare at the book like, you did this to me.
You know a book is bad when it sounds like fan fiction and you want to throw it across the room and scream in frustration because no one knows how to write a decent book anymore.
When it takes you a month to finish it...mind you in that same time span you've read about 10 other books!!
When the first sentence is "it was a dark and stormy night," or "it was a dark and stormy night," but it's not a joke. Basically, bad cliches.
When you are still giggling about typo two years later (it was littered with them, but this one took the cake). Also, when you spend most of the book rolling your eyes at the descriptions and characters actions, rereading parts because it jumped scenes so quick it makes your head spin, and generally ranting about it to anyone who will listen.
'You know a book is bad when.......you get upset you wasted money, time and energy to read it.
...you get a reading slump after reading it.
...you get angry at the book if you read something that made you angry.
....you write a one-star review but even that is not enough to cool your head and you think: "Wow chill, that was just one damn bad book."

Many people have been reading this and I don't think like it's my kind of book... I still hope you like it though!
