Okay, we all talk about books, but let's try to get to know each other a little better! Here are the rules:

- answer the three questions posted by the person before you
- ask three questions of your own.

I'll start with the three questions:
- where are you from?
- what is your favorite snack food?
- what are the three closest objects to you right now?

April (dwndrgn) | 44 comments 1.The Time Engine by Sean McMullin - it is the fourth in the series and it took me several years to find a copy and now I've mostly forgotten most of the story so I don't have a big urge to read it.
2.I haven't seen the first half of The Hobbit yet so probably not in the theater. Too 'spensive.
3.I watch Jeopardy and the news before it comes on and that is about it.

Favorite nonfiction book?
Favorite cookbook?
Bookmarks: never use them, hopelessly addicted, or what's a bookmark I read eBooks?

message 27: by April (new)

April (dwndrgn) | 44 comments 1.Nonfiction? I rarely read those but Opening Skinner's Box by Lauren Slater was good (if quite disturbing at the same time)
2.I don't often cook and though we do have several cookbooks on hand, when I need a recipe I crowdsource from the internet.
3.I use them constantly but they might be something pretty that was designed for it or they might be some random piece of paper I picked up when needed. My current favorites are a set of images of a feather with an image of an owl worked into the end of the feather.

1. That is a good, difficult question. Shoots. I'll go with Roger Zelazny's Amber world, since you can weave anything into existence and go to any time period.
2. Stick straight. I like curls, but trust me, corkscrew wouldn't look good on me.
3. Well, since my cat overlord is looking at me so evilly right now...CATS. NO HESITATION.

Questions:

3. If you could change the ending to any book, which one would it be..and, you guessed it, why?

1. Right now I want dinner with Jenks simply because he's hilarious.

2. Magician by Raymond E. Feist although a series would be better to fully explore the world and characters.

3. The Sookie books because the final 2 seemed rushed as though Charlaine Harris had lost interest in them and just wanted to get it over with.

message 35: by Nick (new)

Nick | 100 comments - Favourite childhood memory?
Making an entire Ghostbusters costume out of stuff I found around the house, then having my dad play a cruel practical joke on me that made me think our house was haunted.
- Read with or without background noise?
Doesn't matter. I have the ability to completely "switch off" background noise while reading.
- Colour of the top you're wearing?
Light grey.

OK, my turn!

1) Which fictional character would you most want at your side during a zombie apocalypse?

2) What book series with wereanimals would you most like to become a member of? What wereanimal would you be?
3) You just got the newest in your favorite series. Where would you like to read it and what would you be doing? (What you you eat, your surroundings, etc. Anywhere you wish.)

message 37: by April (new)

April (dwndrgn) | 44 comments 1) I don't watch much tv so I'll consider the question to be what tv series I'd like to see resurrected - probably Firefly or Voyagers (time travel series from the 80's)or both.
2) I think I'd have to choose Patricia Briggs' world created for the Mercy Thompson and Alpha and Omega series. I like how they are all well integrated into human society but also have their own too. I'd probably be some sort of big cat, cheetah maybe.
3) I have multiple favorite series but money were no object, I'd like to read it in an empty (of people) house with all sorts of snacks and drinks on hand but no distractions.

My questions:
1. If you could choose a superpower but only one of these three: invisibility, flight, strength, which would you choose?
2. If you had to bake a cake to impress a new boss/friend/neighbor what kind of cake would it be?
3. You own a big plot of land that you can't use and now is suddenly of interest to a big box store and they offer a pile of money for it. Do you take it?

message 38: by Marcella (last edited Mar 20, 2014 05:19PM) (new)

Marcella (toobloodyhot) | 8 comments 1) Strength. I want to be able to open my own jars.
2) Death by chocolate!
3) Yep. We need more Ikea and in my neighbourhood it wouldn't put any small business out because there just aren't any, so my conscience would be clear so I can take the cash then spend it all in Ikea. Win!

