I'm reading An Angel at my Table and listening to The Point of Honor: A Military Tale. It's basically my first audiobook in years and I'm really enjoying it, the narrator is sooo good!

The Cornish Coast Murder by John Bude. This book is one of the British Library Crime Classics. It has simple plot lines. Most of these books were written in the 1930's. Don't compare it with Agatha Christie or you might be disappointed. Amazon has more of these books and some of them are free with Kindle Unlimited.

I have a quote that says once you read a book, a part of it is always with you. I recently read The Birds by Daphne du Maurier. Yesterday I was sitting at the bus stop. Across the street there were about 5 doves, then there were 10. I remembered that part of the story where the birds were all gathering, waiting for the tide, then they would attack. It gave me a creepy feeling.

Current book Slater's Planet by Harris Moore. Published in 1971 So far it reads like '50s/'60s pulp space sci-fi mixed with an Original Star Trek Episode. I'm not saying that is bad, but it does have the feel of the times it was written.

Slowly chipping away at Plague Dogs and The Imortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Both are good. Plague Dogs is sad. I love Snitter, he is such an interesting character. Imortal Life of Henrietta Lacks is quite facanating to learn about all the science that went into one thing we take for granted and how many things she affected without even knowing.

Sing for Us by Stephen Wise. Amazon recommended this book for me. The setting is a field hospital in the Civil War. The rations and supplies are low. The book is quite graphic,especially when the wounded come in. One poor guy got hit in the head with a cannon ball, he was missing his teeth, his tongue and one side of his face.

I'm reading City of Stairs, it was a recommended read from Barnes & noble and I can say it's a very interesting story. It takes about 50+ pages to really get into the story. But once you hit that point it's impossible to put down, amazing read, well written, well drawn characters and an intriguing tale. If you like fantasy and are looking for a captivating read I would recommend it.

I'm in a serious book slump. I've got a stack of things started.. All of them good. But I just can't seem to focus on anything. Blech! I hope it clears up soon.

I hate it when that happens. It must be contagious. I felt the same way in early October. When that happens I just pick something and read it, usually a short story. I ask myself what do I want to read, sci-fi, mystery, etc.. Goodreads helped me out of my slump, a friend recommended The Mystery of the Yellow Room. Then I found some Detective Lavender books.

Renee, given that you have many books that you like on the go but you don't feel like reading, maybe is not the books but the reading activity the issue. What about taking a break, put the books aside and do something else for a few days, do you have any hobbies or crafts that can distract you? some of my artistic friends have taken up adult coloring books :)
then, like Cindy suggested, pick something short and sweet. I hope you'll get over your book slump soon!

Renee, I feel the same way! I've been so inundated with uni reading and I've been so busy, reading anything seems like the last thing on my mind!

I'm half way through Pudd'nhead Wilson by Mark Twain, and I need to finish that and read The Spanish Tragedy for Tuesday. Fun times!

(I really want to read Go Set a Watchman but I haven't had any time at all...)

I started Winter by Marissa Meyer this week.

I had a book slump that lasted around 5 years at one point - very odd. Only time in my life that I wasn't reading incessantly through.

I am midway through A Banquet of Consequences right now - by this evening I will probably be well into Caesar's Women as I have only 200 pages to go.

Unusually, I found it very slow to 'get into'. Took about 150 pages before I was romping away - and I know what the problem is - the ridiculous focus on Barbara Havers and the silly Superintendent reads like stick figures - the Super IS a stick figure! Barbara is a long-developed character being made to fit into a square hole. George has suddenly resorted to naked stereotypification.

I've been in a book slump for the last 10 years, but in the last few weeks I've managed to dig myself out of it and start reading again. Feels good to be back!

I'm currently reading The Short Drop, the debut novel for Matthew Fitzsimmons. I'm loving it so far - I've never been into political thrillers, but this is fantastic.

I got back in to reading books last year, and picked up speed with it this year. I'm currently reading Furiously Happy, which I quite like. A lot of it is random ranting, but there have been a few comedy moments in it that I think of and giggle at.

Even though I am still reading Winter by Marissa Meyer today I started The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here for?. I will be reading one chapter per day as it was recommended to me to do so. As the holiday season approaches taking the last 40 days to reflect and using this book to do since i Have heard great things about it, might get me to start the new year even better.

Currently reading: Wizards, Aliens, and Starships: Physics and Math in Fantasy and Science Fiction I am not a huge sciences type guy so it is a challenging read for me. Technically I restarted my reading of it (I'll have to put a personal note to remind myself that this first reading was rebooted after several weeks of not reading any)

The whole series, the Lunar Chronicles was very good. I really enjoyed it. I highly recommend the series.

I am currently not reading anything serious. I have been reading s a few of the quick reads that I stock up on my Kindle for free last year. Doing kind of a clearing my brain out so that I have a fresh slate for the new year.

I am doing the same thing, reading the short stories that collect on my Kindle and Ibooks. I needed to take a small break and prepare for the new year. I really liked Christmas at Thompson Hall by Anthony Trollope.
