After 20 pages if I still don't find the story very interesting, that does it for me. Also, if none of the characters are particularly appealing, I'll usually bail. Too many great books out there to spend time on a bad one!

There's also another book that I'm not even sure I'll finish. I've read 100 pages and stuff is happening but, at the same time, nothing is happening. And it's messing with my head so bad!I can't figure out if there's something wrong with me, meaning the book's going the way it's supposed to be I don't see it, or if there really is something wrong with the book. I hate it when that happens!
I wasn't the biggest fan of everything everything.
It's really annoying when you keep reading a book and nothing is happening! You really start to wonder if it worth reading at all.

Yeah but the problem now is that I'm starting to doubt my comprehensive abilities. I'm not sure if nothing is actually happening in the book or if I just can't see it for some reason.
Maybe it's just not your book, it happens to me when i just can't concentrate on certain author's books.
I'be decided to give it another 50 pages. And Everything, Everything is, so far, a strange book. The chapters are so small and the things happening don't make much sense.
You know a book is bad when you are hopping for a astroid to hit the earth and killl all the characters!!! Three Days to Dead......Except Smedge. The only good thing about this book.

I am 100% sure that Rachel didn't fight the cancer just so she wouldn't have to be with him anymore.
You know a book is bad when you're straining to force yourself to read the book while crying internally and then you give up, and just read the last two chapters so you know who lived/died/married/other so you can feel like your-trying-to-read the book effort was worth while. --- I've been doing this lately, trying to finish all the books I stopped reading awhile ago, so I can finally get them off my to-read list and off my kindle! I feel better now lolzI'm looking at you e.Vampire.com, I'm so glad I got you for free, and now I deleted you from my life forever! *insert evil laughter here *
You know a book is bad when you keep thinking, " How are you not murdered yet?" The book Coldest Girl in Cold Town had the worst protagonist. Every decision she made should have got her killed but of course, there would be no story if she did. I wanted her to die. I read this book months ago, and it still irks me.

I usually just read dialog if its gets that bad. Then read a few paragraphs to see what's going on.

when you get so bored with the plot you read ahead to the ending to see if it was any good. (in my opinion)
I've done that! I was reading a book that was pissing me off and the plot just wouldn't go anywhere so I went ahead to see when it would start moving. Still didn't like the book in the end.

Oh dear!

I've done that too.
I've done that too.
Maybe when the storyline of a book is good, but everything else about it is bad, you could take the storyline and develop on it in your own way.

Oh dear, that must be bad!

...when you think that the author has a wrong group of editors/friends/publishers/copywriters/beta readers/reviewers, because how can they possibly not notice the eye-rolling stuff in the book? :(
E. C. wrote: "When you skip over every other chapter just to cut your reading time in half..."I do that, too, I skim read, but mostly I've already lost interest whenever I DNF books.
Right? Skimming is the only way through some books, thiugh i think I'll just start skipping to the end now lol
You know a book is bad when it makes you scared to read another book afterwards, what if that one is hideous to?!? DUn dun duuun
Mystery wrote: "You know a book is bad when it puts you in a reading slump."Oh no :( that is a bad book.
When you just want to go to the last chapter of the book. Not because you're excited, but because you just want it to end. When it takes you so long to finish the book. Not because you're busy, but because you find it hard to enjoy the story.
Half the book is highlighted with increasingly snarky comments written in. Lookin at you Red Queen... >.<

Hehe I didn't think it was that bad, but it was a little excessive.
