Sheri, sorry your husband is working. Pizza interesting choice last year for Thanksgiving.
Alyssia, grandparents are fun. I am glad you get to spent time with them.
I am enjoying this series too. She has another series that. Is good. The Guild Hunter series. It has angels and vampires in it. The angels are yummy!

Nobody answered my question....who was the evil mind controlling Amara? Ming? Henry?

Is anyone going to see Catching Fire this weekend? My niece is driving me and Hannah to the movie Saturday. I can't wait! It looks so good!

Lys (lysrowan) The other half of the net mind. The darker side, right?
And certainly it seems as though Kaleb is involved (in a helping capacity). Henry is aware of the dark mind though. I don't know if we have had that confirmation about other council members (other than kaleb). My phone keeps typing it kraken. Lol. :)
I wouldn't mind him "kraken ing" me. :D

Aarati | 197 comments Yes, it is the other side of the Net Mind, I think it is called the Dark Mind(can't remember, sorry. I read this book sometime last year.)

I thought it was one person.

Alyssia, lol

It's the antithesis to the NetMind.

Ok. When Amara was brought over to Dorian's Net through Ashayna that dark mind stopped influencing her.

Aarati | 197 comments Yes. Since she is no longer part of the PsyNet, the DarkMind can't reach her.

But now there is darkness in the Web of Stars. And in order to not split their own Netmind, they have to leave it.

They send Amara away, right? I think, that the distance helps maintain the sanctity of the Web of Stars as well as help Amara change her dark habits. She was always so dependent on Ashaya, and now, staying away from her twin, Amara has to work that much harder to be trusted and be a close-knit family with Ashaya. This is what I figured out from what I do remember of this book.

They have her working at a lab hoping that she will gain their trust.

I have to admit that even though these books are pretty predictable in their outcome, I'm enjoying the author's writing. With each new book she's adding more layers and it is getting pretty complex.

I am enjoying it too. Maybe we can read her other series,Guild Hunter? It has angels and vampires in it. The angels are yummy! I have read the first three and I like them.

lol! and as a super powerful telekenetic, he totes could. i um.. i'm gonna be in my bunk :P

Gwenn (idlecuriosity) Amara does keep her distance, but Sacha is so repulsed/attracted to her complete lack of emotions, so we get to see a bit of them interacting, and it's adorable. Sacha gives her homework to learn how to be a real person. I hope we see more of amara cause I'm always a fan of emotionless people.

speaking of, I am shipping Nikita and Anthony so hard :D

Gwenn (idlecuriosity) Aarati wrote: "Yes. Since she is no longer part of the PsyNet, the DarkMind can't reach her."

And the Dark mind was born from the psy repressing all their dark impulses, but on the Web of Stars, nobody's repressing those. well, not like the psy did with Silence, so the sentience of the Web of Stars is unlikly to develop a Dark Mind of it's own to work it's bad juju on the pack.

Sorry for the post wall i'm creating, but I agree. she is pretty predictable, so I think that's why she tries to hide things from us, like the idetnity of the Ghost and what Sierra's dangerous psy ability is.
From other forums about the books, she's said that the series is plotted out well in advance, and she knwos how the plot will progress. I'm a big fan of authors who do that instead of writing series as they go.

Yeah, the world-building is awesome and there are some unique ideas, even if the "end" is always really obvious.

Hey, is anyone else the least bit curious about the "rats?" Or is it just me? I don't think they've been brought up in conversation before.

Gwenn (idlecuriosity) they hint at a lot of cool shifters. the rats get explored more in later books. and also aquatic shifters!
not enough aquatic shifter imo. maybe there's a for realz kraken :3
I want a wolf/aquatic shifter pair!!

message 73: by Lys (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lys (lysrowan) I'm reading the .5 and .6 (etc) stories right now and the rats have come up a few times. They are pretty interesting. I found it weird that the main plot line brings them in decimAted, but I guess that allows her to build them.

That would be an interesting mix.

Gwenn (idlecuriosity) yep!
Wild Invitation has 4 of them i think. the Nate/Tasmyn prequel and some others. The others happen further on in the series though. but I think worth picking up.
She also has some short stories up on her website to read for free

message 77: by Lys (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lys (lysrowan) And there are other compilations out there with her stories.

I have read two so far, and I liked them.
The Tamsyn/Nate one was especially interesting because I didn't see their "conflict" coming. They are so very at peace with each other in the "modern day" plot line, so it was nice to go back to roots.

Aarati | 197 comments Oh, I love her novellas. Nate and Tamsyn novella was one of my favourite! I also loved Ria and Emmett's(Whisper of Sin) story. Then after you read Kiss of Snow, you can read Declaration of Courtship and Texture of Intimacy-this in particular, you can read only after Kiss of Snow, since it's a continuation from Hawke's book. There is also another book on Zach and Annie(Stroke of Enticement)

Also I love the Guild Hunter series!! Raphael is one of my favourite heroes.

message 79: by Lys (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lys (lysrowan) I just finished Whisper of Sin. It was really good.

Aarati | 197 comments Hey guys, you just finished these initial Psy-changeling books. Could one of you please tell me which are the couple up till now who talk talk to each other mind to mind?

message 81: by Sheri, Bookworm (new) - rated it 4 stars

Sheri | 13547 comments Mod
Clay and Talin did a little bit of that, I think.

Aarati | 197 comments Well there's Sascha and Lucas, that I know for sure. I need to know the other couple, who can actually talk mind to mind.

I wasn't sure where to put this since we don't have an official thread going right now :)

The last Cat and Bones book (#7) is going to be the last:
