Kallie What first book and even second that you loved and then it went horribly bad.

Lisa Raetzloff Submissive and even the dominant were good but I did not like the third by Tara sue me

Paula Bared to You book 1 was good, but book 2 was worst and I will not even bother to read book 3.

Hungrieeee I've book 1,2 and 3 , books 1 and 2 weren't that bad for me. But when i read book 3, it was like Sylvia Day just put some scenes in the end that doesn't even make sense.

Marianne Lisa wrote: "Submissive and even the dominant were good but I did not like the third by Tara sue me"

I just finished Maya Banks Breathless series.
I am about to start a new series, do you recommend the Submissive series?

Books2fashion Im glad a heard someone say something about Tara Sue Me's third book. I have been wanting to read it but wasnt sure about it.

Megan This obviously lol. The book was suppose to be a trilogy, when Bared to You came out it was 3 books. Then all of a sudden she strings two more. At first I was fine because I loved the series but this book seems they are just adding stuff so there is more drama for the next two books

Itsmebacshi its not bad.. its disaster..

seriously! don't even bother to read the third part. you'll be sorely disappointed.

liked fifty shade of grey
really loved fifty shades darker
hated fifty shades freed (after Aspen)

Catherine Colters Legacy just went on too long. Loved #1, enjoyed #1.5 and 2, was ok with #3, skipped #4 and fell asleep reading #5 Colters' Gift

Uchenna i think the first was okay and the second , but d third i was like wtf? its supposed to be a trilogy for crying out loud . i think the author is suffering from Fifty Shades of Grey syndrome , like most authors nowadays , they all want to write an erotica thats into three installments , its so annoying, u can still write just one book it will be okay

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

this man first book was amazing, unputdownable and refreshing.
but was so upset that i hated the second, jesse does some really stupid shit in that one, a lot of it unforgivable, too many bad/painful reveals.

Terri (N.J.) Sylvia wrote: "i think the first was okay and the second , but d third i was like wtf? its supposed to be a trilogy for crying out loud . i think the author is suffering from Fifty Shades of Grey syndrome , like..."

I totally agree with you Sylvia. Hard to find anything that isn't a series. Half the time you have to wait months for the next one to come out or I start to get bored in the middle of the second. They drag them out.

Paula Sarah wrote: "this man first book was amazing, unputdownable and refreshing.

So sorry to hear that in the second book jesse gets even worse than the first book. I am currently reading the first one and I am finding it very hard to finish it because I think he is so over-the-top and ridiculous . Cannot imagine that he gets worse and more controlling in subsequent books.

message 16: by Kam (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kam Carr A Trilogy is okay.. Its just when you have to wait forever for another book to come out. Because in between waiting you have found something else to read. I don't like waiting!!

Debbie J I thought the first two books in the trilogy were great but the third one made me mad. I hate it when authors take their readers for granted and push out some crap because they want to strike while the fire is hot. I would have been happy to wait longer for her to produce a book which met the quality of the first two. As it was, EwY just seemed like a loosely connected series of sex scenes which were boring, based on plotline which was so thin as to be virtually imperceptible by the human eye.

couldn't agree more,way too many trilogy's
then the ones you want to have more books like beautiful disaster and easy get nothing. sucks

I thought the third book was OK, but it could have been better. I ended rather suddenly. I would have preferred she had either made it longer, or turned it into four books.

Humera I couldn't agree even more, it goes on and on.

Pebbles "Bared to You" started out well and with each book got worse, horrible in fact! "Submission" is also another which I found total crap but my BIGGEST disappointment was "Consequences" "Truth" "Conviction" series by Aleatha Romig. I LOVED the first two and then was BITTERLY disappointed and GUTTERED by the opening chapter in the third installment. So much so I stopped reading and read other Amazon reviewers comments some regret ever reading the third book which is why I stopped. I was so emotionally invested but once the story changed 180 degrees I couldn't continue. How to kill a series - 101!

I agree that third book was a lot to take in at first, but I'm glad I stuck with it. Ultimately, I loved that whole series and can't wait for Behind His Eyes to come out.

Yes, this was one of my all time favorite series! I loved the twists and turns. I did, however, wait until just before Conviction was released to read Consequences and Truth. I am tired of waiting. I read fast and miss details, so I end up rereading multiple times which annoys me. I love rereads, but not 3x in one year or something!

Can't agree more with you, I hate it that the author was obviously able to end the story in 3 books but for some reason she ended up stretching it to 5 books and that leading to the books being filled with nonsense and some uncalled for drama.

