Did Twilight give you weird dreams? Did you dream that you were a vampire and Edward fell in love with you? Does reading affect our dreams?

I can't say that I ever dreamt that...but I definitely incorporate what I read or watch into my dreams. I have a crazy dream life though, lol

Usually when I'm really into something - like say reading an entire series in a couple of days - I will have super specific dreams about that series.
I was reading the Harry Potters for the second time or something and I absolutely despise that Sirius dies and well, I dreamt he was to me what he is to Harry and he died and I was practically crying in my dream. lol It was really upsetting...

I think that real life experiences tend to affect my dreams more than reading does. So does eating spicy foods and drinking wine too late at night, to be honest.

If you give it too much thought, say you are obsessed with something then you might dream about it, whether it is a book or any real life incidence.
In my experience, I often dream of coding/logic if I had have a busy day doing programming.
And there are other similar scenarios.

I took the survey, but the one important question not asked is what you felt before you went to sleep. Were you tired or did you go to bed because "it was time" to sleep? Did you fall asleep reading or watching TV in bed? There are sleep specialists who study this in detail and I would love to hear on of them discuss the impact of pre-sleep activities on dreaming.

I was reading the part in the Twilight series when Bella is pregnant , and my friend was pregnant at the same time . I dreamt my friend had a similar baby to Bella's. The little girl was born and within 1 month she was running around with long hair etc, looking like a toddler! Freaky dream....

That didnt happen for me but when I am writing it does work like that, the only movies or books that bother me are horrors but thats because I am a wimp lol. They give me terrible nightmares :)

I totally agree, when i watch some films, read books, i dont get engrossed as much as i do when writing, my characters will invade my head sometimes when i am doing something....which i though i was going mad...to be told its normal.....and i will get inspiration, very strange, but also as Katumbria said, things come to you in dreams and daydreams.

Yeah I also agree with Sharon argument, writing is a way to solve the problem, it could be a great way to record at least the memory means. Stephenie Meyer did, and we can read the story of her dream. Yes, I had a dream like that, that there is someone who likes me, and we cuddle each other, may be the same as in the twilight did. LOL. Just got dream like that after read twilight.

I ever thought that it was true, even after I woke up, what we are doing in the dream it feels really real. it makes me ashamed that person face in my dreams is the same person as one of my classmates. Not my crush, but charming and mysterious. (just share a little story, too bad it is just because I read twilight and it affects my dream and it is only dream, but nice dream)

@Sharon: Yea, and maybe the dreams have something to do with the amount of brain you are using. I mean, of course you would use more of your brain in writing than in reading, then the thoughts might keep on hanging there in the subconscious and then when you are a bit restless in your sleep they appear in front, as a dream, or something like that.

And since it has come to this, let me share the dream-experience of my kind-of-ex-girlfriend. She used to dream a lot (I don't know if she still does), and a classmate of ours was there in every single dream of hers. She hadn't had a crush on him, I can assure that, they were just usual class-buddies. She wasn't obsessed with him or anything but still there he was in every single dream.
I know it is kind of weird and hard to believe, but I see no reason why she would be lying about that.

And yea, you could induce this little piece of idea in your story if you ever happen to write it. :)

Dreams can be the most wonderful and the most terrifying thing for a human to experience, especially those that feel so real, hard to awaken from, its your brains way of processing information and filing it, but wow can it have the strangest effects on you lol.
Psychological effects from nightmares can terrify you from wanting to sleep and those wonderful ones can really make you want to fall back into them but if we have those dreams and you are that terrified or you enjoyed it so much then utilize what your brain is giving you and put it in words, one never knows, it could be something everyone would enjoy, just as Stephanie Myers did, would love to make her money lol!!!!
