M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I'm hoping to make it but I'm still phaffing and vacillating about whether or not I can come. I won't have any new or interesting books to bring to the party but in the absence of the Biggleswade festival I might manage to give Will a spin in the Lotus this time.

Cheers

MTM

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I would really like to come, but I want to visit Mental Dave for a few days afterwards, and getting to him from Biggleswade is a bit complicated. Is there anyone who can give me a lift afterwards to Milton Keynes where I can get the train up to visit Dave? Or anywhere on that train line would do...

I might hold you in reserve then Stu. ;) Thanks.

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Do it! I'm a great reserve! Or as Billy Bragg said "I never made the first team, I just made the first team laugh..."

Grace Elliot (httpwwwgoodreadscomgraceelliot) | 82 comments If it's not too late to express an interest - I'm trying to work out if I can get there and de-conflict work.
A definite 'maybe' in my case.

hurrah!

message 167: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments This could be interesting: I've just set up paperbacks for both First Day and First Case, one is through FeedARead and the other is through Createspace. It'll be a sort of bake-off...

HOPEFULLY they'll both be available by the get together, so it should be an interesting comparison (both books have the same page count and the same print options)

That will be interesting. Mine are both going to be not quite ready, which reminds me if I want any merch to give away I must get some book marks done!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I expect a lovely care package to be left with Simon for me, you know.

Preferably sealed so he doesn't pilfer it. ;)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments nervously excited about the meet-up. I will try not to be too drunk or too weird. But I can't promise...

I'm only coming for the drunk weirdness...

Lynda Wilcox (lyndawrites) | 1059 comments I'm hoping to meet a sober young man (at least early on, he can become drunk and old later - at which time we'll make a good pair) spouting beautiful words that thrill and delight me.

Not forgetting the drink you promised. ;)

message 173: by Stuart (last edited Jan 21, 2014 11:13AM) (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments looks like I'll be getting the train so sober could be well out of the question at any stage. I write when I'm drunk and some people have called some of what I write beautiful so it might all work out!

message 174: by Debbie (new)

Debbie McGowan (debbiemcgowan) | 245 comments Indeed what you write is beautiful.

message 175: by Stuart (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I'm on for the meet but all I have to bring is a few bookmarks and 3 copies of the second book, if anyone wants one. And some post cards and fridgemagnets and stuff.... but you've all got those already.

(I did order some more copies of book 1 but I don't think they'll arrive on time).

Cheers

MTM

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments It wont be the same without you.

message 181: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments Not sure if I have anything to bring except myself and a paperback copy of each of my books. Would that be ok?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments That'll do Stu!

message 184: by Debbie (new)

Debbie McGowan (debbiemcgowan) | 245 comments Ooh, I reckon I can stretch to that too (books)! How far is it from the train station to the hotel? Is it walkable with a bad back?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Apparently its about 5 minutes.

message 186: by Debbie (new)

Debbie McGowan (debbiemcgowan) | 245 comments Gingerlily - Smiter of idiots. wrote: "Apparently its about 5 minutes."

OK. Thanks, Gingerlily - should be able to cope with that, I reckon!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I have a bad back too, and a dodgy knee...

Lucky we're only word athletes, hey!

message 190: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments don't confuse my mates with being athletes! We're just the regulars from The Rising Sun, which makes us basically unique and alcohol-fuelled fools. I guess I owe it to them to display each of those characteristics next weekend...

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Debbie wrote: "Gingerlily - Smiter of idiots. wrote: "I have a bad back too, and a dodgy knee..."

I'm more of a word crawler...

Lynda Wilcox (lyndawrites) | 1059 comments No books or other advertising stuff to bring, sorry, just me and himself. Though I may have brownies.

message 193: by Debbie (new)

I'll dig up your author thread.

Tim | 8539 comments I've now got both Createspace and Feedaread versions of my Socko books, so you'll be able to see how they stack up against each other... (you might be surprised!)

Plus I'll have books, and bookmarks etc. available.

message 196: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Ayris (stuayris) | 2614 comments everyone is so much better organised than I am!

message 197: by Sam (new)

Sam Kates I have 4 or 5 ARC copies of The Cleansing left over that I'm happy to give to people. Is it okay to bring them along, do you think?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Last time we all went home with lots of loot! bring whatever you've got :)

message 199: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I've 10 copies of book 1 on order but they probably won't get here in time. I will bring the car but it's very dirty. I must try and give it some sponge love first.

Stu, have you done the bbc short thing. They want lyrical, powerful stuff and judging by the stories they have on there it'll be right up your alley. It's opening lines. They want a 1,900 - 2,000 word short.

Cheers

MTM