Paganalexandria The Up in the Air series. I loved both In Flight (Up in the Air, #1) by R.K. Lilley Mile High (Up in the Air, #2) by R.K. Lilley but Grounded (Up in the Air, #3) by R.K. Lilley felt like it wasn't even written by the same author. I felt like she became married to the idea of a trilogy, but didn't have the material. So Grounded is crowded with unnecessary filler and characters obviously showing up as advertisement for a new series.

Couldnt agree more!!! I was totally disappointed reading the first chapter of Conviction. I left it aside two time... yes two times before I took a vow to finish it. And it was what the story needed. Yes definitely the author brought in a different style of narrating - which totally works BTW. It is so cute - such a Happily Ever After. The characters stayed true to their new found strength (Clair had to test Anthony by giving him an option to call the right phone number stored in the cellphone in the locker) and Anthony had to give Clair a choice to take everything in the end!!!

But I do agree - when you first start reading the third book, it will disappoint you, discourage you - but then once you are in the story of it - you will finish the book in one go.. skipping meals, work, or sleep!!!

Totally Love the series and Cant wait for Anthony's point of view!

Jesse has his reasons for being so controlling - and the third books brings all the puzzle pieces together for his certain actions throughout the 2 books. And yes the last half of the book is surprisingly shocking and nail bitting.

message 29: by Milie (new) - added it

Milie How about the Divergent series?!?!?!!!!

What are your thoughts on this series. I loved the first book (even though there are similarities to the Hunger Games series). Even Loved the second book!!!

But the third book completely shakes the reason for existance of the first two books - like negative becomes positive and positive becomes negative!!!!

I see how the author chose the ending and kept it more real - but I was shocked... like a serious heart attack shock that i would have to take Advil when there were turn of events in the third book!!!

And... I would so love to be by Four's side!!!

Robin Valorie wrote: "How about the Divergent series?!?!?!!!!

i agree that allegiant by far was one of the biggest disappointments after so looking forward to reading it for months. i loved the first book, liked the second book and was just so upset with the fact that nothing about the third book made sense. and it wasnt just what happened that was shocking and disappointing, that it happened with no good real reason and was just brushed off like eh it wasnt major. i understand not everyone gets happy endings but with everything they had been through in the whole story i would have liked to have seen it end somewhat better than the crap we were given.

I forget what happened in previous book. I've started waiting for the entire series to finish before I start reading the books. The Crossfire series is frustrating because I thought it was finished, but now it looks like it isn't.

message 32: by Lynn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lynn I loved The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, great mystery, wonderful characters. The next two book didn't even seem to have been written by the same author. I know Steig Larson passed away, but I wonder how much input other people had on those last two books.

Kallie Adelin wrote: ""Bared to You" started out well and with each book got worse, horrible in fact! "Submission" is also another which I found total crap but my BIGGEST disappointment was "Consequences" "Truth" "Convi..."

I felt the same about the last book but I finished it and I must say I liked it. There is a conversation with their daughter and Claire's sister's son (can't remember her name) that was soo touching and Claire and Tony did their atoning ad growing to truly become a couple. The only thing I might have done was to have the guy Claire had slept with have a visit with her in the mental facility. It would have all come full circle. I had liked his character. I loved all three books in that series.

Brittany Sylvia wrote: "i think the first was okay and the second , but d third i was like wtf? its supposed to be a trilogy for crying out loud . i think the author is suffering from Fifty Shades of Grey syndrome , like..."

Seriously!!! I'm so very tired of the installment plan. Lol. I want one book about one couple. Then I MAY like a second or third book about different people within the first story!!

Black Debbie wrote: "I thought the first two books in the trilogy were great but the third one made me mad. I hate it when authors take their readers for granted and push out some crap because they want to strike while..."

My thoughts exactly!! I waited for this third book but in the end, I had to fight the impulse to throw the book against my wall. (Face palm)

Angie Elle Brittany wrote: "Sylvia wrote: "i think the first was okay and the second , but d third i was like wtf? its supposed to be a trilogy for crying out loud . i think the author is suffering from Fifty Shades of Grey ..."

Some authors can do this and do it well. The problem is when one author does it and is incredibly successful, all of a sudden everyone thinks they can do it. Writing a series about one couple and keeping the reader engaged is not an easy thing to do.

