Chips Otoole Love the ending for Presumed Innocent. Any recommendation for mysteries or thriller with a great plot twist or suprise ending would be appreciated

Harold Kasselman The Good Lawyer by Thomas Benigno

Lee Lipps Off the top of my head, two come quickly to mind.

Fletch--Gregory Mcdonald
Primal Fear--William Bayer

They have both been made into movies so the surprise or twist may not be there if you have seen them. However, Fletch is well worth reading for the dialogue alone. So is the first sequel, Confess, Fletch. Marvelous humor, both.

Jon Adcock Thomas Tryon - The Other

Dennis Lehane - Shutter Island

Kirby I agree with the Shutter Island recommendation, and would add Sharp Objects.

Michelle A Kiss Before Dying by Ira Levin. It's an oldie, but a real goodie!! I also think The Butcher's Boy trilogy (The Butcher's Boy, Sleeping Dogs and The Informant) by Thomas Perry were great.

Derek Presumed Innocent was soooo good ... I just discovered Hunting the Midnight Shark ... it definitely had some twists. You have to like action, though.

Feliks Impressed that someone recommended Thomas Perry.

Susan Mills Wilson The twist at the end makes this book a heavyweight. It is worth the time to read. Intriguing.

Michael L Wilkerson (Papa Gray Wolf) Now You See Me by S.J. Bolton. After it ended then she blows you away with the surprise.

L.A. Kragie Vampire Chimeras has lots of twists and surprises. But it is in the medical genre, with some Wall St and FBI shenanigans thrown in.

James Rada Jr. Consider "Tell No One" by Harlan Coben and "Blood Work" by Michael Connelly. Tell No One, especially, surprised me at the end.

Harold Kasselman The French mad a movie out of the book which was excellent. It is very different but I liked it even better than the book

Michael L Wilkerson (Papa Gray Wolf) The lLast Dead Girl by Harry Dolan doesn't exactly make you wait to the last page to answer all of the twists and turns of the story but it's a thumping good read (to steal a phrase) all the way through. It was my first book by Dolan and I've just received his first two, Bad Things Happen and Very Bad Men. I'm finishing my latest (not hers but mine) Anne Holt book, Death of the Deamon and one of Harry's books will be my next.

Saw the movie Blood Work with Clint Eastwood but haven't read and of Michael Connelly' s books. Are they good?

Debbie Oxier I enjoy good legal thrillers and read Presumed Innocent. Just finished An Innocent Client by Scott Pratt and really liked it. Any other author's you could recommend?

Debbie, the Blood Work movie was lousy especially compared to the book. It was my first Connelly book and one of his stand-alone novels. He also has a series detective named Harry Bosch and another series called "The Lincoln Lawyer." I have enjoyed all of his books. I just finished The Gods of Guilt last week and thought it was a 4 or 5 star book.

The book was not exactly stand alone, but indeed the book was way better than the movie.

Lisa In addition to the authors mentioned, I recently discovered R.J. Ellory. My two favorites by him thus far were "A Quiet Belief in Angels" and "A Quiet Vendetta."

I also thought "The Given Day" and "Live by Night" by Dennis LeHane were fantastic. Although I must admit I hated "Shutter Island."

David Baldacci is an excellent author as well.

"True Crime" by Andrew Klavan is great and was also made into a movie with Clint Eastwood a few years back.

Definitely David Baldacci, though make sure you're getting a thriller. He also does YA and mainstream books. I just finished "King and Maxwell" this week and loved it.

Thanks. I saw the movie The Lincoln Lawyer and wasn't impressed. Guess I'd better quit watching the movies and read the books instead. I think I will try Blood Work. I liked the premise.

Read David Baldacci. Have loved most of his books, especially the first Will Robie.

Michael L Wilkerson (Papa Gray Wolf) James wrote: "Debbie wrote: "James wrote: "Consider "Tell No One" by Harlan Coben and "Blood Work" by Michael Connelly. Tell No One, especially, surprised me at the end."

Some of his earlier stand alone novels haven't been nearly as good as his Bosch or Lincoln Lawyer series. Those series are good though the last Bosch novel, The Black Box, seemed tired. That's the best way I can describe it. I'm looking forward to his next one, The Burning Room due out in November. I'm hoping that Box was just an anomaly.

Michael L Wilkerson (Papa Gray Wolf) John Verdon has written 4 books, all with the main character a retired NYPD detective of some renown. There are things in his books I don't like, to wit his interaction with his wife, but the twists and turns of the story kept me wondering until the villain was revealed. I haven't read the last one but I anticipate it will be as good as the first three.

Ian Anything by Jeffery Deaver, the master of the twist, double-twist and occasionally even the triple-twist! If you've not read him, start with The Bone Collector (Lincoln Rhyme, #1) by Jeffery Deaver .
