The Yahtzee Challenge - Q&A/Discussion Thread

But for this challenge there is a 125 page minimum. I have a few I would read on my shelves that are shorter, but I can't use them :(
I will check out the ones on your list that are 125 pages or longer :)

Can't Help Falling In Love
Let Me Be the One
Come A Little Bit Closer
In Bed With The Boss
Thanks again Kat! I just can't decide what I'm in the mood for. I have a few books to get through for other challenges first, and then I will decide :)

Oops, I thought I checked them all. Glad you have other options!

Catch Me If You Can
When Love Is Not Enough (Unconditional Love, #1)
The Ghost Wore Yellow Socks
The One That Got Away
Strangely all mm ;)

Hi Jane!
Yes, you can join in now and read the alternate books for Dec. and Jan. :)
Just make sure to post each title you read in a category so that you won't use that category in future months.
Welcome to the challenge and have fun!

Thanks Jane! A few of these are going on my tbr even if I don't get to them this month :)

I hope you are enjoying the challenge!
Here is the February Alternate Task. Please remember to roll for your February read between Jan. 28th and Feb.2nd.
February Alternate Task -Read the next book in a series you are reading. If you have none, read the first book in a new series.

I know! Where did January go?? I just started my January read for this challenge today. I thought I had more time, lol.

The rules state you can only complete one task per month. If you started your task for December but didn't finish until January, can that still count towards December? Or, would it count as two tasks completed in January (December and January)?
thanks!

Hi Kristen!
Great question! Thanks for asking it, I will update the rules post above with the answer :)
If you didn't complete your task for a specific month, in this case, December, then you cannot use it for January or any other month. You must complete the task that is meant for that specific month within that month.
But....I will allow that you may use the alternate task for the month you didn't complete and make it up during the next month.
For example....
If you don't complete December's task in time, when it is time to roll for January, you can roll, complete the task you rolled for, and complete the alternate task for December and it will count for December. You will be completing two new tasks for January and you may count one for December. Unfortunately, the book you didn't finish in December doesn't count for this challenge. Hopefully you can fit it into another challenge!

Let's say I try for a Lg straight and don't get it. I use the alternate task. DO I just put this in the Large Straight position? It doesn't seem equal -- lg straight is 4 books of same genre, alternate task this month is one book....
I can use the alternate task over and over if I get unlucky with my rolls?

You may try for a large straight and end up with a small straight. You may end up with nothing that fits. You never know. If you don't have a place for your roll, you should use the 'Chance' spot. Once the 'Chance' spot is filled, you can use an alternate task if you can't fit your roll anywhere. The tasks will vary, and some months will be harder.
I see your point, and I guess it could be easier for some participants who get very unlucky with their rolls and have to use their alternate task frequently. But they will vary and some with have several books to read.
So far my first two months have been 5's (which I could have used for 3 of a kind, so I actually had two choices for that roll) and large straight (which could have gone in the small straight spot if the lg straight spot was already taken.)
It isn't perfectly fair, but I was trying to make it fun and trying to keep the most participants interested and in it each month.

Okay, thank you. I may be able to make it work.

I would like to join this challenge, but cause I discovered it kinda late, do I have first to read alternative tasks for Dec and Jan, and then I can go on? Or I can start from February and those two months to make up any time?

Welcome to the challenge! You will need to read a task for Dec., Jan and Feb. all in February. Please use the alternate tasks for Dec. and Jan. and you can roll for February, you are right on time for next month :)

I finally started it and so far it's really good....kinky, different good. America's Darlings

I think I remember seeing the 26th somewhere...let me check to be sure.
EDIT: Yes, it's in the newsletter that it's the 26th this month.

I hope everyone is enjoying the challenge so far!

Yes! You are right Jane! Sorry I didn't get the post up sooner.

I rolled 3 4s and used the 3 of a kind spot. Can I just delete that and use the 4s (4 word title) spot? I have a list of books I read in December and one fits.
Alternately, I read another book in Feb that is long enough for the 3 of a kind author.

Hi Susan!
Yes, if you read another one that month that fits, you can definitely change the title and the location :)
You can't use the Feb. book to fill the Dec. slot though.

It's time to roll for your April task! Please make sure to roll some time between today and April 2nd.
Here is the April Alternative Task if you need it. The task can also be found in message #4 in this thread.
April Alternate Task- Read one book set in a country you do not live in and read one book set in a place you would like to visit (can be near your hometown or not).

How to I mark it? Do I just pick one of the slots I haven't filled yet, like large straight, for example, and mark it as an alternate task? Or, does it just go at the bottom, after CHance?

I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner!
You can choose any open task you have and just mark it 'alternative task used' or something like that.

May Alternate Task- Read one book that you obtained for free. This could be borrowed from the library, a free ebook, or a book someone lent or gave you.

I hope you are enjoying the challenge!

read one book that has been on your tbr for less than 6 months. If your tbr is newer than 6 months, read one of the 5 oldest titles on your tbr.

You can roll any time between tomorrow, July 29th and August 2nd....good luck and have fun!
