I'm only through Chapter 6 and I can see that. This one has captured my interest right away rather than getting me at the end.

Roland doesn't want to destroy, but to conquer and subjugate, as he believes he knows best, and seeing his vision fulfilled will make the world greater (his definition of greater, of course.) Both are unable to see that in their extremely Machiavellian methods, they are stripping what makes us human: compassion, honor, and the freedom to choose, even if the choice isn't the "best". Kate manages to take out her aunt with Curran's help, but he gets stuck in an animal phase for awhile. I'm happy Kate stayed with him and thank goodness for her deal with Aunt B.
