Vampires
Nov 29 4*
Thus far, this series is getting better and better. This is the best book so far. I am enjoying the storyline. We find out Kate's parentage, which was hinted at in previous books. This series so far has had a perfect blend of badassness, humor, action, gore, you name it. The buildup between Kate and Curran is well done and has me most definitely wanting more!
I have yet to start my Demons book I'm trying to squeeze in a quick read for my other team challenge then I'll be starting it right after that.

I switching my Demons book to
. I liked the first book enough to want to start the next one right away, plus it's on the shelf, I just love these multipurpose series :D

Shelf #7 ~ 24/11/13: Demons
I'm really enjoying Charlie's story so far.
She is a very realistic character and apart from her tendency to avoid her problems sometimes, I find little to dislike about her. Hank is also a very well liked character and we finally get to learn some things about his past (view spoiler) .
By the end of this book our heroes have gone through a great deal - they traveled to Carbydon, or what's close to hell in their world in order to save Charlie's sister, solved some of their problems and discovered a couple of new ones.
I'm really looking forward to reading Shadows Before the Sun next and seeing how things turn out.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I found the beginning of the book to drag a bit. I also was put off with all the designer names etc, but I do realize they were put there to help show us how rich the Blue Bloods are. Thankfully that all eventually ended and the author started letting us get to know her main characters better.
This world is strange, but interesting. There is still quite a bit that doesn't make sense, but hopefully that all will be explained better in the future books. Books I will be reading!

Thanks Sandra, I'd missed that change - it's fixed now. :)

Dead and Gone continues with Sookie in trouble again. This time it is the Fae world at war with each other. Some Fairies only want them to live in the Fairy world while others want to have the right to live in both the human and Fae world. Also the Were and Shapeshifters decide to reveal themselves to the world. This is met with mixed emotions by the humans. The reveal sparks a death of a supe from Hot Shot.
I found some of the story boring because there is rehash of different things that have happened in past books. I found myself somewhat skipping those parts or just skimming over them. Sookie is not involved with anyone at the start of this book. Her and Bill are over, even though Bill is still in love with her. Eric has feelings for Sookie but does he love her, that is the question you will be asking yourself by the end of this book.
Sookies Great-Grandfather Naill is again in this book. You learn more about Sookie's past. Jason and Sookie are slowly trying to get their relationship back. I will finish this series just not sure when.
I'm half done my demons book I should have it done tonight or tomorrow , it all depends on what my work schedule is like :)

Overall pretty good. I liked Cameron and Jack (mostly). I liked the snippets with the killer as well; the reader finds out early on who it is. This might have ruined it, but added to the suspense. The one thing I really, really didn't like was Jack's thought that Cameron couldn't have a nice house without a rich husband (or rich ex-husband). I also thought Cameron forgave Jack a little too easily; some groveling would have been called for.

A great addition to an awesome series!
Charlie continues to be pretty kick-ass and fiercely loyal and in this part of her story she is on a mission to save her partner. She gets to see Elysia, the opposite of Charbydon and the equivalent of paradise, but her determination to find and rescue Hank makes it less enjoyable for Charlie than it would be otherwise.
A lot of things get resolved, (view spoiler) enemies vanquished and mysteries uncovered and there has been some foreshadowing that makes me hopeful for a sequel, despite hearing that this is probably the end of the series.
For now, there is a short story starring Rex, Emma and hellhound puppies in "Hell’s Menagerie", Kelly Gay's short story in Carniepunk.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

That's great Monica. If we manage to finish all 3 of the remaining books for the Demons shelf before the next shelves are called we'll be ready in case *Favorite is called. :)
In any case, the following week is likely the last for this round - 50% chance that a winning shelf will be called.
I'm almost done my demons book, but I'm putting it on hold for tonight cause I'm going to see Catching Fire! Can't wait :D

Enjoy Kat! Let us know if you like it - I've yet to see it myself..
It was awesome, way better than the first one. I thought they did an excellent job of adapting this book to film. The acting was also much better now that the actors have a feel for their characters. I can't wait for the next one!!!!!

Review: Well Harry Dresden is in trouble again and although this book really had nothing to do with demons, it was still a very good read. This time Harry is helping the police solve a serial killer case but things turn a little hairy quite literally since they are dealing with Werewolves as Harry and Murphy race to find the ones responsible.
I very much enjoyed this second book of the Dresden Files and Harry is really starting to grow on me I love his old world charm and how he is always trying to be the knight in shining armor. Butcher is doing a fantastic job with his world building and I'm sure that this series is only going to keep getting better. I can't wait to start book three!

