He's a Boston favorite too, Susie! He really brought it!

The Rangers are now being run by a money guy who never played baseball. He doesn't want any long term contracts with the players, so I expect we will lose many of our players. Nolan Ryan, the face of the Rangers organization, was so disgusted with the direction this team is heading that he quit and sold his share of the Rangers.

Barry wrote: "We renting a camper for the big trip out to Prescott?"

You can forget that idea, Dan. With America's top mystery readers on the case you wouldn't last a day.

Thanks, Lorraine, and thanks for Uehara. He is brilliant. I'd read about Nolan Ryan but didn't know the reason behind his exit. Too bad.

Okay, I'll just bravely face my fate. (Sob.)

A vintage British mystery that was a bit over the top but eventually entertaining. When Gregory Matthews is discovered dead in his bed, a host of family members surface, each with a motive to kill him. The characters were all annoying and unpleasant, and some parts of the resolution downright silly, but I found it entertaining nonetheless and will listen to another in the series featuring Inspector Hannaysde.

A rich man is poisoned at his birthday party. The crime introduces a villain who has a grudge against men and against Eve, and she is determined to make Eve pay in the way she most fears. This was another in the series of bland characterizations, I hope it is the last as I miss the distinctive voices of Peabody, McNabb and the gang. Still, the story was entertaining as ever.

Love those legal thrillers set in Boston. Scott Finn is about to become partner in a top law firm when he runs into a roadblock. A friend, a woman he used to date, is found murdered, and he quickly becomes the top suspect. Not an unusual plot but I liked the MC, the twists and turns came at a satisfying pace, and, well, it’s set in Boston.

For the first third of this novel I thought “I’m done with serial killer novels.” Then the characters, including step-daughter Tess and a co-worker whose Chinese name I won’t attempt, took hold and led me through a chase that kept my attention through the last spoken word. I’ll be returning to visit FBI Special Agent Patrick Bowers. Interesting side-note: the imprint on this book is something like “Recorded Books Inspirational” which seemed odd for a book about a serial killer. In looking back I see there is indeed a mild spiritual subtext, but one that is not off-putting.
