Loved Hot Fuzz. Also loved Shaun of the Dead. Look forward to watching the last one in the trilogy, The World's End.

I'm reading Way of Kings also. Couldn't pass up that Amazon price!
Finished Ancillary Justice. I liked it. It grabbed me quicker than my current read.My current read is Under Heaven. I picked it up ages ago after reading Tigana and The Lions of al-Rassan and didn't get very far. I hit chapter 5 this time around and it seems to be drawing me in.
During my commute I've been listening to John Dies at the End on audible, having finished Among Others at the beginning of the month.

Hello all Jennifer's, Jenny's, & Jen's. I say we take over this planet instead.
Gave up on Ancillary Justice, so now I'm about three chapters into Year Zero. It's been a fun one so far.
I finally finished Reaper's Gale. Least favorite Malazan book so far (My Review). It was just too slow, although not as much as the middle books of Wheel of Time.
I also did a bunch of Graphic Novels:
Saga, Volume 1 (My Review)
Saga, Volume 2 (My Review)
Batman: The Killing Joke (My Review)
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (My Review)

I've been meaning to read Catspaw by Joan D. VingeI'm backed up and have limited myself to only the really good 'stuff"
The problem is that there are no reviews for Catspaw.
If someone in the group has read it I'd be interested in their feedback.
Yesterday I read The Mystery Of The Haunted Cottage. I'm also listening to The Lightning Thief on audio.

I have read Catspaw, it's a keeper in my library, which is a statement of how much I enjoyed it.

I am.

Finished my re-read of the Wheel of Time series with first read of the last book finally. Then I read White Fire by Preston and Child. Now listening to Scalzi's The Human Division and reading My Life as a White Trash Zombie which is more entertaining than I expected :) Will be starting Ancillary Justice as soon as I get paid, tomorrow hopefully.
I finally got around to reading Naomi Noviks Temeraire series and I've devoured the first two books in a few days and am now on the 3rd. Loving them! Also re-read Ender's Game after 6 years since I saw the movie the other night. Movie was pretty good, but not great. Could have been an awesome TV series on SHO or HBO... Seriously, HBO can you make a series out of all my favorite books? You did an amazing job with GoT (And we'll forgive you for True Blood which was good the first season and then just turned into porn, and not even good porn at that...)

Well thanks again! ^-^
I've been on a bit of a comic/graphic novel kick the last few days. I read Locke and Key, Vol. 1: Welcome to Lovecraft by Joe Hill, which was my first foray into Joe Hill's work. And on a lighter tone, I went through Unshelved and What Would Dewey Do? by Bill Barnes. They are comic strip collections about a public library and I find them quite amusing.
I just finished listening to Tigana that I was doing with some friends in my side-reads group.
I enjoyed it, though maybe not as much as most of my friends seem to.

I'm just waiting for the sixth and final one to come out.
As Ancillary Justice just came out, I haven't been able to get it at the library yet, and likely won't before the month is done. Oh, well. Guess I'll double up next month. On that note (as I'm relatively new here), when do they announce the next book, and how is it chosen?
Also, since I promised my wife (& myself) that I'd read it since it's her favorite book, I'm about 200 pages into Infinite Jest. Really difficult read, but also quite rewarding. It's gradually pulling me in, and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes. Anyone here read it?

Really like the art.

Saga is awesome! I keep hearing about Locke & Key, but I'm not so big on horror, so I dunno.

It's more like fantasy. There's magic keys. But it took volume 2 for me to get into it.

I just checked and library only has volume 1. Maybe I'll look into it after Attack on Titan though.
If I don't like it, I'm totally blaming you though. Or David Sven. I recall he liked it too..

The art is really good. The first volume has some weird time jumps in the beginning that I'm not a fan of.

Tamahome wrote: "The art is really good. The most confusing part is that the depiction of the mother looks younger than you would expect.
Finished Reynolds' Century RainMy review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Next up another Reynolds novel Pushing Ice
Finished up Golden Cities, Far and am going with something much more recent (considering Golden Cities, Far had excerpts from Egyptian myths and medieval romances) -- The Time of Contempt, the most recently-translated-into-English of Andrzej Sapkowski's Witcher novels.

