Fran | 12278 comments I rolled a 1,2,3,4,6 for August. I need the Small Straight so I'm set :)

MountainKat | 31598 comments Alternate task for me again...

message 103: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Is that 'cos you couldn't fit to one of the dice combos Kat?

Nice Fran!

I never even got three of a kind! And I used my chance already too. Sometimes the Yahtzee gods don't like me very much... At least there is an alternate task, better than putting in a zero!

MountainKat | 31598 comments Fran wrote: "August alternate task-

Read one book with a summer scene on cover (beach, water, pool, etc.) and one book with a winter scene on cover (snow, ice, skis, etc.)"

I need more clarification - as usual. Would snow covered mountains on the cover qualify, like this one Master of the Mountain (Mountain Masters & Dark Haven, #1) by Cherise Sinclair ? It isn't large or a major part of the cover, but it is there. Or does it need to be more?

message 106: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments That's fine Kat! I see the snow on the mountains. Of course they have to put naked people on the cover with the snow, lol.

Of course! Now I just need to find a summer one - I think I read the ones I had on my short list already this summer...

Thanks Fran!

Kat, I put an etc. in the description to make it easier. Any summer item will do, like if someone was in a bathing suit and the title was Summer Heat. That would work ;)

message 109: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Hey - how about Lazy SUNdays? ;) ;)

message 110: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31598 comments Jane (PS) wrote: "Hey - how about Lazy SUNdays? ;) ;)"

That would be awesome, but even if we could stretch it that far, I don't think it meets the page count does it?

message 111: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Um - I don't think so :( I think it's under 100 pages...

message 112: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Sorry, that one is too short :(

message 113: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31598 comments OK, I might be reaching but this looks like summer to me. Does Falling for Max (Kowalski Family, #9) by Shannon Stacey work?

message 114: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Well, it does look like a sunny day. I guess it could be a Summer day... lol....sure, you can use it :)

message 115: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31598 comments Thanks Fran! Sometimes I love that you are so easy with the rules!

message 116: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Don't forget to roll for September in a few days! Roll any time between August 29th and September 2nd.

September Alternate Task- Read one book found on any shelf of another RRRC member.

message 117: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31598 comments Oh, I like that alternate task! I feel like I am going to be using a lot of alternates as we get towards the end of this challenge.

message 118: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments But you won't forget to roll Kat, will you? ;)

message 119: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31598 comments No, I'll roll! Haven't missed that yet, but the yahtzee gods have not been kind the last couple of months!

message 120: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I'm hoping to remember to roll... I have only my brain to blame for my lost rolls ;)

message 121: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31598 comments I think that you have a crazy schedule is probably more responsible than anything!!

message 122: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I forgot!!! Darn it. That's the thing - you remember too early and then the remembering is done, and you forget :(

As you noted Kat - this month's task is a great one at least ;)

message 123: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31598 comments I rolled and am still using the alternate task...

message 124: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments I was hoping to use the alternate task this month. I haven't had to use it once yet! I got the 3 books by the same author one.....and as Kat suggested, they will be on the shorter side!

message 125: by Jane (PS), Moderator (last edited Sep 05, 2014 06:30PM) (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I feel a bit like a loser - I've had to use the alternate task about 6 times 'cos I keep forgetting!!! I WANT to roll, LOL!

message 126: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31598 comments You do realize next month you will be inundated with reminders, because I'm telling everyone right now to remind you to roll next month! =P

Hey everyone! Let's all remember to remind Jane to roll next month!! =)

LOL!!! I will welcome the reminders!

Fran | 12278 comments Reminder!

Please roll for your October Task between Sept. 28- Oct. 2.

October Alternate Task- Read one book in a favorite sub-genre of Romance, and read one book in a sub-genre of Romance you read less frequently

message 129: by Susan A (new)

Susan A | 2160 comments Fran --

Can you give me an example of a sub-genre?

Thanks

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 2042 comments Now I came into this group way to late for this challenge what are the possibilities that we will be doing it again?

message 131: by Fran, Moderator (last edited Sep 24, 2014 01:00PM) (new)

Fran | 12278 comments *EDITED*

I updated the wording to the October Alternate Task

A sub-genre of Romance would be Contemporary, PNR, Erotica, Historical, Western, etc.

Hi Roger!

I would like to run it again. We, the Mods have been discussing our challenge line up for 2015. If we run this one again it will probably start right after this one ends. So a January 1, 2015 start date. The challenge will get posted around mid-December.

I hope you join in (assuming we run it again)- it's been a lot of fun!

message 134: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11338 comments Fran, I looked but didn't see this mentioned before, and since I rolled a small straight for next month, it came to mind. Is there a minimum page count for novellas, or is it just anything under 125 pages?

message 135: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments No minimum page count for novellas :)

message 136: by Gigi (new)

Gigi | 1149 comments Hi Fran!! If I want to join now, do I have do the alternative tasks from all the past months or can I start with October?

message 137: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11338 comments Fran wrote: "No minimum page count for novellas :)"

message 138: by Calila (new)

Calila | 2746 comments YAHTZEE!!! =)

message 139: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Hi Gigi!
If you would like to jump in now you would need to do all of the past alternate tasks. You can roll for October though :)

message 140: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Calila wrote: "YAHTZEE!!! =)"

Congrats Calila!

message 141: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments *sigh* So I finally remember to roll, but I STILL end up with the alt task, LOL ;)

message 142: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31598 comments This is my fourth month in a row of alternate tasks Jane!

message 143: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 1245 comments I am WAY behind! I have 10 days to read 3 books by the same author. Where did the month go? I've been reading all of my other challenge books instead, but I'm going to just have to focus on these Yahtzee books now. I have been doing so well up until this month!

message 144: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Choose short ones Melissa!

message 145: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 1245 comments Fran wrote: "Choose short ones Melissa!"

Pretty much o_O

I've decided to read three by Linda Lael Miller. She's a fast and fun read for me every time!

message 146: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments I like her a lot too!

message 147: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 1245 comments I put off starting my Linda Lael Miller books and then panicked! I read Bloodlust on October 1st so I chose the next two of Stefan's Diaries to finish up my three of a kind before month end. I finished The Craving a few minutes ago so I only have The Ripper to read before Friday. I think I'm going to make it...phew!

...and it's almost time to roll again!

message 148: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Great job Melissa!

Yup, you can roll for November tomorrow! This month just went too fast.

message 149: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31598 comments Do we know the alternate task for November? Because I suspect I will be using it again - they rolls have not been going my way the last few months!
