Jane Badger horse books and pony mad book lovers are two websites to look at. They have search features.
Kind of a far reach, as the main character is a boy and the horse is white. I remember reading this but I don't really remember anything about the plot. It's an idea, at least.
Is it possible it is Patricia Leitch "For the Love of a Horse?" I think Jinny (the lead character)and her family had just moved so she may well have been unhappy. The horse was a chestnut Arabian from what I remember. There are other books in the series so it might be one of them. I am sure there is one where she thinks about running away. The Night of the Red Horse possibly?
No, it's definitely not any of the Jinny books. I had a look at the Nancy Springer ones but I don't think it's any of those either. It's possible the horses name was Pat. I'm still sifting through websites trying to find it, I'll certainly have a search through those two bookel, thank you!
Oh gosh I think I found it. I think it's 'Horse of Air' by Lucy Rees. I'd better order it and find out! Thanks for all your help!

I read it around 1995-2000. It had a girl in it and she somehow was given or bought a horse. I think the horses's name was Don but I'm not sure.
She ended up having to bring him halfway across the country or something on a long trip.. She might have been running away and I don't think she was very happy.The copy I read was a hardback and I think it had a chestnut horse illustration on the cover.
I can't remember much else sadly apart from that I adored this book!