I think we all might be a little evil, for I chuckled just thinking about world domination.
Well now that I'm done with Royal Assassin. So I figure I might just finish up the Farseer Trilogy. After that I haven't a clue as to what I'm going to move on to. I have far too many choices...
Tamahome wrote: "But it took volume 2 for me to get into it. "The head key was fantastic. Also loving Saga and am enjoying The Massive, Vol. 1: Black Pacific

I read Infinite Jest a few years ago. It was tough to get into at first, with the strange vocabulary and the randomness...but once I got used to that, I really got sucked in. Loved it, and half of me wants to read it again. The other half wonders if it would be the same a second time around, knowing what I know.
Just started rereading Jim Farris' Mage series, can't stay away really. In the meantime trying to forge ahead in Grim Company and Powder Mage which sadly just don't seem to hold my attention for some reason.
Jenny wrote: Yes, this summer. I would never have made it without the group I read with! Good luck.Infinite Summer? Or a group here on Goodreads? I was planning on joining the Infinite Summer group, but then I got busy getting married and didn't have the time to dive into it. The randomness is a difficulty for me as well, but I'm persevering. I wish that I was reading it with a group, though. Hoping to get it done by the end of February or so, but maybe I'll get sucked in sooner and finish it before the year's out.
Quick question that you and terpkristin may be able to answer. I'm about 215 pages in and Pemulis just got the DMZ, and they decided to try it a month later in November, Y.D.A.U., the week before the Whataburger Invitational in AZ. My question is, there seems to be a time discrepancy, because the first chapter is in the Year of Glad, about April, and Hal is in the middle of the Whataburger Tournament. Is this a discrepancy in the book, or will I learn more as the book goes on? Thanks.
Scott wrote: "Is this a discrepancy in the book, or will I learn more as the book goes on"Keep reading. It will make sense in the end.
I originally had intended to read it as a part of the Infinite Summer in 2009, but I lost pace with the group. I ended up doing "Infinite Winter" and did the same goal of reading at least 30 pages a day (I don't remember the exact number, I thought it was 30 pages a day to finish in a summer). It was tough at first, but as I got sucked in, I got way ahead of schedule, as it were. The website for the original Infinite Summer read is still up and you might find it helps to read the blog posts that go with the different sections of the book. http://infinitesummer.org/
Oh yeah, I'm reading An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth: What Going to Space Taught Me About Ingenuity, Determination, and Being Prepared for Anything and The Mongoliad: Book Three right now. I have them both in audio and in Kindle format, and I need to get my butt in gear.

Okay, good. That's what I needed to know. Wallace seems like too intricate of an author to make a mistake like that. Maybe I'll get my butt into gear and finish it before the end of the year...that would be nice. It's been a proverbial Sword of Damocles for years, and I want to finish it to get back to other books I've been wanting to read. Not to say that I'm not enjoying it, or looking forward to seeing the brilliance that most who've read it say is there, just that it's been the most difficult book I've read. (Though The Silmarillion is up there.)
Interesting. You'll have to let me know how Hadfield's book is. After seeing his wonderful videos on YouTube, I'd definitely be game to read his book. A book that I really want to read is about Playtex designing the Apollo spacesuit and beating out a bunch of engineering firms.
Spacesuit: Fashioning Apollo

I'm pretty certain that Melissa is talking about The King Raven trilogy by Stephen Lawhead. It's three books reimagining the Robin Hood tale. I've only read Hood, but I wouldn't mind checking out the rest of the series. The "Scarlett" (sic) she's likely talking about is this one. Scarlet

You are probably right :$ my bad. Thanks for pointing that out
Finished The Time of Contempt and decided it was finally time for James Enge -- Travellers' Rest (a short story) followed immediately by Blood of Ambrose.
On audio, Hellbent by Cherie Priest. This is the second book in her urban fantasy series, which is a bit lighter and fluffier than her steampunk series, but still fun to read. For print, I'm about 125 pages into The Cuckoo's Calling by JK Rowling. So far, I like it, even if it is a tad slow.

I read it in an offshoot group, Summer of Jest. I echo terpkristin, keep reading. There is an entry somewhere out there that lists all the page numbers were you to read the book in chronological order, and I'm tempted, because of issues like this.
