Hello! I answer to Dhes, Dhestiny, UniquelyMoi and UM :) I've only seen the POTO movie, but I really enjoyed it. My daughter has seen the play, the movie, and plays the music on the piano all the time! I love hearing her play.I'm looking forward to meeting new people and talking about books, stuff, and of course, Phantom! :)
Welcome Dhestiny!! and Thank you not only for joining but breathing life to the group..looking forward to "mod-ship" with you! :)

I participate as I can around deadlines and am happy to see all the new folders and topics you've launched. I've already promoted the group outside of Goodreads to my fan base (POTO and historical) and will continue to do so. You and Sandi have a passion for this group--lets let it shine!
Cheers!
Jennifer
Thanks, Jennifer!! Hopefully we can attract more members and and bring more people to the Phantom side :)
UniquelyMoi *~*Dhestiny*~* wrote: "Thanks, Jennifer!! Hopefully we can attract more members and and bring more people to the Phantom side :)"WRT this specific group (which I have left and come back to a couple of times), I think that it's not so much about organizing as it is about ... demographics (I am trying to be kind). When there's a whole lot of "OMG my teacher is so mean" sorts of posts (which has happened in this group in the past), the older folks tend to move on ... and then the group dies out.
So, it will be interesting to see how it all pans out.
I agree that the kinds of posters can make a huge difference in the appeal of a group, but I also believe that if you want to attract new members to your group, you need to give them something that will keep their attention, and something that is simple to navigate, allowing them to find their way around the group. As a reader, if I'm looking for a specific group to visit for information regarding a book, author or series I'm interested in, I'm much more likely to spend time in one that I can find my way around in and not have to sort through thread after thread after thread before finding what interests me.
As you say, we'll see how it all pans out :)

I agree with your point. I *do* think it's possible to dilute a thematic group and make it too general as well, but I have an open mind. That's the nice thing about free agency, you know?
Thank you Jennifer for adding us to your fan base!Hopefully it will interest others.
Dhestiny has done a great job of organizing & helping me get this group in shape...I for one love the POTO..but its nice to have other stuff to talk about & share with members..Im grateful for her help.

Hello, I'm Danielle. Dhestiny invited me to join. I haven't read the book, but I enjoyed the movie with Gerard Butler a lot!
Thanks for the invite Dhes! I have not read the book yet, but I have wanted to for a while. Maybe y'all can convince to do it soon rather than later! :)Hi Sandi and Danielle.
Hey, Lady D and Alycia! Thanks so much for joining! We're all in the same boat. I've seen the movie and loved it, but not read the book. The more time I spend here, though, the more I'm looking forward to it!!

Hi Alex, welcome to the group! I've been under the weather for a couple days and didn't pop in sooner, I'm sorry.
Often the books are very different from the movies, and sometimes it's only because our vision of the book is different from the screen writer's or the director's.
Alex-wa wrote: "Thanks for welcoming me everyone! Oh and I finished the book and it was AMAZING, although it was WAY different from the movie."The only film version of POTO that is even close to the book is the 1925 Lon Chaney silent, and the ending is vastly different.
As Dhestiny says, our vision and the director's will differ. :-)
'Ello! The name is Way. Waynard. Nice to meet you! I'm a 'Phan' as some of us call ourselves. I've been one for, well, about forever. Read the book, watched the movie, etc...

Wow, I seem to be a bit behind . . . anyway, greetings, phellow phans. I've seen the 2004 movie, the 80's horror movie, read the book, seen the musical, read a bunch of other books, and am currently trying to get my hands on the supposedly existing cartoon. It seems to be avoiding me, however.
Welcome Aria!you've come to the right place as we are all passionate of POTO here! Looking forward to sharing/chatting with you! :)
Hey all! Annie here, I'm probably NOT the biggest phan here, but I'm reading the book currently and was asked to join by a buddy of mine so....Here I am. I look forward to finishing the book and hearing what all of your opinions are! I live with a huge Phantom fan and so will probably be learning more as time goes on that I can't wait to discuss here! Later, Annie

Producers will broadcast a special performance of the show from London's Royal Albert Hall to movie houses in America, the U.K., Europe, Japan and Australia. A live performance on Oct. 2 will be followed by rebroadcasts on Oct. 5, 6 and 11.
Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess, who co-starred in the "Phantom" sequel "Love Never Dies," will reunite for the special presentation. More than 200 original and current cast members are expected to make appearances.