Paula Angie wrote: "Brittany wrote: "Sylvia wrote: "i think the first was okay and the second , but d third i was like wtf? its supposed to be a trilogy for crying out loud . i think the author is suffering from Fift..."
I agree with Angie. Writing three books about the same couple is difficult, and unfortunately, very few authors have done it well. Why not just make book one longer to encompass everything and not drag it out using three books.

message 39: by Paganalexandria (last edited Jan 11, 2014 08:53AM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Paganalexandria I also loved C.J. Roberts The Dark Duet Captive in the Dark (The Dark Duet, #1) by C.J. Roberts Seduced in the Dark (The Dark Duet, #2) by C.J. Roberts was awesome, but the unnecessary third installment Epilogue (The Dark Duet, #3) by C.J. Roberts should never come out. It's not horribly written, but besides more sex scenes adds nothing to Caleb and Liv's story.

I agree with you book 1 was very good, 2 had some fluff in the begining and had a good cliff hanger ending, 3 was almost 90% fluff. I might still buy 4 because of 3's ending, I feel like I already invested in the series not to see it through.

Kimberley Adelin wrote: ""Bared to You" started out well and with each book got worse, horrible in fact! "Submission" is also another which I found total crap but my BIGGEST disappointment was "Consequences" "Truth" "Convi..."

Lol agreed. It was painful to read..... And I won't read through his eyes.

as far as crossfire series......lol they've had their happy ever after for a while, won't sink more time or money into that series

Kimberley These authors write dark stories and then fluff them up lol must be the readers convincing them to give more "typical" HEAs.

But one story that I felt left us in the lurch (as a standalone) was Raw by Belle Aurora. If it was going to be a standalone, then the very last paragraph should have been removed!

I'm so fucking tired of manipulative authors.....

*jumps off soapbox* rant over lol

Rachel Lim I was looking forward to the 3rd book Entwined with you and oh boy...it was a total waste of my time. I couldn't wait to turn the pages quickly so that I can chuck the book back in my shelf. I thought it ends in Trilogy but gosh, I was wrong!!!! She's writing her 4th book now.

Good decision on BHE. I am currently reading BHE and there is no insight into Tony - nothing that I did not already know - very disappointed BUT I loved that series. It's like I wrote BHE with how I felt he was thinking and I am NOT a writer. 72% into the book....still waiting for something I did not know.

Soo sad I really liked Gideon

Colleen Marie I read (and enjoyed) books one and two. Book three too SO LONG to finally be released that I'd moved on to many other stories (and series). My plan was to reread books one and two and then move to book three (which was the last in the series - until a publisher got-hold of it). When book three came out and I saw the reviews which revealed there was to be two additional books - along with some dismal reviews about how book three seemed like a lot of 'filler' to drag out the series to five books.........I decided to let the series go - at least until the final book came out (sometime in this century, I would hope). I'd clearly lost interest. I hold books one and two dear and can finish their love story in my own mind. I would imagine there are writers (fanfiction, perhaps) that have already 'finished' the series in a book three of their own creation. Now.......THAT BOOK......I might want to read since I do think a third book should have ended the series (as originally planned by the writer). It has to be frustrating to the writer that her success being picked-up by a publishing house angered the very readers that made the series so popular. Sad..........what has happened. This too.....shall pass. We're lucky there is so much out there for us to choose from and much of it is GREAT writing/stories.

Astraycat Andrea Smith's Baby Series! The first two were great, but Be My Baby (Baby, #3) totally ruined the whole series, I couldn't accept cheating no matter what the reason was.

message 49: by Karin (last edited Dec 05, 2014 03:36AM) (new)

Karin Koleva Ah, I really enjoyed the first two and I do believe Crossfire would be great, if Sylvia Day had just left it be a trilogy instead of dragging the story over five books effectively ruining the whole thing filling it with whatever bullshit came to her mind so it's plenty of words for a pentalogy (and I'm not even starting on the delays in publishing).
And oh Gosh, Entwined With You being continued by Captivated By You (both spread over numerous worthless pages) were total disappointment, weren't they? :(
Anyways, I kept on buying the books and kept on reading them cover to cover, so I guess it could have been worse...

Jadaris I just want to let every one know, because it bothers me every time i hear people bitch and moan about it, the Crossfire series was never meant to be a trilogy, I've known since book one that this series would have four books maybe 5, an she just decided that it was gonna be a Quintet last year. If people ever bothered to look up authors websites they wouldn't be so butt hurt about things they probably already addressed. I'M just gonna leave her reason behind making it a Quintet here so that maybe ya'll will understand why:

"The Crossfire series is a quintet. At the end of Entwined with You there are still threads that need to be tied off and a lot more work ahead for Gideon in Captivated by You. The Crossfire series documents Gideon and Eva’s relationship day by day. Because there are no leaps forward in time, only a few months have passed in Gideon and Eva’s relationship by the end of Entwined, and only two weeks since the end of Reflected in You. There are a lot of milestones that they haven’t reached because there hasn't been enough time elapsed."
