I've noticed quite a few people posting word counts all over this folder. Here's one place where you can tell us how many words you have. Just remember not to spend too much time here- write! :)

I just closed out my day with 2,018! As a nano newbie, it feels good to have reached my goal one day one (my goal is 2,000 words a day).
Day 1 - 3,130 words(Much more than i wrote any day last year in NaNo. So a personal best for me!)
However, what day 2 will bring remains to be seen...
Day one and I've completed 4000 words. Day two, and it's about 3 in the afternoon, I've reached only about 1200 today. Hope to reach 8000 by midnight.

4k isn't a lot at all. I've seen people targeting reaching 26k already.
If you're within the world you've created, you can describe the world you live in. The characters that live in the world you make, reach out to you, telling you about themselves, what they wish to tell you, right from their dressing sense to their past history.
A little bit of research in between writes rejuvenates the mind from the stress of words flowing into your brain.
And with such practice, the brain remains active along with the creative flow of words through the sub-conscious mind.
Anyone and everyone has this ability. It only needs to be developed by allowing as many words can be written. And I'm sure everyone here can easily cross the goal/milestone. Determination and planning are the key factors involved required. :)
You guys are so far, I'm only reaching 800 now! I had major writes block, I still do, but I slept for 10 hours and now part of my inspiration has returned.
I agree with CJ. You guys are just pushing obstacles far behind you. I'm am around the 200 zone and that's because i started writing today! Alas, the day's lag behind still has a chance to turn around----
Keep going, people! And let me just say, I just LOVE your enthusiasm. WORDS WARRZZZ!

So far I'm still at 2,018. Haven't written yet today--I'm planning on writing at my brother's baseball game later this afternoon. Fresh air is good.
because im super stuck in my first few paragraphs im starting off with a freewrite to stretch my brain for a bit.
i agree, jess.:D

I managed to cross 6600 words by the end of second day. Didn't cross my target of 8000 words. Well, the average is still good.
As long as we're all hitting at least 1,700K by midnight every night, we're still in good shape! My goal is 2K a day. Wish me luck!
I'm at 11k right now. I'm going to try to stay awake long enough to get to 12k, but I'm not sure how well that'll work :P
Yesterday i was unable to add to my 886 word count. But, seeing that it was Halloween and that i spent a rare day out with family it had to take priority. Now that things are less busy i shall be trying my hardest to catch up. ...lets see what today will bring.
7k, which means I am on track but not where I want to be...I got in my "zone" the first day, but the past two I've been struggling (lucky me I have had a large amount of free time).
I have 1,690 more words to write by midnight (it's 2:33pm here)...ugh. So that means I've written 4,310 words of my nano novel so far..I have to hit 6K by tonight!
Even after having a Writer's Block for writing no more, I did manage to write about 2200 words today. I never thought I'd be able to write so much.
Shlomo wrote: "Even after having a Writer's Block for writing no more, I did manage to write about 2200 words today. I never thought I'd be able to write so much."I think NaNo is suprising us all, in terms of just proving that it is possible to write more than you expect! :)
Usually the first few days of nano are hard because you need to get into the rhythm, but I can say that I'm pleasantly surprised--everyone seems to be rocking their word counts and hitting/surpassing their goals at surprisingly fast rates. It's awesome! HIGH FIVES ALL AROUND!
Laura wrote: "How long is it taking all of you to complete your word counts?"Must you ask?! *cries* day 1 i was so full of energy...we are only day 5 and i already feel terribly drained. What normally takes 8 or so hours, seems to be taking a lot longer today.
I think today is just one of those days, you know? As it continues to drag on...and on...and on...i have written for about 4 hours so far and i just feel like a slug trying to pull the words out - perhaps i should take a break!
I awoke this morning and everything felt off. I overslept and so was up later than usual. Then, i had an argument with family because of lost items of clothing! A glass was acidently smashed earlier and i am still finding shards of glass on the floor to sweep up. I don't know why but today things just don't feel quite right?? Weird.
660 more words to go before I'm done for the day! I feel like the closer I get to reaching my goal, the harder I find it to keep writing. I get "I just want to be FINISHED" syndrome!!
Jessica wrote: "How's everyone's word counts going? I'm at 10,066 right now. Gotta hit 12,000 by midnight!"That's not in a day is it?! *shakes head in disbelief* no it can't be!
Today is a dreadful day...it has been so busy, including a doctor's visit (no one can blame my health) and so i have only written a poor 1,749 words. I suppose its better than nothing.
Finishing the word count for the day to 2500, I hadn't expected to write as my family relations had come over. Eventually it was done, and I've reached 15200 words at the end of the day.
Oh no Lucinda, it isn't in a day! I write 2,000 words a day :) Right now I have 998 more words to write before I hit my goal
