I will. Thank you :)
I would be interested in playing this if someone else needs a partner. I usually read 1-2 books per week.
Christina wrote: "I would be interested in playing this if someone else needs a partner. I usually read 1-2 books per week."I've been wanting to start a game too. I've never played but it looks fun. I also read 1-2 books a week.
This sounds great! Do you guys want to do a game with 4 people or would you rather split up and do two games of two people each?
Woohoo new players! Just post in the sign up thread when you decide how you'd like to do it and I'll set up your game thread(s)
Christina wrote: "Would it be easier or harder for 4 people to play?"Honestly, I think it's the same either way. Each person will just end up "owning" less properties than if you were playing with just two people. It's fun either way and I'm not just saying that because I came up with it. lol I love playing and it's helped me get through some books I needed to get to and I've read some that were never even on my radar.
Sounds good then. Do we all read about the same pace? I don't want to offend anyone but I'd rather not play with someone who reads 2 books a day LOL.
Christina wrote: "Sounds good then. Do we all read about the same pace? A lot of those books are already set (buddy reads/series reads/BoTm) and I'm certain a good number of them will not apply to the Monopoly game so that will knock a few more off. So far this month I've read 6 - one is a novella that was very, very short, and two of those, I actually started in October and finished in November. I listen to audios and read kindle/hard covers. Takes me about a week (sometimes more) to get through a kindle/hard copy, audios I can usually get between 1-2 of them done in a week depending on how long they are.
I seem to be reading about 7 books a month. I have read 3 this month so far since I have had so much going on at home. Let me know what everyone decides. I'm fine either way.
Ok, it sounds like everyone was ok with doing a 4 person game. Would you like me to sign us up and when do we want to start?
This sounds like so much fun. I want to play so bad, but it doesn't seem like anyone has posted in awhile :(
Brianna wrote: "This sounds like so much fun. I want to play so bad, but it doesn't seem like anyone has posted in awhile :("Brianna, usually someone posting in this thread looking for a partner will generate some activity and you would be able to find a partner fairly quickly.
One thing I would recommend is that you say how fast you read (a book a day, 3 books a week, etc), just so it is easier for potential players to match up with you.
The game is extremely fun! I played a round last year, and while I am a little busy this month to join you, I figured you deserved a quick reply. 8)

Thanks for replying Trea and Megan. For some reason Goodreads decided not to send me notifications for this thread. Brianna, please let me know if you have any questions and if you and Megan decide to play together, I can set up a thread for you.

You're welcome, Paris!
I'm interested in playing. I read 1-2 books per week. Megan & Brianna, did you already start a game, or can I join you?

Thank you
Great, I'll go request a game for the three of us!
I would be interested in playing a round with someone, or two or three ;-) I read fairly fast, 4-5 books a week. Those are usually challenge bound, so for this game I'd say I could do 1-2 a week depending on how well my challenge books apply here. Looking forward to playing with someone!
I'll play with you, LaurLa! I read about 4-5 books a week also but would be happy to do 1-2 for this. Can't mess up those challenge books :P
I'd like to join a game if there is one available. I usually have other books going on, but I can do 1 - 2 a week for this. :)
If you ladies decide you want to play, post in the sign up thread and I'll set up a thread tomorrow when I get home from work and my work out.
Oh gosh ladies! I totally forgot to check back here yesterday. Yes, please let's play! I'll go ahead and make the request on the sign up thread for LaurLa, Sarah and Nichole.
Hi Katherine, it's when you've finished your book, so for example if 2 of you landed on the same spot it would be 1st one to finish who then owns that property.
Does that make sense ? lol

Yap.
Paris - for the shelf books, if the shelf name you have listed is plural, could the singular be okay too? Or vice versa, I guess. For example, for Mediterranean Avenue, we have to read from 'Favorites Shelf'. The link takes you to a list of all books ever shelved as 'Favorites' (plural) but what if we have a book we want to read but it's been shelved as 'Favorite' instead of Favorites... can we still use it?
LaurLa, that's a good question. It should be on the specific shelf that is linked in each game thread.
Paris wrote: "LaurLa, that's a good question. It should be on the specific shelf that is linked in each game thread."Bummer... but okay, I can deal with that ;-)
Second question - if a book is on the linked shelf that's in a series we're reading but isn't where we're at (Book 3 is on the shelf but we're on Book 2), can we read the book we're on? I know this one is a stretch, but it's an exception in some challenges I've done, so wanted to check here.
It's gotta be on the shelf. You never know though, the 2nd book might be on the shelf. One way that I like to search is to go the book I'm reading and check it specifically for the shelf in question. I know somewhere around here are instructions on how to do that. Found it...Yes when you're on a book's page, click on genres.
This'll pull up all the ways it's been shelved.
Then use the control find feature on your computer and enter in the shelfs name. You'll have to do it through each page of shelves though.

Yeah - that's how I search for my TBR books when I have to read off of a specific genre shelf - that's what I was doing when I asked my first question ;-) I was looking for books shelved as Library Books and found several on my TBR that were shelved as Library Book (singular). It's no biggie. Just checking out the interpretation of the rules. I found books I can use (just not necessarily my first choices), so I'm all good. Thanks for the clarification and instructions :-D
I'd love to start a new game more my speed, if there's anyone interested. I read a lot, but they're almost never things that'd work for the requirements to buy a property (lotsa obscure Goodwill finds and random non-fiction books that sound interesting but nobody's ever heard of), but I can definitely squeeze in about 1 Monopoly book a week. Anybody game, so to speak?
Mods, would you please archive the Trea vs Gea thread from November 2014, as well as the Trea vs Sadie vs VampAmber thread from July 2015? Both games have been abandoned due to lack of activity/me reading too much! Thank you so very much!
Greta wrote: "Can books be started prior to rolling as long as they are finished after rolling?"Books count only if they are started after the roll.
Okay, I was going to use
for Connecticut (Books I Own Shelf), but it's tagged 35 times and the shelf list cuts off at 50 tags on page 100 (I assume because there are so many!). Can I use this book, or do I need to find another?

That's absolutely fine Rose. Do not worry about it. Definitely let us know if you change your mind.
