It was definitely somehthing worth reading, the concept was really innovative and interesting. And I am excited for the movie too! Especially because of Dylan O'brien :D
The series was well written and hopefully the movie will not disappoint like a lot of book-movies have been as of late. Ex.city of bones.

I am glad I am not the only one who isn't fond of that particular movie adaptation.
I thought City of Bones was alright. It's kind of what I expected based off other books to movies. Why can't they all be as good as the HP series?
Hi everyone, I'd like to join this challenge! I'm a bit late, but there are still a couple of months left ;)I'm in for 8 books:
1. The Book Thief
2. Me Before You
3. Wuthering Heights
4. Paper Towns
5. The Help
6. To Kill a Mockingbird
7. Thirteen Reasons Why
8. The Casual Vacancy
I have neglected my updates but not my reading!Completed 6/10
1.The Night Circus
2.Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore
3.Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail
4.Joyland
5.Snow Flower and the Secret Fan
6.The Great Gatsby
My favorites have been Wild and The Night Circus - both were amazing!
Just completed my 9th selection - Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel. I love Tudor/Elizabethan English history and really appreciated the story being told from Cromwell's perspective. It was the writing that I had difficulty with in this book. The author writes from Cromwell's perspective, but not in the first or true third person. It made it confusing to figure out who was speaking. Other than that, it was an interesting read and I'll be continuing with the series. Worth reading. 4 stars9/10
I completely agree with you Megan I am 25%ish through Wolf Hall and that's the exact same reason I am struggling with it and I too love anything Tudor England based
Victoria wrote: "I completely agree with you Megan I am 25%ish through Wolf Hall and that's the exact same reason I am struggling with it and I too love anything Tudor England based"Stick with it because it is worth it! I read the last half of the book in one day which made the weird perspective much more understandable.

Update: I've got 8/20 now. Loved the Name of the Wind, and I want to read book 2, but I've also got to make more progress on this challenge. What to do, what to do.
Jeri, continue with your list and do a Name of the Wind book 2 buddy read with me later on...I won't have time before the end of the summer.
Just finished my 10th selection - Unwind by Neal Shusterman. While I appreciate the concept behind this book, I also found it incredibly disturbing. Writing is alright. I would not recommend this book for any child under the age of 17. 3 stars10/10 - Challenge completed but will continue adding as I go
Jodi wrote: "Jeri, continue with your list and do a Name of the Wind book 2 buddy read with me later on...I won't have time before the end of the summer."Jodi, that's a good idea, but I decided to go ahead and read it now while I remember it. We'll have to wait a year or two anyway for book 3. I checked online, and he's still writing it! What did you think of the first book?
Just finished L'ombra del vento by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, which is the Italian version of The Shadow of the Wind. I'm at 6/10 now!

You will have to let me know how you liked it. I really enjoyed the first book. I found it to be really creative, imaginative and dark. All things I love in a book.
I've finished A Game of Thrones. I've just watch all HBO seasons this spring, before reading the book. The book is really good, so as is the TV shows, but it is quite similar, so it was hard to keep my attention to it, to read it fast enough and it is a big book, though the smallest of the five. So if you saw the show and you liked it, I would recommend the book, but you should put a bit of distance between both or you'll get bored, maybe. I do read book after show and movie quite often, but it is the first time, it is so similar that I could devour it fast. I certainly didn't expect that, I've watch True Blood which is also an HBO show, and I've read the books, and it is quite different, but it's not like that with this show, well not for the first season and first book. 12/13 Completed

I've read 11 on that list (over the last few years), and several are on my to do list. I tried to add mine, but the page froze:(. I would like to suggest some fun Non-Fiction. Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of EverythingOutliers: The Story of SuccessLies My Teacher Told MeHow to Read Literature Like a Professor: A Lively and Entertaining Guide to Reading Between the Linesand Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and RedemptionAs for the challenge, I will probably read five more off that list by the end of the year.
Slowly but surely I'm getting there...7/10 down! The Perks of Being a Wallflower
The Knife of Never Letting Go
Still Alice
Congrats on completing your goal Megan!Welcome Kadijah Michelle! You can always try again when updating the list.
Update - I'm at 14/18I've recently finished:
- Joyland by Stephen King - 3.5 stars - not scary, but not as good as the only other of his books that I've read, 11/22/63 (also not scary). I'm interested to try more, it's just a matter of not choosing the bone-chilling ones he's written!
- The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith(aka J.K. Rowling) - 3.5 stars - not as well-written as The Casual Vacancy, but the characters are more likeable. Am keen to read the next, The Silkworm
- A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini - 4.5 stars - another powerful book by Hosseini about life in Afghanistan over an extended time period. Heart-breaking at times, but interesting to get a glimpse into a different world and to see how politics can affect day-to-day living.
Finished 8. My original goal was 7. Please change my goal to 10 for the year. Thanks! The Catcher in the Rye
Flowers for Algernon
The Golem and the Jinni
1984
Unwind
Animal Farm
Middlesex
The Supremes at Earl's All-You-Can-Eat
Just completed my 11th selection - Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel. I enjoyed this second book - much better than the first. While Mantel still employs the same odd wording style, the writing was much easier to read and not quite as confusing. Definitely worth reading and cannot wait for the next book! 4.5 stars11/10
@KatherineDid you read "the eyes of the dragon" it´s not scary. It's a tale he wrote for his daughters or something like that. If you like fantastic medieval you might like this one.

No, I haven't, Chloé - I've looked through his list of books before and don't even recall seeing that one, but he's so prolific, it would be easy to not take all of them in! To be honest, it doesn't really sound like my kind of thing, but sometimes it's good to try things out of your comfort zone, so maybe I'll give it a try at some point! Besides, I do need a dragon for one of my challenges and I'm not exactly falling over any dragons in the books I normally choose to read!

Well, I'm glad if I've helped you for one of your challenge. I hope you'll like it if you give it a try.
Just finished two more books: Me Before You and To Kill a Mockingbird. Though very different books, I liked reading both of them! 3/8

I'll let you know!
I have completed two more books Unwind by Neal Shusterman and A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness which takes me up to 10/10 and I have completed my challenge. This has been a really fun challenge. Thanks for hosting
I just re-checked the listopia book list and noticed that I have read seven (7) books from it! But can I count all those towards my goal because only one of them was in my original plan?If it's ok, then I've completed my challenge by reading 7 books instead of 5 planned..
Can I start this challenge really late? And if so, put me down for eight books! :DThis year, I've read five of them already, so I have three to go!
The ones I've read this year:
A Game of Thrones
Coraline
The Book Thief
The Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom
The Fault in Our Stars
