Just finished Version Control and am a little disappointed. It had lots of components that were interesting but somehow it didn't all come together for me - it was a long book and felt longer. So, it was OK, not great. However, if you love time travel and theories of time travel, you'd probably still enjoy the book.

Just starting The Red Notebook which should be a change of pace.

Just finished A Darker Shade of Magic. I love when I stumble upon amazing reads like this one! Such a unique and intriguing story, steeped with fantasy, magic and adventure....it's a must read if you enjoy this genre of books!!
Started the 2nd book today!!

Margie, it was a great quick read and being an avid magic, fantasy and serial "series & trilogy " reader it was right up my alley! I can't recall how I found it but I am so glad that I did! Can't wait to hear what you think about it once you get it from the library. I'm only a few chapters into the 2nd book and loving it already. I also saw she wrote another book as well so I will be adding it to my ever growing list of "to reads".

Just started The Notebook; I just finished which was the kick off to a Nicholas Sparks marathon I have planned to read. But at this moment I will most likely only read the NS books that were turned into move. I have already seen the moves I want to see how they actually compare to the books. I know the books are always better but I still like to see what kinds of artistic liberties were taken when making the movie.

Just on the last book of the Elena Ferrante Neopolitan series. How found each one fascinating. Not my usual kind of read. I find myself completely caught up in the story and live every emotion. Fantastic characters and the reader can smell and feel the settings. Great reads....and 4 books!

I'm currently reading The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein which is 466 pages long and not an easy read by any standards but I am finding it very interesting. It's about "disaster capitalism" and the belief that the Western governments influence world politics in order to create opportunities for the super rich to get richer and don't give a damn about the ordinary people just trying to keep a roof over their head and feed their families. It's quite frightening really but I think it's worth reading. To be fair I will be glad when I've finished it and can read something a little easier. I'm on page 281.

I was trying to make my way through all the Nicholas Sparks books that had been turned into movies but after the 4 Nicholas Sparks book in a row I needed a little break from all the sadness. So I am currently reading HEAT - The Complete Series: BURN, SPARK, BLAZE & INFERNO. And I probably won't pick up another NS book until next month. That should give my brain enough time to decompress from all the NS death.

Been a few weeks since I've posted on this thread. So yeah finished Brave New World a few weeks back. Now reading No Love Lost by Margery Allingham Its a mystery (in more than just the book genre). I had it marked as being read ages ago, back when I got it early 1990s but the spine didn't have any telltale marks of it having been read. I have the paperback version so other than a few scrape marks on the sides of the spine it looked like it had never been read. Now that I am some 50 pages from finishing it and the story (two stories actually) is not too familiar and not ringing any bells. I will still mark this reading as being the "2nd" reading but in reality it is probably only the first. At least the first FULL reading maybe it had been an abandoned read back then. It is also possible it was one of my super quick reads where I read the book faster than I normally did back then, which would explain not remembering details about it but not the careful "unread" look to the spine. Between my reading it in earnest right now and cramming the book into my backpack to take for reading at work the spine is getting its "read" look creases.

It helps with at least one of the two or three mini challenges I'm doing.

Also one of the first few editions you can find the short story "Young Zaphod Plays it Safe". Been ages since I've read that story though. I recall before I had gotten an edition of Hitchhikers that included this short story, a friend of mine had gotten this "Ultimate" edition or another collection edition that included the short story. Since it was the first time either of us had seen or heard of the story, he made me a photocopy from his copy. I think I still have those photocopied pages somewhere. I used to keep it in my edition of one of the "Omnibus" editions. Might still be there.

Don't forget there are technically 6 books in the "trilogy". The last book "And Another Thing" is by Eoin Colfer so it might be on a separate shelf than the others, should be in the same section, just not next to the Adams volumes.

Ok, thanks Cap! Eion Colfer is one my favarote authors, I loved his YA books, so hopefully the last one lives up to both standards!

I am currently reading "a darker shade of magic" by Victoria schwab, and in my opinion this book is good but great. Victoria could have used this great concept of parallel worlds to write an adult story about wars and politics between the different version of Londons. Something like game of thrones.

I'm reading 'The Butterfly Cabinet' by Bernie McGill. It's set in Coleraine area in Northern Ireland and as I spent 4 years at Coleraine university I'm intrigued by it. Getting interesting and very well written with all of our sayings included.

I finished The Trouble with Goats and Sheep. It's a mystery/coming of age story and was very good. Sometimes stories that focus on a child's POV can be annoying, but this hit the right notes for me. I've now started Middlemarch - it's easier reading than I expected but it could be awhile....

Well I took a new job...and I am traveling 70% of the time so my reading time is restricted to the plane and if I can stay awake at night when I get back to the hotel. So I've been doing a lot of audible to get my book time in. Just finished the Red Queen & working on finishing up Ink & Bone. Hopefully the rest of the month will be more productive in regards to my reading.