My questions:
1) If you could live any where in the world, where would it be?
2) What do you do when you're not reading?
3) If you could undo one bad thing that happened in the world at any point in time, what would it be?

message 39: by Jeanny (new)

Jeanny (qubanqt) 1) If you could live any where in the world, where would it be?
My personal tropical Island not too far from civilization

2) What do you do when you're not reading?
Be mundane eat, sleep, work repeat.

3) If you could undo one bad thing that happened in the world at any point in time, what would it be?
The moment mankind discovered discrimination with in their psyche. Discrimination fueled much of history's more unpleasant events.

My questions
1, If you had a once in a life time round trip to your choice of the past or future & a safe return back to the present, which would you choose & why?

2, If you lived in the wizarding world of harry potter & attended Hogwarts which of the four houses would the sorting hat determine you belong to Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, or Slytherin & why?

3, Please recommend me a good urban fantasy book. =)

message 40: by April (new)

April (dwndrgn) | 44 comments 1. The Renaissance - I'd like to see all those artists and intellectuals in action.
2. Ravenclaw
3. Cry Baby Hollow by Aimee Gilchrist or Under Witch Moon by Maria E. Schneider

1. When you pay for something with cash, do you try to give exact change or just hand over bills even though you know you have change on hand?
2. Most often reading position: sitting up, lying down or sprawled sideways?
3. Milk: whole, 2%, skim...?

message 41: by ♡Esra♡ (new)

♡Esra♡ | 11 comments My A's
1.If there is people waiting behind me, I hand over big bills just so I don't make people wait behind me. I don't like to be rushed, so I can't stand and fish the exact change calmly. Better wait for it so it's not my fault. lol
2. I change positions constantly :) Mostly lying face down then face up and then some sprawling would be good too.
3. 2%

My Q's

1. Do you ever save the last book in the series, you know it will be awesome, but you don't want to part with the characters just yet?
2. Do you think I should ignore my McDonald's craving right now and just skip it?
3. The last book you rated with 5 stars?

message 42: by Jeanny (last edited Mar 21, 2014 11:49AM) (new)

Jeanny (qubanqt) 1. Do you ever save the last book in the series, you know it will be awesome, but you don't want to part with the characters just yet?
Yes, although it boggles the mind as to why. I preorder as soon as the feature becomes available on Amazon. Am so excited to have it. When it appears on my kindle's home screen I sit on it...

2. Do you think I should ignore my McDonald's craving right now and just skip it?
Yes, exercise will power in all things with few exceptions. Usually sweets & books.

3. The last book you rated with 5 stars?
Surprisingly it's a YA series about aliens. What’s surprising about it is I don’t usually read about aliens nor am a fan of YA. I’m thankful I took the risk on this recommendation bc it’s an enjoyably light read. Genera: YA
Title: Obsidian (Lux #1)
Author: Jennifer Armentrout

My Questions
1. If you lived in a world of bartering, what current skill would earn your livelihood?

2. Should Armageddon come to pass which book’s version of this post-apocalyptic world would you choose to live in?

3. Would you classify your need to read as a carefree hobby or an addiction?

message 43: by boekverslaafde (new)

boekverslaafde | 8 comments 1. If you lived in a world of bartering, what current skill would earn you your livelihood?
I'd have to say cooking. I'd prolly run a bed & breakfast or restaurant, and collect payment of things I need or need done for my services :)

2. Should Armageddon come to pass, which book's version of this post-apocalyptic world would you chose to live in? seriously this is a tough one. I'm thinking I'd prolly go with a indy author named E.E. Borton, and his version in 'without' where mother nature goes hay-wire and wipes off all electrical & battery powered things. Takes you back to a simpler time...if you can survive the harsh weather mother nature throws at you, it wouldn't be so hard to carry on :)

3. Would you classify your need to read as a carefree hobby or an addiction? well, considering i finish a book on average every day and a half, I'd have to go with addiction. my therapist thinks so too...

my questions:
1)do you like reading indy books, or stick to well known authors?

2)at least 3 books you can't live without reading once a year.

3)Sookie Stackhouse or Anita Blake & why?