Review: I haven't read that many books about demons so I wasn't sure what to expect. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised as how much I enjoyed this story.
Jacob: The Nightwalkers introduces you to the world of demons through the eyes of Jacquelyn Frank. Jacob is an enforcer in the demon world. He is out looking for a demon that has been summoned by a necromancer when a human falls from a window. Isabella is the woman that falls into Jacobs life that night.
I found Jacob and Bella very entertaining especially as they start to discover things about each other. Her being human and him being a demon and it being illegal in the demon world to touch a human. Bella is different than most humans.
I did not enjoy the romance between Bella and Jacob. I found it overbearing at times. I enjoy romance but I just didn't like all of the romance in this book. I look forward to reading the other books in this series.

Claire and Jamie's adventures continue.
There is little one can say about these books that would do them justice. Exceptionally well-written, they are not actually stories with a beginning, middle and an end, but more episodes of Claire's life. Of course that has its bad side as well, since there sometimes seems to be no end in sight and the seer volume of the book makes it intimidating, but the story itself makes up for it.
(view spoiler)
The narration of the audiobook was amazing, just like the first one, with the various accents, especially the Scottish ones, making the various characters come alive in vivid detail.
At first, starting this book and for a big part of it I thought it might be the last of the series I read, despite its being so good, but that ending made me reconsider. Why would you end a nearly 800 page book like that!? To make the readers want to read the next one, that's why. Well mission accomplished! It might not be anytime soon, but I'm adding Voyager to my list.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I enjoyed this one much better than First Drop of Crimson. I liked Kira, she's smart, resourceful, and speaks her mind. I enjoyed learning more about Mencheres. Overall, a good fit in this series. It was nice to read about other characters from the series (even though my favorites are still Cat and Bones).

Review:Barely Bewitched the second book in Kimberly Frost's Southern Witch series is yet another fantastic addition to the series that brings back to life all the wonderful characters from the first book and even a few new ones.
Tammy-Jo is back and in more trouble then ever and her back firing magic isn't helping one little bit. This book takes place one week after the events in the first book and Tammy -Jo is working hard at getting her old job back and her family jewelry that she had to pawn for the money but when a strange man appears on her doorstep with a letter saying she has to participate in a magical challenge she has no chance of winning she finds herself turning to Bryn Lyons for help but that may have just made things 1000 times worse.
I loved this book it was funny and sexy and anything else you can name this book has it. The witty humor and love-able characters make this book a fast read that you will not be able to put down. I so looking forward to the next book int he series Tammy-Jo is just to much fun to miss!

5 Stars Shelf:
by Maggie Stiefvater
Finished: 07/12/13
Rating: 4 stars
Review:Lament by Maggie Stiefvater is a powerful story about Love, Loss, Myths and Magic and is sure to be a crowd pleaser for people of all ages. In this story we get to know Deirdre Monaghan a talented young woman with a gift for music and a even more special gift of being a clover hand, that's a person who can see faeries. Her life was very ordinary until she meets Luke a handsome young man with more secrets then any normal person should have. Together Deirdre and Luke embark on a journey that brings Celtic faerie lore to life and tells the tale of their love that may or may not be a clear happy ending.
I enjoyed this story a lot it was full of dangerous forbidden love and faerie lore that was wonderfully written . Maggie Stiefvater has this fantastic way of bringing her words to life on the page and making her characters passionate and believable. As this is the second novel I have read by Ms. Stiefvater I have to say that I am an instant fan and will be looking forward to reading her current works and her future work as well.

Review:Book one of The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher is a great way to start off what, I'm starting to think is going to be a fantastic series. In Book one we meet Harry Dresden, Wizard for hire, police consultant, and all round good guy, who after excepting a job to find a missing person ends up in a fight for his life all the while trying to help the police who suspect him, a rogue wizard out to kill him and the Wizards White Council who are watching his every move.
I really enjoyed this first book it had tons of action and adventure. The character of Harry Dresden was well thought out and brought to life perfectly. The is a series that I have waited along time to start and I'm really glad that I finally did. Can't wait to continue on with book 2.
