I was wondering that, too.

The books have some overlapping and recurring characters, but for the most part, each book can stand on its own. (I definitely would read Presumed Innocent before reading Innocent, though, as it's a true sequel.) From the description of Identical, it seems to me that it will work for anyone, whether or not they've previously read any Turow.
