Hey, I have friends and family all over the country and actually a couple of other countries at the moment, MySpace is great for that! I wish I had it when I lived overseas!! Not all of my acquaintance would be so chuffed with goodreads, but it takes all kinds. So, fine Seth, I shall take MySpace and YourSpace and AnyOtherSpace and welcome!
Brain... if you hate your space, perhaps you should redecorate. I had a dream about redecorating last night. No one would help me move the overly large sofas I had purchased. It was very frustrating. I hate that.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of myspace either. And that's the description I was given for goodreads as well - "MySpace for readers" - which really it isn't. "Flixster for books" is a better comparison, and even that's an insult. Perhaps "new and improved (and free) LibraryThing" is best.
Your post inspired me to be a playa hater and join this Hater's group and confess that I think Myspace is ass. I also confess that I have a myspace page. I've recently set it to private. Sometimes peeps from the past show up and sometimes I want to be friends with them so I at kept it to private. I also keep it up in case Justin Timberlake wants to look me up to be in that video that we talked about. Facebook confuses me so I will just make friends here at Goodreads. But yeah, Myspace should at least have porn ads. Sheeesh!
Facebook confuses me too, though I'm not sure why.Perhaps what I really hate is social networking sites in general. Or maybe it's that term - Web 2.0 - as if making connections with people is something entirely new and amazing.

I liked Facebook until a friend I had previously believed to be a normal, responsible, mature adult started posting very strange, juvenile things on my site.I also have a myspace, it is also private, and since joining goodreads I hardly ever visit either Myspace or Facebook.

Yeah, I can't stand MySpace and (honestly) the people who love it so much. Any site with that many ads should at least have the decency to show porn.
